The First Human Pangenome Released

UC Santa Cruz scientists, along with a consortium of researchers, have released a draft of the first human pangenome-a new, usable reference for genomics that combines the genetic material of 47 individuals from different ancestral backgrounds to allow for a deeper, more accurate understanding of worldwide genomic diversity.     Genome will not make a big difference, Interactome will do. We don't know how proteins interact and what functions they do

    Not make a big difference? That's like saying the pilings that stabilize a building's foundations don't make a big difference. This is a fundamental requirement for eventually teasing out what all the different proteins do and how they interact in actual humans, rather than an in one generic human, and for understanding both how different and how same all humans are.
