Peach final smash dealing damage in addition to sleep + healing, feels so funny. it's unfairly OP. but it's so funny. idk how they put this in the same game as Jigglypuff's final smash. like night and day.

Generally when I’m baffled by a balance decision I try and think how it would work in 8 man smash with items as lord sakurai intended. Putting that many people to sleep isn’t as good as in 1v1

@@justice8718 I mean they’re based on characters from a 1v1 game and are intentionally trying to mimic that. Most other characters, especially those in the base game are made for a casual audience

For a second I thought the "final" in the title meant this would be the last smash tournament for Smash Ultimate ever lol

I can’t stress enough how amazing this format is, I’m actually excited when you post new videos with it and it has renewed my love for the game- not exaggerating.

This is fucking awesome I love it. way more exciting moments, and there's an extra incentive for people to play aggressively because you want to save your final smash for the 2nd stock.

This tournament was the best tournament to watch right until Losers Finals and Grands cool format but PLEASE BAN PEACH or make rules nerfing that final Smash…. almost disliked the video during the Spargo match ngl

Seeing Sonic players being forced to play the game and being punished for their camping is extremely satisfying to me. Props to Ling for showing us what a good Peach player with FS is like (extremely broken).

I love fs meter so so so so so much and I'm so happy to have been able to watch sets like MKLeo and Spargo play with it enabled

Jejajeja vs. MKLeo proves that Kirby is dangerous.

Only reason I didn't skip the Sonix vs Wrath set was because of AppleReviewer interview

If Final Smashes were Legal I can see Peach getting banned.

That first match had me in shambles

that muteace set was i think the first time i've ever rooted for sonix

Only way I can imagine to consistently play around peach final smash would be snake constantly holding grenade and even then I imagine there are still a bunch of ways peach can combo into it

Ling was so carried that he made Sonix the underdog this tourney

Wow peach in this format is more broken than steve is normally. Sonix proved there's some counterplay to that OP final smash with his springing out, but I bet if FS meter was the standard people's "counterplay" to peach would be like people trying to "adapt" to steve camping, aka barely anything (Not saying I didn't enjoy watching the peach players here I loved this tournament)

We have to talk about Apple Reviewer.

Finally, the competitive world is introduced to the wild place known as final smashes. People have figured out how broken peach/daisy's final smashes are, and if anyone actually played Zelda, they would realize how broken theirs is too. The two worst final smashes are probably sonic's (if you know how to avoid it and aren't caught off-guard, just go up top and they can do nothing) and Jigglypuff's (criminally easy to evade. If you get hit, that is entirely your fault). I really hope to see more tournaments with non-competitive rulesets in the future. If Item Breakers has taught us anything, turning select items on can be loads of fun and not ruin the competitive experience at all if you do it right. There is loads of content in here.

Normally I hate watching top tier sonic play. They pretty much all do the same thing and every match is at least 4 minutes long, but to see ling with that serendipitous 9-0, I sat back with a big ol smile on my face and enjoyed myself.

Going off memory, if final smashes were legal the biggest concerns are 1. peach and zelda(one heals and sets the opponet up for a kill, and we all know why zelda fs is bs) 2.Characters with a vacuum effect(luigi, palutena, megaman. Similar reason to zelda if the person can get creative with the final smash off ledge) 3.Marth/Lucina(they are literally designed like a homerun bat and can guarantee kills even close to 0%) 4. Maybe Sephiroth, purely because of the random status effect causing multiple issues. And I could genuinely see it causing rng upsets similar to hero shenangians in normal play every other fs falls into similar categories and is more so dependant on specific setups imo

An FS meter tourney sounds decent. If some Final Smashes didn’t need meter for their full effect

idk if anyone else has said this but zelda fs meter can kill at very low percent, if you get them offstage and zleda goes to the blastzone, faces the blastzone, and starts her fs then it sucks them in and throws them into the blastzone for free. m2k is wrong about how good zelda fs is and hbox is wrong about how bad it is.

I'm pretty sure it's the exact opposite. Final Smashes in Sm4sh were *far* more casual. The introduction of a weaker version that uses a meter, and the conversion from all transformation final smashes to cutscene final smashes were most definitely attempts to make them more suitable for competitive.

i don't think it's "designed with casual in mind" either because any other final smash are atleast balanced in some way, and from a game design standpoint they're all fair, despite having different hitbox size, it still needs certain percent to kill

Peach Final smash isn’t broken 1. You don’t have enough time to heal and get the free smash unless the opponent is in kill range 2. It only makes sense to do it if your loosing and if you wait too long it goes away

typically when she gets meter they're already in that range tho. plus if you do it to edgeguard its practically a free kill and free healing

Chase didn't use the Final Smash correctly, with Zelda...you can go off stage and use the final smash and drag people down and recover for a free gimp, or you can go under the stage and force them into a tech situation....these Zelda players haven't fought hardcore online item Zelda's...Zelda is crazy online with her final smash 😂😂😂😂😂

yeah a bunch of players lowkey just quit playing around when the switch and smash ult got announced. its lowkey sad cause smash 4 had so much potential if the community had the balls to ban characters. even in the late stages of smash 4 there was so much passion ppl were experimenting with SLHG and even customs again
