The First EVER Fender Signature Bass? (Bass Tales Ep.1)

Музыка

From a Road Worn Mustang to a Flea-approved Jazz Bass, Fender have made their fair share of signature models over the years.
But do you know who had the very first one?
Today’s video comes to you from sunny California, where bass legend Stu Hamm was cool enough to invite us over to talk through his AWESOME collection of signature basses, including his very first one, the Urge, which Fender made for him back in 1993!
You’ll get to check out the basses he played on seminal albums with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai AND his latest custom creations from Warwick, including ‘Dr Strange’ and his 5-string ‘Groot’ bass - something every Marvel fan needs to know about!
As always, see you in the shed…
Scott :)

I was aware of Stu as a bassist but generally unfamiliar with his work. However, his massive "No Regerts" tattoo has told me everything I need to know about him. Fucking legend.

First, Yes to more "Bass Tales." Second, Stu Hamm is such a great bassist, and he is a legend in his own time. However, like most legendary bassists he is such a regular guy. Definately one of my idols. And last, but not least, much love and get well soon to George the Bass Puppy.

I never got to meet Stuart Hamm, but I almost had Stu give me a lesson when he was in L.A. He was doing a bass workshop at a school a few years ago. I didn't have any money to pay for the opportunity to learn from him and I told him so. Stu told me if I could make it out to North Hollywood I believe it was he would squeeze me in for free. What an offer ! Then my wife took ill and couldn't make it happen. Stu was such a nice human being that I will never forget his offer to me that day. God Bless Stu for his kindness

Scott, I am one of your lifetime members. I actually own and got new, an original Stu Hamm Fender Urge 1. Stu, if you happen to read this, the serial number starts with SE 92#### . The Bass is mint in Lake Placid Blue, doesn't have a scratch or mark on it and still has original plastic on it. Never been outside my home, never gigged and rarely played. It's been a joy to own and sits among my herd of Basses.

There’s a bass player that have used mainly 2 bass brands through his very extensive career; even though, I saw videos with other unexpected basses. He’s not technical on bass sound, he would just plug it into the amp and play. But he’s a living legend and started as a guitarist and piano player. By now I think you know who I’m talking about. Through his life, millions of interviews but Not one, really NOT ONE have ever ask him what influential source (if there was any), help him to develop his creativity in his bass lines. His bass technique, etc. In few words interview him as a bass player. Please be the first one to do it while his still alive....... “Sir Paul”.

I had 300 bucks saved up when I graduated high school... my parents gave me another 500 as a graduation gift, and I spent everything on a new bass, a green Stu Hamm signature. Played and sounded great, but I eventually sold it because I became convinced it was the worst looking instrument ever made. Kinda miss it though in a nostalgia way.
