We had bees try and colonize our home. We called a near by university and were hooked up with the bee keepers. They came out and had all the bees transported away in less than a day.
@willistisdale4293

This was attempted, but because of where the bees were in the home it would take demolition of load bearing brick walls to get them out. They’re still hanging out in there. I didn’t get stung once despite being right up close and personal with them.
Man that is a awesome set up and clean install.
Respect for doing such large system installs, pretty neat the level of quality you put in your product installs!
As always, beautiful work! You guys are top notch.
What a wonderful system . 😉👌I know the customer was pretty happy to have such a system installed by the best for going off grid . Props to your company for making it happen.😊May the solar be with you .🤗
Good thing it's a Sol-Ark so you can install fast and get away from the bees! Big fan of the double lug upgrade in your bypass / knifeswitch / meter base.
I love this channel man. You give me hope to be totally off grid
That is a BEAST. I'm jealous. I'd love to have a big plot of land like that, throw some solar in and know that I don't have to rely on ANYONE else to power my home. Such a clean installation for a bit of a messy situation too.
Super nice install!!
ENGINEER 775, GREAT INSTALLATION! THANK YOU FOR KEEPING US ON THE LEADING EDGE OF SOLAR TECHNOLOGY. IF WE WOULD HAVE WAITED WE COULD HAVE HAD A COMPLETE EMP SOL-ARK 15K & LITHIUM IRON PHOSPHATE BATTERY BACKUP SYSTEM. AT PRESENT NOTHING WE HAVE IS EMP HARDENED.
On the ends of the panel mounting you can get rubber dip ( used to dip handles of pliers and other tools ) and paint it on making a rubber cap 🧢
Looks like a really nice system
I found a great SIM for those kind of cellular modem things. Its like $3 per month, unlimited transfer, 64k per second. I also set one up for a friend that wanted a nest in the middle of nowhere.
great net work 👍👍
Nice clean work ❤
I’m in Columbia, SC. Dominion Energy stopped allowing solar systems run through the net metering program. Solar Choice is the new program. I get the impression that utility companies are not interested in paying customers for power.
@engineer775

You can also do Zero export with Dominion energy. You are correct that they do not want to pay or credit you. We are finding that the customer can still net zero with a well designed system.
Cool tunes!
Thats an insane amount of power for one house
@davidjoly9816

Two Sol-Ark 15ks are rated for a combined 24kW to AC loads (100A @ 240V). More than what a lot of people need. But if you are using heatpumps, electric water heaters, electric ovens, and electric dryers, you can get up their quick. Say 9kW for an oven, 4.5kW for a water heater, 5kW for a dryer, several kW for an air conditioner, plus pumps all the smaller stuff. Combined, these two Sol-Arks can't run the on-demand hot-water heater in that house.
EMP hardening is cute. I love extra engineering and new product categories like you said BUT if the customer thinks this will let them shrug off some sort of nuclear event they’re out to lunch. Apparently they couldn’t even address a bee problem! In my mind a solution to truly be prepared for an event where EMP is of a concern is a reserve stock of standby equipment in your bunker… even pre-nuclear Armageddon you can’t get replacement stuff promptly!
@greenwolf401

IMO, the only way to truly be prepared for a major EMP event is to have replacement parts for Everything. And have all the parts properly shielded.

The chance that an EMP will damage it is like 10 gazillion to 1. Fact is, IF you actually do the research an EMP attack won't do jack to 99.9% of the electronics that the fear mongers think. Many scientists have already proven this but people seem drawn to the fear mongers than real facts. This so called EMP shield is just a waste of money.
It’s nice how SolArk has everything in a compact cabinet, but then it takes 3x the cabinets for the wires to connect to it.
That's a really slick looking system, tons of power! Question for you, how / where do you dispose of broken panels? I'm just across the border in NC and have a broken panel that I have no idea how to get rid of.

Yea that on demand unit is not cost or energy effe tive trying to go solar and battery. Sol ark already has smart load circuit for heating water during the day. Scratc h and dent water heaters are cheap and easy to reconfigure with smaller elements and put them in series. Then add a hybrid unit at the end running hot all the time. I do thos with 4-50gal water heaters with the final in series being hybrid. Easy and cheap and runs mostly during the day with a few days storage.

@@engineer775 Six strings of 7 panels, I guessed 440w or so, that makes it around 18kw of panels, is that about right?
@engineer775, nice looking install!! I would love to know more about the EMP protections built in, and what did they build into the batteries for this? Did they just use relay traps? And, who did the testing? You need about 1 to 2 nanosecond (or less) shunt to ground every 250' of wiring upon over voltage pulse (via DOD specs). You have some long runs there, but's it's not easy to know the true distance of the panels to the controller/inverter panel from the video. Then, you have a long run to the barn from system and first breaker box. And, I'm not sure how long the run is to the secondary house breaker panel. There are products that can be used to help shunt to ground EMP on the ends of extended wiring runs, due to DC resistance in wire. You don't want to slow down the effective shunt time on product plugged into distances over 250'. Just a brainstorm here, but I would add an EMP Shield DC unit at the panels, and connect the green ground wire to your separate earth ground you set there. I would also add one of their 2 faze AC home units into the barn's breaker box. And, if the house's secondary breaker box has wire runs extending the whole run from main in to end of that breaker's wiring to over 250', another home unit can be added at that second home breaker box. This will help protect all assets plugged into the whole electrical system. Just a thought. ;)
Very nice setup. I'm in the process of putting in a 6kWh split controller/inverter with 5.4kWh of solar with 20kWh of EG4 LiFePo4 batteries with a couple of transfer switches. Offgrid until I connect on. I have a feeling that the system you set up there cost a wee bit more than mine. What is your take on the hardening? If an EMP went off over the US, could that system actually stay up and running, or is it still a tossup? You have a lot of wire attached.
20 kw solar + 50 kwh storage. I've said it for years, and ill keep saying it... this is the future.
I like that you are training Jr (Engineer 598). He needs to fatten up before he graduates to 775 Jr.
No issues with the wireway extending more than 6 inches from the wall under the main breaker panel? Not sure if inspectors care about that usually or not.
Jesus, that's the tits! Shame the UK has such little amounts of sun, my tiny system suffers with the lack of sunshine, none the less, this is awesome, what a setup! And that place is amazing.
Is it possible to put the ground mount up high enough to store a tractor under it and still have the seasonal adjustment?

Ive used both and I can tell you from my experience that the xw is a nightmare. Several youtubers get sponsored by them for promoting their surge capacity but if you used both you would avoid xw like the plague. Ground faulting all the time for the charge controllers after 2 or 3 years rendering them useless. The software interface is horrendous from the 80s or earlier. Solark is beond the best out there. You can actually ask questions and get help with solark. Good luck with xw if you buy one. Youll regret it.

Electric water heating. The fine line between 'green' and 'stupid'.

Did you not have to be connected? It is just helpful sometimes if there's a problem to be able to troubleshoot and make sure the system is running optimally. It is also nice to be able to update the firmware, but once you have your updates you can remove the Wi-Fi dongle and be totally off the grid.
