In Hungary the fleeing Cumans got settled down in the middle of Hungarian Kingdom (together with some Jasz people), they got completely assimilated, but we still have many names of towns, villages which have the name Kun (Cuman) or Jász in it as a reminder they were living in those regions in bigger numbers. Fun fact in Hungary the last man who still knew the Cuman language died in 1750 and the Cuman language also influenced Hungarian so we use some words of Cuman origin.

I think that keeping track of where they are born and where they are living is important in the case a country conquers his home location. He would be elegible to become part of the other country, in that case. This makes me think: What if France does not own Corsica during the age of revolutions? Would we see the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte in, Italy or Spain, instead of in France?

The attention they pay to the details amazes me for real. You can see the blank spot in the center of Anatolia, right next to the Ottomans. The state present there is Ahiler, as we know from previous Tinto maps. This state is not a beylik like other Turkish states in Anatolia. Ahiler was an organization which is based on Bektaşi sect of Islam. They sped up the process of Islamization of the Anatolian peninsula. They consisted of primarily artisans of Alawite-Bektaşi Turcoman origins and they had a republic for a brief period of time around Ankara, the capital of modern Turkey. The fact that they knew and implemented this on their game makes me definitely more hyped about EU5. I think and hope that some kind of merchant-artisan republic right next to the Ottomans and Byzantine will bring a great flavor to the upcoming game.
Historically, de Valois, Burgundy, Anjou-Naples are houses of one dynasty : Capet. The Aviz (Portugal) are Capetian too
Great video ludí! I love ur history input
Great video as always!!
Thanks for the video and your time and work covering all the info about project Caesar!! I have the feeling that this EU5 will be something between EU3 and Victoria2. And I love the way it sounds!! Also it explains why Vicky 3 is so different to Vicky 2. Something like... EU5 more oriented to trade, politcs and conquest and Vicky 3 more society related.
I'm really liking the graphics. Such a beautiful map. Glad to see they are putting a lot of effort into ensuring historical accuracy
9:24 I think it was a priest in like the 1400's who just wrote a list of Swedish monarchs, starting literally thousands of years ago with Oden and through like "Bogusking XXVII" until he reached actual historical people in around 980. Dude was like the OG "My source is that I made it the f up". Basically he thought it was embarassing to not have a cool history so he made it up. I think this list is somewhat related to the fact that the first king named Karl (Charles) was the 9th as there were eight fakes before him lol, we're currently on the 16th Carl and half of them totally lived at the same time as the Pyramids were built and definitely ruled half the world, trust me bro
If i am not mistaken, the 2 Burgundy dinasty's are different. (Forget it, Portugal has a junior branch of the burgundy dinasty, i've searched.)
im liking the UI's look
Portugal starts with "de Borgonha". This means in a couple of years from the start of the game, there should be a sucession crysis: João de Aviz vs João de Castela This means Portugal should have a really badass General at that time: D. Nuno Álvares Pereira And should have a very dificult battle for independence. Playing as Castela should have an event to claim Portugal during that crysis.

It probably will be avoided considering that the crisis happened because D.Pedro I hated his wife.

Just a couple of ideas in case paradox devs are looking, and if you are this all looks pretty good can't wait, also Ludi great content as always keep it up and definite yes to royal marriage WC! It would be cool if we had a way to set up peace deals like the one that led to the Surrender Of Maine event at the start of eu4 for France and England - maybe a way to peace out with land being promised in 20 years or when your current ruler dies sort of thing. I'd also like peace treaties to be a bit more diplomacy based, maybe something turn based like HOI4, but also with the surrendering enemy having a place at the table. If they've still got something of an army left/they occupy territory then historically they should be able to counter offer or even try to claim some land of their own as part of the peace deal - sometimes even a losing country gained some land in a war. War being less generally map painty would be cool as well, slowly blanket sieging to win a long war is never fun - some sort of cross between CK3 and HOI4 would be cool with distinct victory points (but more dynamic because we will be able to build places up over time more than HOI4) and also taking advantage of the new character mechanics to make things like capturing the heir or spouse of your leader a massive chunk of war score. HOI4 idea again, but ship designer! There were all sorts of cool and interesting ship designs around in the age of sail and it would be fun to be able to create a hybrid merchant/heavy ship or a long range speedy circumnavigation machine for instance. I've not checked every dev diary so maybe this is confirmed, but tech tree? The linear path of tech is kind of lacking, it would be fun to have the ability to level up cannons, muskets or formations in military, or focus on architecture, currency or education for admin, for instance. That's 5 for now, and if any one of them was implemented I would be very happy, kind of expect some form of the third and fifth to be part of the game already. Oh wait the ability to make your own religion/form your own form of an existing religion during the reformation years!
Ludi’s videos on dev diaries are my reasons for living. Thank you for your content❤
The Movilesti were a precursor house/dynasty to the Bogdans, which were the the first rulers of a united Moldavia.
@LudietHistoria
Ай бұрын
no they weren't. Give me your sources please. Before the arrival of Dragos I there were multiple disunited entities there with afaik no mentions of any Movilesti to rule them all. I'd love to be wrong though so please give me some books or references and I will go through them
Have to say this history book is dynamic.
Regarding Moldova: Before its appearance, the East Slavic tribe of Ulichs lived on these lands, who disappeared under the onslaught of nomads and fled to other tribes and were assimilated.
The Luxembourg dynasty in Trier: Balduin was archbishop and elector of Trier from 1307 until 1354, an impressive rule of 46 years. He elected his own grandnephew as King of the Romans, Charles IV. (who was later crowned Emperor by the pope) in 1346.
Borjigin is actually not a dynasty but one of the branches of Qyiat tribe. It is quite different from regular dynasties, since the Qyiat tribe was considered as noble tribe among nomadic folks.
10:19 you made my heart pit a pat. Cheers to Blackadder !
Cant wait to see the itsly map
2:00 Another thing taken by Imperator. I like with the amount of stuff they take from Imperator. I hope they also take the missions and ambitions system from it.
3:58 maybe if the location they’re from rebels, the character also rebels, for example, if they’re a general, they become a leader of the rebel army
super video!
Project ceaser salad looking great! 👍
For Moldova, I think there should be the descendants of Dragoș, the first founder of Moldova. Bogdan, the second founder, came in Moldova in late 1300s and killed the son of Dragoș (called Sas). Until Bogdan, Moldova was a military march loyal to Hungary.
Actually, the more I learn about this game, the more I think it's Imperator Rome 14tth century.
Hoi4, Victoria 3, EU5, CK3 making a collab game would be amazing too.
I hope that the where the ruler is living could be tied to some bonuses, like if they are living in an urban centre there would be some bonuses to admin efficeny or even trade. On the other hand if ruler is on the countryside you could have some nobility bonuses. You could even tie this to some monuments like Versailles...
It seems like when a character is lets say in Avignon they might be give bonuses to there like production taxaction etc. But also when that city got sieged by the enemy, probably they will be taken as hostage or worse get themselves killed.
Blackadder seasons 3 and 4 are the funniest imo. You have good taste Ludi.
They need to allow England to restore the House of Artois to the county of artois. Also does Scotland own a tiny slice around the Loire valley? If so thats cool because its what the de Bruce held in exile.
Not sure where to post suggestions for eu5, but here goes one: There should be a function for a unit (army or navy) that prompts an event bubble and pauses the game upon reaching the units final destination. In addition to that, the bubble should give a 'go to' option. This would simplify wars that span the entire globe and make life a lot easier imo. I have thousands of hours being subdued in life because of eu4, but this would help my condition.
To be fair, it always was very important to have some kind of marriage between houses in Europe, even in the 18th century. Only that by the 1800s almost all the royal families were already related to one another. Thats why the the queen Victoria was basically related, through parents and children, to all the monarchies in Europe (mainly: Prussia, German states, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Russia) the thing was to try to strike a blance between marrying the local nobles and marrying other monarchies. The only other way monarchies entered in alliances was through shared causes like coalitions or religious leagues.
A little bit of CK in my life, a little bit of Vicky by my side, a little bit of EU is all I need, ya merging all my games in one big beast 🎵
I think, the place where the character lives would impact his/her religion and culture. A lot of Russian nobles spent half of their lifes in France and then spoke French better than Russian.
Ludi uploded the video faster than i could make dinner to watch it.
It would be great to have a gradient map mode similar to the development map mode in EU4, which, when you click on a nation shows which nation you have a distant marriage/claim on. For instance, a cousin (under a different family name) that sits on the throne of another nation would be a darker colour and a distant great-grandfather would be a lighter colour
the way this game has been described and whats been showing has created a hypetrain on steroids
The ruling dynasty in Aragon should be "el casal de Barcelona" because of the union between the ruler of the county of Barcelona ("Ramon Berenger IV") and the queen of Aragon "Peronella d'Arago" in 1150, so the male's dynasty should be the one, and if it was the female's one it was "la casa Jimena". Correct me if I am wrong
Oh look Paradox trying to portray Ludi as a king in EU5 lol the likeness is pretty good.
This character/dynasty system is gonna be awesome for Anbennar I’d like to see the election system for republics if it’s just an event again or something more in depth
The fact they put Olivença in the hands of Portugal 😯

Im very excited. But really hope they do something about the way this map shows. There's just so many weird little countries and corners. Kinda hard to look at. I really like EU4's map, easy to look at. CK3 is also more chaotic but still okay. If they make it more like that then its a bit better i guess with multiple layers :)
I want to point out that while he was focused on Denmark, I noticed the part of Denmark he said was sold to Sweden in one of the other map videos was under the Swedish dynasty on this map. Which means the Denmark being divided thing may already be being represented.
9:18, speak for yourself, minmaxer. I look at the history stuff in ck3 and ck2 all the time. It help me find potential claimants, lets me, yes, admire the rulers, and also lets me bask in the wonder of the pre-game start history that they've bothered to include, which is an awesome attention to detail and worthy of your respect.

hoping that coallitions will be shown by country power or size not alphabetically, since if you are close to the HRE there could be a lot of tags involved, and it probably is more relevant that you know if Venice or France will join as opposed to Ansbach and Baden or whatever 1 location country you made angry in the HRE.
I propose that paradox calls this project EU 5 and call the game Caesar to troll ludi
14:15 Denmark did exist, it just didn't have an "owner" 1332-1340 in Denmark is called "Den kongeløse tid" (The kingless time) most of the kingdom was pledged (mortgaged) to Holstein counts. yes mortgaged then Valdemar IV Atterdag (the epithet meaning "Return of the Day"), was to simplify a long story chosen as king. his daughter Margaret 1. would unite scandinavia under the kalmar union
My hopes for the game that I haven't seen mentioned before (although I didn't dive that deep for it so sorry if somebody told it already, and i wasted your time): I know it probably requires a great amount of work, but I wish that the interface will reflect at least the current age you are in. In-game menu backgrounds, character portraits, any kind of 2D or 3D art you see in the interface (maybe music as well but that's probably too much). For me that would be great for immersion. I know Johan told in today's Tinto Talks discussion that the characters themselves would change over time (like getting funny wigs after a while), but i hope that extends to everything else as well, and we don't get things like tricorne hat advisors in 1350, like the commandant in EU4, which is only immersive in the second half of the game.
Maybe place of birth could influence e.g. a general's skill in a certain environment (e.g. they are familiar with cold climate)
The map of Vic 3, the characters of CK3, and the foundation of Eu4. This is the Frankenstein I always wanted. Now if you could draw front line commands like Hoi4, this game would be absolutely insane. 💯
Fun fact Castille its most likle going to have a Civil war disaster or something if they change the disaster mechanichs, because is in 1350 when Alfonso Xl current monarch of Castille at the start died of the black plague traying to take Gibraltar, event that started a civil war betwen Pedro l the cruel or the just only legit son of Alfonso, and Enrique (future Enrique ll) one of the many bastards the King had and the count of TRASTAMARA 🧐🤔
Do you think capturing military leaders or nobles, ie. capturing a mercenary captain and recruiting them, capturing an enemy commander and executing him to help win a war, sieging a capital and capturing royal family to gain war score, etc. be a thing ? Would this impact PUs ? Can you recapture character ? Also surely royal marriages aren't required for alliances or else republics especially those with frequent elections would not work, or maybe they just get an alliance request bonus naturally as a republic
For the Capet in Navarre I think this has to do with Charles "the Bad" wich was a cousin of the king of France, as well as the king of Navarra and the count of Evreux, and tried to press his claim to the throne of France
@Atromboniste

I like seeing what my leaders did!
“That seems very, very, very easy just to conquer the world by marrying everybody” So basically there was this family called the House of Habsburg- 7:26
I hope we have the history map as in the EU4 on launch. I don't want to wait for simple map mods like religion map mode to come in updates 2 years later just like in VIC3. Also, hope they improved the history/battles recording mechanic, in line with their attempt to improve and make the rulers or characters more alive.
A ruler or heir that was born in Stockholm should have a morale- and movement bonus when leading an army in battle in the Stockholm area. You should also be able to pick who is going to be your number two in PU subject's lands. And that choice should impact how the subject develops.
17:56 Charles II « The bad » of Navarra has entered the chat.
maybe a ruler with a high badboy score would be more likely to have a "hunting accident"
Rurik did not found the city of Novgorod. By 862, when Rurik got there, Novgorod was already a major trade city between the Norse and the Russians.
Can't wait to dominate as the ruler of houses 'The Mighty Knight' and 'the Expert Scholar'!
Man I love this but also makes me wish it was already here but they need to take their time
One thing many forget that will be in EU5 is rise of timurids and Timur
I wonder who ruled over at the St.Petersburg area as it shows the Geminid dynasty
Every time I watch a ludi vid I get native deodorant ads
They need to make Timur and Napoleon important characters in this game.

trier is the arch bischopric, it was ruled by a luxembourg at that time
You think we'll be able to play as Timur the Lame in EU5? Loving that new Gurkanid formable in EU4
I really hope that cultures are malleable, maybe not modular like in ck3, but maybe a system that takes stats into consideration to create bonuses or malices. High professionalism speeds up mil tech, yet one cultures pop die off disproportionately during conflict and they become more pacifistic. You have a high income and pops are more willing to invest, but in underdeveloped lands the pops are more susceptible to wasting their income. Starting and event flavor added in would be a massive plus as well
If you compare it with victoria 3 what was time span of showing maps and actual relaese date?

does this new game make any distinction between dejure land and land actually settled? like northern scandinavia being claimed by norway sweden and novgorod but not actually settled they just claim its all theirs with very little actual control?
