    I highly recommend prism scopes as their reticle doesn't disappear despite running out of battery. It's a good long term budget option, especially if you can cowitness them with some backup iron sights.

    But there's only two prism optic brands that are worth a damn. Primary Arms plx and Trijicon Acog. Everything else sucks so much they are borderline unuseable. I've tried 4 and only the top two deliver on glass, ease of use with eye relief.

    I’m totally against a red dot for EDC. Heard too many stories of it getting snagged or they don’t even use it in a self defense situation. A flashlight ofc. You don’t need a red dot if the threat is like 10 ft away from you. Imo ofc

    Growing up, every S&W revolver in the house had aftermarket grips and a trigger job. When I grew up and bought my own revolvers, the K-frames got “duty tune” actions. J-frame stayed stock cause I wanted them to ignite primers consistently. Got into Glocks and played with connectors but didn’t take long to figure out that they performed best in stock form other than sights. I haven’t messed with triggers on anything since. I agree that starting out stock and learning how to shoot is best.

    I bought a trigger for my carry pistol (P80c) and one day when I got home I did a functions check to find the striker wouldn't release. The only way to remove the trigger was to take the pins out and remove the entire assembly while connected to the slide. Put the trigger that came with it back in and never another problem. I'll never touch the trigger again.

IT'S EVERYTHING A GLOCK WISHED IT COULD BE. IT'S BASICALLY A FACTORY CUSTOM DUTY PISTOL. SO DON'T GOTTA CHANGE A THING, IT'S PERFECT. JUST ADDED SHADOW SYSTEMS COMPENSATER, SUREFIRE 300 TURBO, T.REX SIDECAR

    On the subject of red dots vs irons. I think John Lovell (WPS) made a great argument FOR the red, or green, dot. He says that there are many advantages to iron sights and that he is faster with them in a quick and dirty scenario. BUT he also says that there is one single advantage of the red dot that over arches all other advantages of the other, and that is 'threat focus'. He said the fact that in a fight you are most likely to threat focus and having your focus on the target also means your dot is in focus too, not so with the front sight. Train all you can on that front sight focus picture but this threat focus issue remains an issue for most. Another advantage some claim is that those of us with less than stellar eye sight often have an easier time with a red dot over iron sights. Personally I like the idea of keeping the irons, even if just flip up ones, so you can always revert to them if you need to. I like the co-witness concept.

    Taylor Tactical sells a trigger spring upgrade kit that comes with a trigger spring, hammer spring, and a grip screw that has a smaller set screw inside it. The purpose is to run it up to a factory mil spec trigger to take the creep out of it...that thing works. I've got it in my Frankenrifle and the trigger just breaks now.

    Thanks for the video. I would be interested in a video on the tactics for using a weapon mounted light but realize KZread is likely not the place. I competed for years in IDPA and used a handheld light with a pistol and as you said we were just basically giving ourselves away by leaving the light on. I took a class with a SF guy almost 20 years ago and he had the same outlook I think you and others there have which is the weapon is a tool and you should be able to pick up almost any tool and use it effectively. I integrated that concept into my training, using striker fired, DA/SA, DAO, revolvers and SA/1911 handguns in training sessions and competing with each in a match or two. Thanks again!

    The best investment I ever made for "shooting better" was a set of snap caps and thousands of dry fire reps. Bone stock is the way to go in my opinion. Take the money saved and put it into ammo. But optics are useful. For sure. RDS or magnified optic. Especially in low light or at distance. You said it but I feel it is worth repeating: going with all mil-spec/stock allows you to get EXPERIENCE and learn where your needs are not being met. Then address the actual deficiencies. Buying shit because it looks cool on the internet is stupid in my opinion. But I guess if "looking cool on the internet" IS ones goal, then get after it.

  • @BuckF0eJiden
    @BuckF0eJiden Жыл бұрын

    I'd much rather run an LPVO over a dot. Even on a shorter barreled rifle, running a magnified optic with a top/piggyback mounted dot, you're giving yourself several advantages. Most importantly is redundancy. If one sighting system goes down, you'll most likely have the other. You're also able to run two different zeroes. A 16" 5.56 running a top dot (+4.5" above bore, on average) and a 65 yd zero gives you a fantastic trajectory out to 300. You also gain the ability to passive aim with night vision, assuming you're using the right dot. I run a top dot on all of my builds. Even the SPR and LR308s I've done. That always on true 1x makes transitions super fast. Using it for anything inside of ~200 yds, and then lining up longer shots with the dot and just dropping your head behind the scope is a very easy way to acquire sight picture quickly, without touching your magnification settings on your scope. It also opens you up to better optical clarity, and reticle choice. My 16" GPR is currently host to a Shepherd 3-9x Rugged scope and a top mounted Holosun 407c. I have another, identical rifle using an ACOG/RMR setup, and the 3-9x setup blows it out of the water. Hands down. LaRue makes a great trigger, too.

    An ar15 will always need these 3 things, a light, sling and an optic. Get a schmitt FCG, they make triggers for everyone. If its got an S on it its theirs If your BCG isnt carpenter get one. lots of ammo and mags, I dont belie in an empty mag as being useful. Pistols, just shoot them, know where to aim, buy a gun that has a good holster. If you cant get a Safariland holster for it I wouldnt buy that gun. I dont believe in upgrading pistol triggers. Pistols should always have a light on it, night sights are junk.

    Most lowers are going to far outlast your barrel. Milspec or otherwise (although it seems commercial spec is going the way of keymod and the do-do) There are at least 3 ways people use the word milspec •as a tolerance "milspec is milspec, poverty pony or Daniel Defense doesn't matter. •as a quality level "Switching from a milspec to cold jammer forged tightened up my groups •as a general specification, with sone brands using better materials, better tolerance, better fit and finish but if the buffer tube is closer to 1.148" than 1.168" it's probably milspec (as long as the form and shape of any interactive part on the reciever us correct) *only the third is correct from iirc*

You shouldn't be pulling your gun out of concealment if you haven't already positively identified the threat, period. Its like that one cringe uncle talking… hell say things like THOSE FOOCHIE SHOES HAHA 800DOLLARS WTF ARE THEY MADE OUTTA GOLD HAHA EVEN IF I HAD THE MONEY I WOULDNT THATS STUPID… like yea we know u live off of the government bro… its cringe and they wana sound funny. Guys who say gucci ars just put a twostage trigger into a palmetto because its “just as good” and will put all their money into the optic and zero into everything else… I had so many of those people try and make fun of me for buying fun guns… i bought a scar and they say “muh ar fifteeen is lighter u should sell it and buy a ar15 cause parts…” Or when i bought my fn249 they were like “u should sell it instead and buy a daniel defense and use that money for ammo “ like if i dont shoot wayyy more than them already. All im saying is these people have nothing better going on than to try and make themselves feel better for being poor.

    Getting firearms advice from this channel is probably the most laughable proposition on the internet.
