On Saturday 15th May 2021 HST's on the Midland Mainline were made history after almost 40 years dominating the route between London St Pancras & Nottingham, Sheffield & Leeds. Lots has changed during their reign of the MML. New liveries, new engines & new operators but overall the same trains doing what they were made for. I have many memories of these HST's back in the days "Midland Mainline" when I was younger.
In this video I've compiled some of the my best footage of these 125's in action from their last year of service. Starting from summer 2020 when the blue, VP-185 powered engines were still the main attraction until their withdrawal from service in December 2020. To the transition over to the ex. LNER red HST sets (including many mix & matched sets!) right up to the last few months when the sets were reduced to 6 car formations, 43302 got painted back into Intercity Swallow livery and renumber 43102 and 43274 got put into EMR purple livery.
Footage includes both high speed shots of the HST's doing their thing at 125! And some arrivals & departures at stations across the Midland Mainline network. Footage taken at London St Pancras, Harlington, Flitwick, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering, Market Harborough, Leicester, Loughborough, East Midlands Parkway, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield & Leeds. As well as a few lineside locations in between as well.
First 7 minutes of the video feature VP185's still, from then onwards the LNER red sets take over. But towards the second half of the video look out for the Intercity livery & the EMR purple livery.
The last shot in the video was filmed Friday 14th May, a day before the last ever service. So that was the final weekday departure from London of an HST ever as it leads the 19:04 service to Leeds.
That is that, the end of HST's on the Midland Mainline. Also marking the end of any HST passenger trains from London and also the last slam door passenger services.
Thanks for watching!

What an end to an era, will miss making my journeys on these HSTs. Despite their problems, they were magnificent trains.
That's the end of my childhood, sad to see these HSTs go
The last of the true HST’s running on a mainline out of London gone the end of an era
Superb video. Nice one. A fitting tribute to the final months of HST's on the Midland Main Line.
I think these were also the last to have their original doors. The rest have been modified to have sliding doors. On the bright side, that means nobody will ever get whacked by a pantograph pole causing their death.
Please don’t make the HSTs go away... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

@@nathanentertainment8213 Yes, they are not built YET, but they are being built right now - I heard testing at the Newton Aycliffe test track will start this summer on the newest units.
The iconic INTERCITY 125, class 43s with drawn from London St Pancras M.M.L services, take over by the 222 voyagers in 5/7 coach

222’s are called meridians. They’re not taking over, in fact the class 360 EMU’s are taking over as well as the IET auroras which will enter service in the not too distant future.
My bf loved driving these. 😢yep he is an EMR,MML and ex Toton driver. Only those who know, know😂
