You would think in today's day and age, the manmade boundries would no longer define us, no longer constrict us from considering our neighbour's problem as our problem; and yet while some of us thrive, some continue to fall. This only goes to show a change in humanity starts with a change in mentality, world issues such as this require us to act selfless to help others so we can be selfish in continuing the pure essence of humanity. How can we deem the advancements in currency and technology as fruitful, if they are the last ones to reach those in need?

I love the ILO program! I hope there will be more institutions for these children in the future. Of course we should try to mention these things more. I hope the day comes when all the child workers go to school.

If the UN removed all the child labor in the world then that would leave many children and families to starve to death. Child labor is necessary as it's the only thing third world countries have to offer and if it were removed then it would these third world countries without any source of income leading to longer suffering and chaos. Instead what the UN should do is to promote better child labor conditions and invest more into these third world countries to allow them to prosper faster into a first world country so they don't have to use cheap child labor as their source of income.

This breaks my heart to see..

Child labor is something every country has to go through and even all first-world countries today have used it before at one point in time like America and Great Britain. If we removed child labor in these countries that would leave them in an even worse situation because then they wouldn't be able to afford the little food they have for themselves and their family leading to even more suffering than what they already are experiencing. Instead what the UN should do is invest money into these third world countries so they can afford to ban child labor without negatively impacting their economy or offer another path for income besides cheap child labor

Not only we're doing nothing. We also helping the country do those things.

There is nothing we gain from child labor. I think getting rid of this is a challenge for us. Children are our future, and it hurts to exploit them, and if this is the price of exploitation, child exploitation is a crime.

​You see, due to colonialism, the "countries" were more like provinces under control, so when the Europeans left, they left a power vaccum which alongside everybody with reasonable administration went with them. Alongside complete draining of Africa's resources and war and conflict started over borders drawn during the colonial era, we have massive economic and social problems, which leads to child labour (duh), ofcourse, having to explain how colonialism ruined Africa isn't something I knew I had to "elaborate"... And did you pay attention during history class? Or are you asking this out of a genuine question you didn't know the answer for? The world may never know.

It's heartbreaking to see young children working long hours in dangerous environments. We need everyone's attention and effort to eliminate child labor.
