    Beautiful Friday evening (our time) dear Jimmy, the new guitar looks very good, the matte finish is nice, the weight is absolutely OK. I am no longer inclined to heavy guitars, I even use special straps for my back, suitable even for a bass guitar. The gig bag looks like a quality piece, too bad about the defect on the neck. Techwood is cool, I have it on an Aria type LP for about $400. It is quite low maintenance to some extent. The body looks very comfortable, I like the shape. The audio demo sounds very good. I'm looking forward to the next video and I wish you a nice weekend (it's already spring, almost summer weather here +- 25 degrees Celsius). Greetings from the Czech Republic. Pavel CZ.👍👍👍🎸

    This guitar is indeed a handsome design, despite the QC issues. I agree, it might not be Fesley’s fault, but I can’t be 100% sure either, as I’ve seen several reports of experiences consistent with yours out there, so it’s clearly NOT an isolated incident, and until I see confirmation of good ones or PROOF that Fesley has corrected the issue, I will stick to IYV and Firefly. Yes, this one is indeed the perfect “eclipse guitar” with those unique fret markers! With those extra contours on the back and the reduced body thickness, I actually think this guitar looks more like a clone of the ESP Eclipse than of the Les Paul, although the ESP Eclipse itself is obviously a derivative of the Les Paul, too. I know some Gibson fans might call the bolt-on neck sacrilege, but personally, it wouldn’t bother me. I’ve kind of come to the conclusion that bolt-on neck joints are often stronger than set necks made with dovetail joints, or even many with mortise and tenon joints-take the Gibson SG, for example, which is absolutely NOTORIOUS for weakness in the neck joint, especially in its early years (which are also some of the most collectible for some strange reason). Set necks do have the potential for greater elegance and upper fret access, but then again, many bolt-on neck designs nowadays (like Music Man) have very elegant contours with good upper fret access, and likewise, many set necks, including the Les Paul itself, are just as blocky as bolt-ons! Sustain? Some of the longest sustaining guitars are actually bolt-ons!

    Well said as usual PG! Appreciate your stopping in and sharing your thoughts not only on the design, but the long standing myths between the differences between set neck and bolt on necks in general. My thanks…🎸👍

  • @zuperdee

    @zuperdee

    3 ай бұрын

    @@JimmyStewart1 Absolutely! Some truly fine examples of both kinds of neck joints can be found out there. Personally, I no longer have a preference for one over the other, and I like my set neck guitars just as much as my bolt-on guitars. I don’t have any neck-through guitars yet though, mostly because in addition to being rarer than the other 2 methods, neck-through guitars often seem to be heavy like a Les Paul, especially if the neck/middle body portion is made of a heavy wood like maple. Interestingly, Les Paul’s original “The Log” guitar that he designed himself was really a neck-through design, with removable “wings.” It weighed like 13 lbs too, if I remember right. Les Paul must’ve been a glutton for punishment!
