The Fastest Way to Get Clients and Grow Your Business

How to Get Clients Fast. Everyone wants to get more client and grow their business, especially if you work as a freelancer or consultant. Here is the fastest way to get clients, grow your business, and build a sales funnel.
It's going to come down to beating down doors physically and virtual. Stop the build it and they will come thing, its done, its stale and you're going to lose if you only do this.
Identify people in your target market with the budget to pay. Present them with a body of work and solutions that would matter to them and deliver value. How do you do that? Find people who are already paying for what you can offer or are at least paying for advertising. Then determine if you can bring something to the table, then start by making yourself known to them.
If you do this both online and locally you will get new clients and you will make more money. Combine that with a strong body of work and some marketing savvy and you should be just fine.

I also think fear may be holding people back for reaching out to other outside clients. The fear of not knowing how to approach or rejection. There is definitely a lot of moving parts to get a deal together.

I don't really know how to actively approach potential clients though. I don't really know where they are. Also it's more like I don't know what market I have to be in to because it feels like there is no open potential market anymore for my service so I keep going back and forth. I really need some help..

Loved this video, Roberto! Such real, practical advice. Having clients come to you would be ideal, and you should be doing some sort of longterm marketing to get you there. But like you said, if you need clients right now, the best way is to introduce yourself and put your name right in front of them. Keep up the awesome work! :)

I struggled with this for a long time. Here's the definitive answer. You need to create a relationship with your local business community and build your client base slowly by doing amazing work which leads to referrals (Word of mouth marketing). You need to join your local chamber of commerce, go to every event and network. Before you go out and pursue clients you MUST study the art of selling and make sure that you dress well and look professional no matter what age you are. Also, i recommend creating a portfolio/brochure that you can pass out to showcase your work. While you're doing that, you should be doing content marketing whether its KZread, blogging or instragram ( instagram is an absolute MUST for graphic designers). Try your best to always have a project to work on, attack all fronts, stay consistent, do amazing work, be confident and with time all of the seeds that you planted will start baring fruit. Good luck!

Great advice! One of the (many) ways I get clients is with testimonials. People like to see what others are saying about you. When someone emails, tweets or messages me with praise for my work, I ask them if I can use it. They always say yes. Then I add it to my page, my rate sheet, a blog post and also share it on Twitter, Facebook or other social sites.

Roberto Blake!!! Busting down doors with the value on the vids! This video was so refreshing and valuable to watch. Some people beat around the bush with this kind of information and make you watch an entire "webinar lead up" into buying their program, just to get real answers. (I've never really purchased one of those programs but that is how I assume it goes). Thanks for being so present on KZread! You are inspiring me to continue to do the same. In regards to your question, I like the mixture of #CreativeThoughts and Top 10 style videos. It allows the viewer to have a more real connective experience as well as a more linear lesson, depending on their mood and what they want from the video.

lol thats such a clear and easy way to start out.. yet most of us designers are way to passive when it comes down to making new connections with companies. Ive actually tried this, but not to the extent in such detail.. I also learned that its important to become friends with those potential clients "before" you show them what you can offer them without coming on to strong or needy lol ..I made plenty of mistakes, but learned a lot from it.. Anyways, this is one of your better videos Roberto, good job!

I'd like a mixture of these chatty type videos and top tens. Really love this kind of "go and get it" attitude. Gary V said something along the lines of "Don't say 'no' for the other guy" and that has inspired me to want to investigate whether I can help a business and my viewers at the same time, by demonstrating products. Just about to jump in to asking...

Thanks for the great information. I like the condensed conversational format packed with valuable information like presented in this video. You're certainly on to something in addressing this as I watched an 'online business mentor' comment after one of her mastermind sessions that many are wondering why they're not making 10k a month that others are making - immediately; so the build it and they will come mentality is an interesting attitude development. Clearly there's amazing opportunities available for making that kind of money for those willing to put in the work as you mentioned.

Even making videos specifically tailored to them, describing my relevant skills and working through their job ad on camera.

Everything you've said here is spot on. The issue is that to market your self to be better than what they have is hard to sell when people don't know or understand quality and the cost at which it comes. That is the issue I have. I can turn out better projects than what others are getting but asking someone to give it a shot when what they have is "working" is a lot for them to change. Business owners don't want any kind of "downtime" or "transition period" to try something new, even if it's more cost effective because of their fear of loosing money. I'd love to hear a solution you might have other than move on to the next potential client.

I have the opposite problem to you... I would be able to get clients easily... I always have for any job or sales job I have done... but as a freelancer I have no idea how to give them quality... I have no idea wtf to do to give them an end product as I've never delivered paid work for a client... but if I was confident in my ability to deliver the creative work professionally I'd have no problem engaging clients... if I was you I'd just simply walk into businesses in person with a one pager that shows what you are all about and just ask to speak to the owner... if they are not there hand them the one pager and tell them to give it to the owner or to set up a meeting another time.... I'd just hit like 500 businesses in 1 month in your local area... it'll work... someone will bite... If we lived in the same city I'd do it for you for commission upon gaining clients. ... in fact, you could probably run an ad in the paper and do just that... hire people purely on commission and get them to approach businesses for you. What is the service you offer to people? I am just curious. Nice to meet you by the way.

+Chad Sway try going to wedding expos to get more high level clients. Offer anniversary packages to get repeat and referral. Create a email list and client tracking system so you check in with wedding clients to do newborn pictures a year or so later... Create a referral incentive program based on paying deposits... Shoot commercial stuff for the other businesses that cater to weddings... like the flourish and wedding planners etc... Whole business model...

The reason "build it and they will come" used to work is because it used to entail that what you were building was public or involved many people, meaning it could get exposure and word of mouth. On the internet no one knows it exists unless they find it. I wrote an article about it on Production Hackers, my blog.

Really enjoyed this vid Roberto. Been trying to watch at least one a day and take some notes to reread. But I think this video seems like it could be summed up in three words. "Go get it." I've tried waiting before with writing, and that really doesn't work. Heh.

Creative thoughts videos are thought provoking and helps me create as someone who leads rather than follows, I would rather be at the crest of the wave.
