    Hi, question for you... can you plug internet into the 10Gb port? The Blue WAN port says 2.5 / 1GB WAN, so that does me no good if I have a 3 or 8 Gb internet connection.

    How have you found the extent of the range? What effect do barriers, walls and ceilings have on its performance....I purchased a new LG G3 OLED panel and it has WI-FI 6e capability...and would like to mount it in a bedroom with several walls between it and where my router will be installed.....thanks in advance...

    @jonnywishbone1342 great question and I am still fooling around with router placement - I put the router on my dresser while setting it up - which is at the front of the house. I have a 3 bedroom one story condo - with a great room and hallway to the back bedrooms. While the router was there - coverage was top of the range everywhere - pretty incredible and the handshake with all my devices and tv was flawless -- with very little set up. SO I decided to move it to the attic so that I could catch the outside gazebo. then my coverage in the house went from excellent to good. But the coverage on my back deck and gazebo went to very good and I put a tv out there and streamed with no issue which I could not do before. So - I am thinking about an aimesh extender for the internal but honestly this router does such a good job - it might be a waste. So it looks like the signal in my house is better with the router on the same floor as the devices -- centered somewhere would be absolute best. Signals seem powerful enough to go traverse walls and bounce their waves everywhere. I have the GT-AX 11000 but the 16000 is a beast also. I was definitely impressed with speed and ease. I am a software guy with tech guys in my company - so i do appreciate a good product when I get one....

    @@samhawkes6597 Merlin Firmware allows for other programs to be installed on the router that the stock firmware does not support. For instance via Merlin I run Skynet (an additional firewall), Diversion (ad blocker), Yazfi (enhanced guest network), Speed Merlin (alternative speed test directly through the router, Conmon which checks ping and line quality of the internet connection. None of those can be installed without the Merlin Firmware. Hope that helps.

    It can be useful for traffic on the local area network since routers also act as network switches so that devices that talk to each other can send and receive more data. Aside from that, some devices might be better with or even require a wired connection even without utilizing the full bandwidth of that connection (such as gaming devices that may require lower latency without requiring fast downloads), so this allows for other devices that are wired to the router to still be to take full advantage of the rest of the allocated bandwidth that isn't being utilized.

    @@JasonEdokpa anyone that's paying for 2.5 gigabit Ethernet is it going to want to be able to utilize the full potential of that connection on any given device connected to the network now if I had a 2.5 giganet out Port that you can connect to a 2.5 gigabit switch then it would make sense

  • @JasonEdokpa

    @JasonEdokpa

    @@philcollins3458 I might have misinterpreted your original question, but in either case, you would still be able to use the full 2.5Gb connection across multiple devices that each have 1 Gb connections. Routers like these still function as network switches, so it would be unnecessary to connect another one in most cases. And considering that this is a consumer product and not a commercial product, most people that pay for 2.5Gb internet are not expecting to receive all that bandwidth on a single device as it is pretty rare that any consumer devices have higher than a 1Gb ethernet connection (except maybe high end gaming motherboards I suppose?). In addition to that, some home network devices do support LAGG (link aggregation). This type of configuration is very common in routers since it usually allows for multiple devices on the same network to transmit and receive data upstream of the network without congestion.

    Did you power of the modem first before connecting it to the router? If so, you may have to call your ISP to unblock it. Another thing that could happen is when setting it up, you update the firmware and it won't connect. Do a factory reset and try again. I've been using ASUS routers for years and they are amazing.
