The FALLOUT After Baby Reindeer’s ‘Real’ Martha Fiona Harvey EXPOSED | The Talk Documentary

A show that became an instant hit and captured the attention of millions across the globe, Baby Reindeer remained number one on streaming service Netflix for weeks. Telling the twisted but allegedly true story of a man and his stalker, but it's what followed in real life that has captured the attention of the world.
Netflix sold the show as a true story, saying they'd anonymized any people involved, but die-hard fans hunted down the real life Martha from the show.
Fiona Harvey went public with Piers Morgan in an interview that broke the internet, showing that the story was far from over. In fact, it was only just beginning. This documentary details the fallout after Fiona's 'unmasking'.

✨ Laura Wray gave Morgan a 1hour in depth & very credible interview that should have got more than the few minutes airtime here. People need to realise that *a person can have 'mental health issues' & still do awful, terrible things, while fully in their senses* . *Mental health is too often being used as defence for everything & to excuse really bad criminal behaviour* Fiona Harvey clearly has these issues but she knows exactly what she's doing, shes a nasty piece of work & we have to stop allowing 'mental health' as a defence or to prevent justice being served on these people. They very often know exactly how to manipulate the law, the system & the public. *As someone who suffers from mental health problems myself, i find its insulting & unfair to allow people to abuse the issue in this way*

I've been stalked: it's very frightening. The person in question was under psychiatric care, & my husband & I contacted his psychiatrist, explaining we didn't wish to hurt his client but we needed this stalking to stop. It continued so eventually we took him to court. Post court the stalking stopped. There was no question of $ involved: we just wanted to live our lives in peace. Two others we knew were also affected, but didn't wish to pursue it further, fearing an escalation of the behaviour, & release of private information.

SmithBehn (law firm in UK for Netflix) didn’t drop the ball to this extent. Harvey’s attorney presented a “Basic” DBS saying there’s no criminal record recorded. We need the “Enhanced” report which does not spend the record of an offense like this. The Basic would “reset” her record after a period of time. The pain this woman has caused so many people should not be rewarded. And she shouldn’t be allowed to hide behind “mental problems”. Officials should have taken Wray’s alarm more seriously to begin with.

Ok. All of these people are pissed because Netflix didn't do enough to disguise Martha. Netflix gave her a criminal background and a conviction would have been just two ways of disguising her. Now she wants to sue Netflix because they didn't portray her honestly. She can't have it both ways. Also, DONNY DUNN, the CHARACTER, was the one who typed the true story line. IT WAS DONNY DUNN'S STORY. It's not fair to diagnose her as mentally ill? Omg! All anyone has to do is watch the interview and 5 minutes in you'll see for yourself this woman is a fruit roll-up! The big one for e was her telling PM that Laura Wray HEADHUNTED her because she was an expert in employment law. That crap was so damn easy to debunk it's comical. Netflix had a duty of care to Richard Gadd too. He’s a damaged young man so Netflix come and ask him to write a series. They should not have said it was a true story even though it is. I doubt he had anything to do with that decision. It may have one or two embellishments. This is artistic licence not lying. It’s to emphasise the trauma. And Richard Gadd was brutally honest about myself. That was courageous of him.

finally...all that about saying it is a true story and NOT declaring it being "based" on a true story and not saying stuff being fictionalised is clearly not true...why Morgan insist on misleading all? No legal case to win...the fact the character seems to go to court, plead guilty etc is just proof of tha, fictionalising and dramatising the plot!....." no defamation" it is fictionalised and facts are added/changed...

No one seems to be mentioning that the part where he TYPES 'this is a true story' is within the drama of him re-telling his story. Usually a film/series or doc will state that it is a true story or based on a true story BEFORE the drama begins OR during opening credits. Here in Baby Reindeer, the story has already begun so it can be argued that it was part of the drama of him recalling the events of his experience. At the end of the series during the closing credits it says: Based on the play 'Baby Reindeer' by Richard Gadd. Although it is the same font, there is a distinct difference with how the text is portrayed - one is typed and one is obvious credits. It is however, still sloppy by Netflix.

Ithink it’s fair to say that Netflix have failed in their duty of care toward (at least) two vulnerable people here. I hope Richard Gadd is getting the support he needs in the same way as Fiona Harvey (rightly) appears to be. I’ve finally watched Baby Reindeer (having seen the fallout before seeing the series). It’s compelling. Weirdly I didn’t really feel like it was about Martha though. Obviously it was to an extent, but I felt more like I was inside Donny’s brain/journey & Martha was only one of many toxic elements of that. By the end all I could think was that given the intense backlash I hope Richard is receiving support. It would be utterly tragic if the public/legal response to telling his story causes him to spiral back into mental illness & self destructive behaviour.

So far Fiona has only denied stalking her, which she has every right to do since there is no conviction… so I wonder, what will Wray Sue for? It’s not Fiona’s fault that Gadd decide to use Wray in the series… why doesn’t she sue Netflix too?
