    So glad you profiled Dr.Buss. To me he built an organization and a brand. Now days the lakers are just a brand. Dr. Buss was a hard worker, he worked in the field in the cold as a youth. It is true even after Lebron leaves no one is going to want to join them cause of Rob and Jeanie too. Everyone blaming Lebron is dumb because they were having issues years before he even came. The Dwight Howard and Nash move was still dumb too when they did it.

  • @jamiekelley4076
    @jamiekelley407610 күн бұрын

    I think the problem with Jeanie is she tied her entire Laker's legacy to an aging LeBron. She went all in on that horse and now she has no way of getting off that ride. It is going to take years and years for the Lakers to recover. They either need to somehow land a current youngish star once they're contract goes away or they got to get lucky in the draft. None of it will matter though until LeBron's chokehold on the organization goes away.

He left in part because Phil hooked up with Jeannie, Dr. Buss didn't care, and with their relationship being frosty to put it lightly he saw the writing on the wall on what would happen if they ever got into a dispute. He was also dealing with severe chronic depression as outlined in his autobiography and wasn't dealing with the huge amount of stress that came with the job well so it's no guarantee he would've stayed much longer anyway even if he and Phil actually got a long. Dr. Buss died in 2013, it's Jeannie who deserves all the blame for not bringing him back when he was available and interested in returning after she fired her brother and Kupchak in 2018.

    From a Celtics fan, Jeanie has ruined it. Jerry was a fantastic owner before he tragically passed and made you wanna play for LA with the lakers and gave you that California vibe while playing. But now we got guys picking smaller markets over LA, 2nd apron does have something to do with it, but I think the lakers organization as a whole has lost their way. Jeanie clearly is catering to lebron and will do anything to get him to stay thus why they drafted bronny. They were also the only organization that complemented Bronny at practice sessions. The Lakers don’t seem to care to get better, they want to help lebron’s legacy and sell more lakers gear. Jeanie also wants to prove she can run the lakers better than her brother and losing the biggest name in the sport would be horrible for her. It’s a sibling competition that’s running the lakers

    It's interesting to me that the nepotism everyone is pointing to for the downfall of the Lakers is the LeBron James/Bronny James issue while the true source of nepotism that has led them to this position is Jerry Buss and Jeanie Buss. I'm not saying the Lakers are the only team that employees nepotism, absolutely not. Also, I am not a LeBron James fan whatsoever and I am not defending him pushing the Lakers and running them into the ground but it is the weak, fame-seeking, ineptitude of Jeanie Buss that has allowed this to happen.

    Jonny, Jerry West is the best general manager in the history of the national basketball Association. He helped build the showtime Lakers. He kept the showtime Lakers going. He got rid of the cancers named Van Exel and Ceballos. He picked up O’Neal. He picked up Bryant. Then he got Jackson. He set the Lakers up for success and to make sure that success was real… He allowed Phil Jackson, and Jeanie buss to push him out the door. His on court and off court success make him the single greatest Laker. (Greater than George Mikan. Greater than Elgin Baylor. Greater than Goodrich, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar, Johnson, O’Neal, Bryant and James. And don’t even get me started on self-deluded fools like J A Adande who think that chick Hearn is the greatest Laker. I moved to LA hearing of the great chicken stew and only found a sad, old, self aggrandizing, self righteous jabber mouth, who could harp on for 20 minutes about an “unforgivable” pass or the length of a player’s hair while only biding his time to begin talking about jello. Only mushburger is worse.) West, loved the Lakers, so deeply and passionately that he bought them the championships under Jackson by letting Jackson kick him out the door. West then built the Warriors dynasty. The Lakers demise began the day they rudely and unceremoniously got rid of their most loyal employee, insightful person and best evaluator of talent. Thank you for the video. I always appreciate your work.

You gave a lot of great examples of the terrible decisions that they made. I think your frustration is understandable. I too would be very frustrated if I was a Lakers fan. It also really bugs me how they treated Jerry West. You asked a good question at the end. I don't see things improving unless ownership changes or unless Jeannie Buss learns from her mistakes - and the mistakes that her brother and Kupchak made - and improves. At the very least, I think a better GM/executive should be hired. I don't know if she will replace Pelinka (probably not), but if she does replace him with a good GM/executive, I can see the Lakers improving and, at the very least, make some solid steps towards returning to their glory years (maybe not immediately, but over the medium to long term, significant improvements would be probable with a good GM/executive). Great video again. Have a nice week. :)

Having said that it may be a dark period ahead, which should help get rid of Pelinka which is holding the development of the future back. I’m sure you know of the Celtics dark period the double whammy of the death Len Bias and then Reggie Lewis combined with the retirement of the “Big 3” caused the dark period for my Celtics in the mid 90s through the mid 00’s and took that long to come out with the hiring of GM Danny Ainge, the development of Paul Pierce, and finally KG and Allen trades finally bringing us out of the doldrums.
