My favorite little manual of all time would have to be the one that came with physical copies of The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on switch because its stylized after the legend of zelda's using its own isaac-y flair and really is cool to see some classic Isaac items with descriptions and art work like those older manuals!

Oh hey, this is a fun video. I really like the recommendations at the end: I hadn't heard about either game, and you make them seem interesting. The editing is mabye a bit too flashy for my tastes but don't let that stop you, it is fun to watch either way. Make no mistake: This is good youtube content. Well done. What I genuinely miss the most about manuals is that it could be quite interesting to read about the game's lore (or historical background) whilst not being behind a screen. There's a couple of games that experimented by putting that content inside an app instead. But when it comes to reading large amounts of text nothing beats paper. Then again, some game series have surprisingly decent tie-in novels. There are some digitially distributed games that just have their manual come in .pdf form, like the excellent nerd-wargame Highfleet, which is always a delight to me. Highfleet is designed to appeal to a certain 90s nostalgia, sure, but I think the main thing that appeals to me about the manual is just that I can sit down and read something about a game that interests me.

thanks for watching! I agree with the screen vs paper stuff. didnt know about the games that used apps actually, thats definitely interesting! I cut a whole section in this video about how nintendo tried to do digital game manuals but ended up ditching them. Probably because of that same sentiment with paper being the best medium for these! also, hadnt heard of it, but ill have to check out Highfleet! glad you enjoyed!

I was groveling to my friends earlier about how gaming YT is mostly filled with the same looking and sounding guys. It’s so refreshing to find someone talking about games who doesn’t look and sound like everyone else! I know you don’t upload a lot but I will now be ride or die whenever you do okay?
