The Falador Massacre - RuneScape Documentary

Ойындар

June 6 2006 is a date burned into the minds of every RuneScape player. What should have been a day of joy and elation at Cursed You's House Party for becoming the first person to 99 Construction turned into one of fear and terror once the fresh hiscore-topper expelled several hundred players from their house.
No one was safe as open world PVP - the deadliest glitch RuneScape had ever seen - saw people struck down from Rimmington to Falador, and even Edgeville. This is the story of the most famous event in RuneScape history. This is the story of Cursed You... and Durial321.
00:00 Introduction
02:21 Chapter 1: The Construction King
12:41 Chapter 2: The House Guest
18:41 Chapter 3: The Bug

Not to mention there was already a monumental event taking place when the Falador Massacre took place. I mean back then in 06 with the cost of resources and much less ease of access, getting 99 construction and being the first to do so was massive and there was even a party to showcase it, then it was just as quickly overshadowed......I mean what a day that was.

If you're interested in these types infamous gaming moments, you should look up the world of warcraft disease spread back in vanilla wow. Basically a boss had a mechanic that put a disease on the player, but the disease could also be placed on hunter pets. A hunter left the raid and spread the disease killing thousands of players. It was actually used in studies to show how people react to a plague being spread as players were avoiding people and major cities because major cities were a death sentence to enter due to the disease.

this is really an ode to how raw runescape really was. being a young kid on this game exposed you to armor trimming scams, players emoting as female characters for gp in varrock square, and losing everything you worked so hard for to a boss or if you were unlucky enough... this bug. the golden era was really the trenches and im sure most of us can agree that we learned a lot of life lessons early on due to the nature of this game. thank you for all the research you put in this video could not be any better!

on the other hand, it was a way better community. People just hanging out, having drop parties for no reason, playing the game as intended. Asking to see qpc or rc emotes because they were so cool and it was a BIG deal to have them. Nowadays you can be maxed and worth 11 digits and still be nobody. One of my fondest memories from way back was somebody giving me a guthix skirt out of the blue. It was no small gift (at least on a free world), worth way more than anything I had. I think I lost it in the wilderness and was devastated. Simpler times

It's crazy to think that only a couple thousand of us max were actually there for that. I was so young and truthfully didn't even fully understand what I was witnessing or how monumental it was going to be. I was 15 years old in 2006. I can't stress how many hours I've spent looking through footage people have collected hoping to find my original RS name caught in any of it but of course with my luck it wasn't hah. thankfully for me I was poor noob and didn't have alot back in 06. Durial was targetting players wearing gear/rares so people like me who had little to nothing were just following him around with no threat towards us. I remember Jmods and Player Mods warning us over and over to bank our items, Some players were standing right next to me risking P hats who weren't listening to the warnings as it almost seemed like some sort of joke made by Jmods so some of us didn't even think it was actually real until I seen a player die and his stuff appeared then it turned into madness and people started sprinting for the banks. lmao. I'm in my 30's now and there are so many more memories this game has created for me over the years. I play RS3 still and i'm close to Trimm. Thank you WILL for re-creating some of these memories in a production style reminder. I know theres a ton of people like me who have played this game since they were 11 years old who love watching these and love having our brains refreshed. This is a great video and I enjoyed the entire hour. Thanks to jagex for creating a game we all love and have had with us since we were children! Much love from the USA! - Ezle
