However, a week after Vince McMahon told Chris Jericho he will win the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 33, Vince changed his mind and decided to have Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg but this time for the Universal Championship on the line at WrestleMania 33 instead of Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 33. This frustrated Chris Jericho, feeling he wasn't treated as a main event wrestler or given a big push like Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar or Roman Reigns, which is why he left the WWF and went to NJPW and AEW.

Tbh, I’m glad they didn’t give Jericho that belt. I remember during that time before Mania, everyone knew he was going to leave very soon to go on tour with his band. So it would have been a very short reign anyways or he would have a Brock reign if they let him hold it. Not saying I liked the Brock and Goldberg decision though lol.

Finn Bálor- Held the title for a day Kevin Owens- Good and entertaining reign with a bad ending, he also always needed Jericho’s help to retain Goldberg- Transitional championship reign who made Owen’s reign a joke Brock Lesnar- Way too long reign and barely showed up, but made it feel a little special when he did appear Roman Reigns- Okay reign but didn’t have the fans support and had to vacate it Brock Lesnar(2)- A more decent shorter reign but didn’t put over Strowman when he should’ve won it Seth Rollins- Started off as a good reign with his win and the Styles match until it started to turn worse once Corbin got involved. Brock Lesnar(3)- A transitional reign to help get the fans get behind Rollins but it pretty much failed Seth Rollins(2)- A worse reign compared to his first due to him being more cringey, not having most of the fans support throughout his entire reign, and the Hell in a Cell match with The Fiend The Fiend- Pretty good reign with matches with Bryan but like Owens, had a bad ending Goldberg(2)- Another transitional championship reign that was unnecessary just to have a “dream” spear vs spear match with Reigns that didn’t even happen Braun Strowman- Decent but somewhat boring reign so far, the history with Wyatt is keeping this reign somewhat relevant

Let’s not forget the two facts that made some of these reigns even worse: 2 of these reigns big bouts hyped where at a Saudi show which, ironically, universally suck in just about every way Also the hyped Brock vs Goldberg title match gets recalled even less favorably when one remembers Brock stated he wouldn’t do the match if there wasn’t a title involved And like bring Hogan back from non-existence to please his Saudi master, Vince willingly got on his knees to please Brock.....again

Reigns(2): Great championship reign. Makes the title feel relevant. Great feuds with Jey Uso and kevin Owens. Currently carrying the title's legacy.

Bringing back the prestigious World Heavyweight Championship after the Brand Split was such a no-brainer decision, but of course they had to go the hard way and choose a horrible new belt with no credibility.

The belt looks like crap so what would you expect. It is nothing compared to the wwe championship. Even the intercontinental championship and United States championships have more value and look better than this junk. At least a full timer is holding it now. I

In a perfect world. The universal championship would represent the physical embodiment of the people’s champ. The champ the universe was behind. While the WWE Tittle would represent the chosen one by the company. Finn winning the belt made sense. And he should live remained the champ untill the fans decided who was next and earned there way up. Similar to the NXT Belt.

And now it’s heading towards 1000 straight days without being 😅

I will never get over Goldberg beating The Fiend When The Fiend came to Puerto Rico People lost their damn minds. So many cheers. I literally felt sick to my stomach when Goldberg beat him

*UPDATE AFTER WRESTLEMANIA 38* So Braun's title reign was terrible back in 2020. He eventually lost the title to Fiend. Fiend's 2nd title reign was totally horrible, and of just 1 week. Bray did nothing, but the good part of the reign was Roman came back but as a heel. That looked interesting. Eventually the heel Roman became the champion and from August 2020 to present day (April 2022), Roman is the longest reigning champion of all time and his title reign has been somewhat good. However, since the title reign has gone too long, it's both interesting and dangerous to see who would eventually dethrone him. He also became the first champion since Hogan to successfully defend the title at 2 consecutive WrestleManias.

I love watching this from the future where Roman is holding both belts whilst doing what Brock did with only one

I disagree. Because when the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was the only top title from 2014-2016, things got very confusing and out of hand quickly.

I just want them to replace this piece of garbage with the World Heavyweight Championship. Unifying that title with the WWE Title remains as one of the worse decisions they have ever made in my opinion.

I liked Roman Reigns rein with title. I was one of the few that liked his push because he is actually a good competitor. I think they should replace the blue strap belt with how the undisputed belt in wwe 2k20 (gold strap).

The failure of this title will be forever linked to the night the WWE ruined the Fiend, and also completely killed the Hell In A Cell match type. All three were damaged beyond repair in the main event of last year's ppv. Putting the Fiend's mask onto an incredibly silly looking custom version of the belt was the final nail in the coffin for that joke of a championship. Even the Women's Tag Team championship has had a more prestigious run.

Because of your Lithuanian accent, every time you say “Monday night Raw” I hear “Monday Nitro” and do a double take. At least you’re keeping my attention 😂

Dude, the collective groan from the crowd said it all. The match was amazing, the build-up was too. But the title's design quickly caused it to go downhill from there.

They just kept dropping the ball with how they handled the belt. I honestly don’t think the belt is going anywhere anytime soon so switching out with the big gold belt won’t help because they just are gonna book it badly like they are booking the Universal Title right now and how they treated the World Heavyweight Championship near the end of the belts life and right now technically it is still around but it was combined with the WWE title and they just removed the “World Heavyweight” when promoting the belt, on websites, and on match cards but it still has it on the belt itself. So many missed opportunities with the Universal Title like Braun should have been champion so long ago him finally winning it now doesn’t mean much. Goldberg has just been used as a transitional champion when I feel like they could have used him to have a decently long reign instead they have him win before Maina and just lose it, they could have done the thing they did with Brock and only had him defend it at PPVs. They could have called an audible during the first ever match for the belt and had Rollins win it so the belt wasn’t just lost in 22 hours, we did get Owens and Jericho just making Raw so much fun but then Goldberg got involved. Just so much has gone wrong with that belt and I’m honestly not sure what they could do to try to make it better

Actually It wasn’t oldbergs fault because he even said himself that the original plan was for him to loose to the fiend until Vince McMahon changed the plans.

I remember hearing Seth went off script and began "winging" the match, referee stoppage was apparently legit. Vince's call, there's an interview where Seth said he thought the abrupt finish sucked.

The Fiend gets it back at SS. He has his custom title to bring back.
