I think it was Shane’s idea personal. It’s been well documented that he’s a mma mark. Even wanted to buy the ufc at one point. And in ufc for a while all their championships designs were the same exact design for each division. So maybe he or someone saw that pitched it to Vince

  • @everxvi

I think the idea behind all 4 belts looking the same is that they're all equal to each other. The (Raw) Women's Champion became the first to copy the WWE Championship so basically that it's the women's version of the WWE Champion. The Universal Champion copied that being that it was Raw's version(at the time) of the WWE Champion. Then Smackdown Women's champion was just the blue version of the Raw Women's champion.

Wrestling Belts are easily one of the best things about pro wrestling. Just something about the way they look and feel; its awesome. Its a trophy that you wear as if it were a fancy piece of clothing or even a crown. Adorned around the waist; shining bright and looking somewhat garish, making the champion feel like a superhero. And whether it is worn, carried on the shoulder, in the hands, or held under the arm at the side like the NWA Champions of the 80s; it makes whomever is carrying that much more important than anyone else. It truly symbolises the weight that a champion carries at all times. Sure it might only be 10 or 20 pounds of gold (or silver or bronze), but what a title symbolises could be the heaviest thing these men and women ever carry. Sometimes, too heavy. Awesome video, Laurie.

I think my favorite belt of all time was the original IC title. But as far as WWE goes this most recent iteration of the WWE championship of both Men's and Women's variants have seen so much new representation it's hard to not to love what they mean. I know a lot of folks don't care for its design, though.

I worked for a fiber optical company called NORLAND PRODUCTS based out of New Jersey, from 2004-2010, and we made special adhesives for different electronics and under ground fiber optical equipment. WWE used our adhesives for attaching little red rubbies & diamonds ♦️💎 onto their belts. Between all the travel, and hitting people in the face with them, they would regularly fall off and need replacement, so we designed a special adhesive for them. As a life long wrestling fan I always thought that was pretty cool.
