Фильм және анимация

"WHAT IS COMING OUT OF ME?!?" Is something I hear pretty frequently from my patients during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. There are so many hormonal and physiological changes happening as your body works to grow, birth and feed your baby. Let's talk about what's normal with discharge, leaking colostrum, mucus plugs, bloody show, amniotic fluid, body odor, cesarean incisions, night sweats and MORE! And let's talk about warning signs you need to talk with your healthcare provider about.
Leave a comment telling me if I missed any fluids or any that you were surprised to have during your pregnancy, labor or postpartum period!

I appreciate that having a bowel movement during pushing is being normalised. I had my first baby when I was 20, and I read about it being possible so I brought it up to my midwife. She told me that it does not happen and that was the end of it. I would have been less embarrassed if I knew it was normal and mentally prepared myself for it. There was a lot she didn't talk to me about, because of my age and she didn't want to "scare me". All that meant was I was completely unprepared! I'm now pregnant with my third baby 7 years later and preparing for my third unmedicated birth. I've been watching your videos since I was pregnant with my second and have learned so much, so thank you!

Happy New Year!! Thank you for the video! I had some spotting/light bleeding near the start of my second trimester (or late first) and had it checked out. It was my first pregnancy and I was pregnant with mono-di twins. The bleeding was due to the formation or enlargement of a previously hidden benign cervical polyp. I was already considered high risk with the twins and having the cervical polyp only increased the amount I was monitored and in the types of checks I was given. My healthcare teams were absolutely incredible and I had such a positive experience even if things felt alarming at times. I did love the biweekly and weekly peeks at the boys to check on them too.

That mucus plug! I started to loose it 3 weeks before the labor, I had to ask my labor nurse what was it lol because back then, I wasn’t watching your super vids! 😊 Oh, and those clots, gosh that scared me more than once. Got like 2 big ones, first the day after giving birth and second 7 weeks after, had to call my labor nurse gosh that scared me. But, no worries, it was just totally normal as you said nurse zabe 😊

Not sure if it’s most obscure but the most mysterious to me during this pregnancy has been a daily white-ish discharge from the same spot in my upper vagina. Odorless. Every single day! Some days I can literally feel it coming out of me. I’ve just accepted that most of my underwear are now ruined lol

I’m sorry for your ruined underwear. Just one of the normal joys of pregnancy! Panty liners can be annoying, but many people like that they can be changed throughout the day 💗

Do you have any theories as to why I might not have noticed if my water broke at all or if I lost my mucus plug when I had my 2020 baby? I never got a straight answer from my doctor and I’ve always wondered. Maybe the august heat caused me to leak so subtly that I thought it was thigh sweat? But what about the mucus plug? I have always wondered. Just curious if you could speculate :) expecting #2 this July! 🎉

Sometimes it’s falls out so slowly it might have just seemed like discharge. This goes for both of them!

Probably the weirdest one here. I asked the OB and even she seemed perplexed. Every time I poop the stool has mucus wrapped and embedded in the tip

Is postpartum bleeding that tapers off and then starts up again considered normal?

What does it mean for your nipples to be toned? Does it mean that they are or are not toned if you are leaking colostrum? Just very interested because with both of my pregnancies I leaked colostrum, and as you said there was no difference to my supply, I've had a very good supply with both of my breastfeeding journeys! But just very interested to know what that means cuz I've never heard that before

  • @Nurse_zabe

Leaking is not a measure of supply at all. It's thought to be due to the muscle tone in the tiny sphincter muscles around every nipple pore. Don't Leak Much: You may have high tone in those sphincter muscles. Big Leaker: Your sphincter muscles may have less muscle tone. I personally leak very little after my milk comes in and have a larger supply and breastmilk storage capacity! Does that make sense?
