I'm a thirty year veteran retired military pilot and I take my hat off to this woman and all of her cronies. Bravo!
What a wonderful person! They all deserve the same amount of praise for their actions, men and women!
Amazing lady. As she says, "all women did something in the war". My mother (sadly deceased) fitted autopilots into Avro Lancaster bombers at Blackpool Squires Gate airport in the war.

Absolutely Amazing - Your Mother - These things are not mentioned much by the watching world. Most people think the war was all accomplished by The Men. Thanks for sharing that. Even though it was a year ago... It's still read in 2019.
6 1/2 minutes of pure gold.
RIP Joy
Wonderful story and lady.
What an amazing lady, this topic is coming up more and more. What an incredible service to country that needs more recognition.
Hats off to you dear Lady, flying a Spitfire was awesome and many still wish for the chance. (With of course the exclusion of Gen Z who know nothing that's not on an app). The situational uses are as broad as your imagination. For Example, Frail little old lady is getting on a 747, as she enters the crew are doing their checks and she says "I used to fly in the war", "sure you did lady", "yes I used to ferry aircraft and I flew Hurricanes, Mosquitoes and of course Spitfires". At which point the cabin crew in awe, knew they were lacking.
I want my daughter to see this when she is old enough to understand.
"All women did something"....So true....along with worrying constantly about their husbands/Sons who might never come home.
A great Motto to live by, what an extraordinary woman.
Speechless.
Joy Lofthouse represents one of the finest generations Britain has produced. Perhaps our modern day feminists find this a hard act to follow, no wonder ! 😎
Nothing changes. Kids aren’t interested in what you did with your life, even if they were amazing as this woman’s. Yes dear, I flew Spitfires..... Oh that’s great mum, when will dinner be ready?
brave women, respect
Great to hear her and what memories.
The single engine fighters like the Spitfire, Mustang had over 1000 HP were not easy aircraft to take off and land in. Many pilots were killed trying to take off and land these aircraft had large engines with big props on them generated lot of torque if you didn't handle it correctly they could get out of control and flip over. That still holds true today if you go looking at most of the vintage P-51 Mustangs which the pilot crashed and was killed in was either during take off or landing. Training was done in much lower more docile trainers because the fighters were single seat no way to do any duel control training in them.
Amazing woman 💪🛫❤❤
Astonishing lady !! :-)
There will be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover, just you wait and see! 😘
Bet she hurt or could have hurt alot of pilots egos being a woman who shot you down "A man it was most certainly a man "
