i love how many absolutely phenomenal directors becoming involved in one piece; first megumi ishitani, directing many of the best episodes ever in one piece like 1015 abd 982, and now Henry Thurlow, producing crazy amazing works like this episode. and you can see the huge difference between the directors so clearly in each of their episodes while still keeping the same one piece essence, it's amazing.

I meannn technically 90% of those animators/directors are toei’s own products megumi ishitani is toei grown talent she deputed on dbs final episodes and now does op so they mostly use their own animators and get some new ones or develope some new ones like this year they dicovered chansard vincent who is now a toei full time animator. Megumi,Nakamura and shida also are toei products

@Xh1920 Henry Thurlow has had its own studio, worked on wayyyy more stuff than just OP for the last 10-20 years, and has already said he's gonna leave OP staff in the near future. Chansard has studied animation in a france academy and, as he said, lives by producing work in the france industry, despite being contracted to OP. Developed by Toei?? Wdym? He wasn't even contracted to them until like, 6 months ago? Ishitani grew with DBS but already was a big talent by herself, as seen by her individually produced projects. With Nakamura I don't even know who you're refering to, but if you're speaking about Ryota I only know about him producing work for Toei, so you might get a point alongside Shida. This said, your general point is still wrong, Toei doesn't own any of these animators and it's not like they "lend them to other studios", it's often quite the opposite. Most of the big freelancers you see here can leave whenever they want and WILL leave to work on other stuff they're more interested in, the OP staff would STARVE without all of these freelancers agreeing to work on the show (which can be credited to the staff for recruiting them but also to the animators, who DECIDE if they want to work or not). Bottom line: Toei isn't the offer, they're the DEMAND, ESPECIALLY when it comes to freelancers. Even Shida himself isn't owned by Toei and can work on whatever he likes, it just seems he's comfortable working with them.

@@Percyco chansard and ishitani did works before op and toei but still little works not big projects chansard was discovered this year by toei and they took him also ishitani is literally grown by toei she made her debut in dbs and its staying with toei u forget toei can just find new animators and create new ones just like they did they don’t contain their animators if they wanna leave they let them but u forget their toei products after all toei is the oldest animation studio and the biggest literally even studio ghibli animators and directors were produced by toei how do u think they animated dbz back in the day that good ? Op staff aint starving bc they only hired foreign animators this year,sometimes they get by other studios but 80-90% of the staff its their own animators and they do send animators to help other studios just like they did with aot season 4 part 2 (u can tell by the animation diff they got toei animators) and demon slayer season 2,the only problem toei has is the work schedule,that they do only weekly shows and that they don’t focus on using their best animators everytime but only use 1-2 mostly and give others to others show in others studios to get more money

The opening of this episode was another thing, Eustass covered in blood, the silence and images of his life, just amazing 👌👌👌

This was honestly one of the most brutal episodes,the amount of blood the way it was smoothly animated and the punches you could actually feel how hard they were throwing them good job to the foreign animators and how terrifying they made bigmom misery sequence

Love that Henry kept the theme of playing with colors for the BM vs Kidd and Law fight. Best part was easily when they just attacked BM with normal attacks running and teleporting around her. I always appreciate when they show us that fights aren't just big move after big move because that when the choreography shines.

Yeah, I loved it because it sold her power. You got the impression that if she caught them she would destroy them, that they can't go toe to toe. They had to stay evasive and keep chipping away at her.

Love that they're using the "To Be Continued" screen with more punch again. I'll never forget when it happened in the luffy/Enel fight where the episode ends on Luffys Rifle noise cut right into the end card.

The fact that we have a Disney-Feature-Film-Level Animator doing cuts in One Piece is insane

I loved how they put focus on animating the entire big mom fight. To see kidds Damned Punk animated was amazing, they did such a good job.

Big mom is animated so smooth. Anime doesn't usually lip sync on that level

Respect to all the animators making their first anime debuts and Henry for such a strong debut as a director.

One Piece has gone off the rails with the animation during all the key moments of Wano. I can't even fathom what they have in store for the moment everyone's waiting for. With the amount of time and resources they've poured into it, and with how epic the source material is, it's gonna be a hallmark in animation history for sure.

Everyones talking about the techniques, but Big Mom remained conscious the entire time and had the strength to hold herself up the entire time like dawg

Law instant transmitting like goku was the best part of this episode

Their duo has such harmony to be honest ; law has the ability to heavily damage big mom but not finish her off , but kid did have what law has lack , a powerful finisher attack

About time he used a railgun instead of attacking with lumps of metal. His fruit has so much potential

Those two fighting together is like two Bakugou's fighting together: "Don't tell me what to do!" *proceeds to do exactly what he's told to do* I love them haha

Law’s powers work so well in team fights. These fight sequences are so cool to watch.

I honestly loved Kidd in Wano, too bad Shanks didn’t feel the same way

I like how they used the Stampede version of the song rather than the one the regular show has been using. That one’s a lot more dramatic

the animation is so fluid

I love how Big Mom is losing her composure in little ways. Really shows her state of mind and how she's learning how screwed she is

Time and time again, One Piece makes me happy that I gave it a chance 3 years ago and now it’s my new favorite anime. And for a year, I’ve been caught up , and I’ve been enjoying every episode since then.

That animation is so smooth, doesn’t look like an animatic anymore. Very dope for how epic this scene was.

Seeing law make new friends given his backstory is so heartwarming

top tier fighting scene among all anime. top notch animation, Kidd and Law are so badass breaking Big Moms bones, sending her into hell and forcing her to lose her title.

So many years and memes about anime where the dialogue only has one or a few lip movements, like a puppet moving its lips, just up and down with the occasional widening. But now, in the GOAT One Piece, anime characters that actually enunciate and spell out their words with their lips. God-tier animation work, here's hope it maintains and even continues in future!

It was so nice seeing law use the “ Flying Raijin “ technique.

Kid and Law beating Big Mom is almost more impressive than Luffy and Kaido. Big Mom has some of the highest defense and healing abilities in the series. She barely took any hits on the roof meaning unlike Kaido, shes been close to 100% this whole time.

Spoilers: yeah but to be fair i 100% believe that big mum would have tanked this attack too. She only got "defeated" because law created that hole she fell through. Both kidd and law couldnt have lasted another round but still probs to them.

​@@CandoranLuffy without adv. Armament and CoC couldn't even scratch Kaido. But Kid does it to Big Mom even though he hasn't any of the significant weapons like Luffy. Just imagine Kid being able to cover his attack with CoC and his beam with adv. Armament, it sure would be one of the strongest attacks. I guess such a move from Kid would be slightly weaker than Bajrang Gun

Ironic that the anime giving Kidd a glowup like is will only make Shanks even more insane

Seeing everything Law did this episode really put into light how held back he was when he fought doflamingo bc of his trauma. If this man had any sense of getting over corozon he would've put up a good fight against flamingo

Big Mom is Definitely the best villain i have seen! She surprises me every-time she does something new! She is definitely unbelievable.

They really went in on this episode so much it shows how important this moment was in the timeline this was a turning point

The animation in this episode was insane

Imagine while Kidd was holding the Railgun, Big Mom jumped towards him & hit him with her sword which ended up 1 shotting him

one of my top 10 favorite episodes through the entire series by far.

Episode was straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I’m telling y’all, Kidd ain’t gone, he’ll be back with even more force and likely mastered con haki. Shanks just needed to hand him 1 more L for a power up.

Let's not talk down on Kidd just because Shanks no diffed him; let's rather focus on *why* Shanks nodiffed him: Because Shanks foresaw with his observation Haki what would happen if Kidd actually got to fire Damned Punk, and the sheer devastating power of it was so ridiculous that Shanks felt like he had no choice but to go all-out immediately because to fight Kidd for any longer than an instant would be risking the lives of *everyone in the area*. It speaks ridiculously well to the power of both characters, and, to be honest, I feel like if Kidd had started with a smaller shot that didn't instantly put Shanks in Defcon 5, and therefore Kidd had more time to warm up and actually fight instead of getting curbstomped while he wasn't ready, it wouldn't have been such a one-sided fight. Shanks still wins because Kidd doesn't have precognition Haki and wouldn't be able to land anything decisive on Shanks as a result of that, but Kidd would have come out looking a lot better in that case.

@@milsharkie Yea as much as I make jokes about Kidd just as much as the next OP fan, ppl are really overreacting to this. If anything it just further proves Kaido’s point of “Haki is above all else” Kidd had no way of knowing that attack was coming nor did he have the battle iQ to prevent such of thing. If anything I’m irritated that he didn’t learn his lesson from kaido and trained his haki before challenging someone else.

I love the DB Intermission references for Momosuke, if you guys look back at the episode, you'll see they reference a lot of poses done by Goku/Gohan and others. Easily one of the coolest beginnings of the episode

I started watching One Piece from the very beginning. I can’t wait to see all of this in a few months. Just got passed the Alabasta arc.

Henry D. Thurlow has given us a new era after 25 years. GOD DAMN GOOD EPISODE

I think this a top 10 Episode ever. The animation, the fight, what it means for the future. This was something special to watch

Law taking armament haki punches by Big mom over and over was badass AF

Not really bc Armament haki is the manifestation of will. Ppl hype yonko like they aren't human. Like they're just a power level, saying weird stuff like Luffy isn't Yonko level. Meanwhile Luffy's journey puts them all in his path, and we know he will overcome them to become King. So what's impressive about him taking punches imbued with the will of a tired big lady at the end of a hard fought battle? Just bc this character uses haki on that character, it's not some instakill move. It further manifests their strength. If she's tired from fighting Kaido, a dinosaur, probably like the whole strawhat crew, Queen, some of Kaido's men... not to mention she either knocked them out or at least scared them out of the fight, or had a draw... someone like that can't form strong haki. Let her get a nap then see if Law can "tank" even one hit.

Btw big mom is probably my favorite character in One Piece. Ijs ppl start thinking like Naruto fans when they see Haki. Ooh the metal hand do big damage! No, the point is more for dramatic purposes as One Piece is a drama. But yes it also enhances attack and defense. Which is enhanced more is based on character. Power level fanatics say Robin would one shot anyone if she had "haki". They're saying basically if she had stronger hands then she'd win. For one, she does. 2: strong haki is not an insta win. Each character has their balance.

@@BeeMusic2024 when you put some thought into it kaido isnt categorized as human and we knew this since punk hazard, big mom's human anatomy isnt human like... her skin is extraordinarily tough and one of the toughest exterior's in the verse i agree though, just bcz she uses armament punching law hard doesnt mean its something omnipotent, sure if law stayed there longer he would have died on get ko'ed but he stayed in place long enough to activate puncture wille but like u said it just further manifests her strength

@@BeeMusic2024 people REALLY dont know what haki is, that example with robin is just perfect it just goes to show how overrated armament haki is and just because it has cool black visuals and makes the user look more badass then that somehow is the end all be all... one piece fans are just a bunch of wankers fanboying daily over their pre determined agendas even when they have gotten debunked

This episode felt so much longer then it actually is. One of my favourite one piece fights/episodes now

I love how crazy they went in the animation! Law's Puncture Wille and Kid's Damned Punk

Law impaled her with a longer black sword making the holes deeper and kid blasting her in the hole is the icing on the cake 😍

This may have been the one episode in all of OP that has had the most foreign animators on it. Credit to Henry for bringing that American flavor to One Piece!

Its that western animators touch. So excited to see more western animators adding their animation skillsets to anime.

Kid will be always my fav of the three

Kid's Railgun is so smart and cool. Ton of science people predicted it but it's still so nice to see it as canon (no pun intended)

Been waiting for this scene to get animated! Did not disappoint, excellent work.

There are SO MANY FRAMES when Big Mom is speaking. It's insane!

0:16 Misery's voice here is freaking epic Best character imo who says "Hai, Mama/Yes, Mama"

Kidd looks hyped in this! He should definitely go after Shanks next to get his revenge!

0:27 felt like a movie. Kinda reminded me of a time where mcdonald toys were actually cool.

Crazy to think that if not for that massive hole and lava she could have recovered from this attack. Big mom was still a monster to the very end

He had to twice shoot her to push her off the island with his most powerful attack. She also repelled part of it with base conquerors haki and even soul pocused a bunch of subordinates to gain more energy and probably heigh so she wouldn't fit the hole. Law made it bigger and silenced her so she couldn't command her souls. Very nice ring out coordination of them but just shows how immensely powerful Big Mom is that they can't even think about beating her but to try to weaken/slow her at their max and then push her off.

Big mom felt so nerfed in this fight, kinda hard to see her and kaido as equals.

Love how each Yonko has different fighting styles. Shanks: Haki focused Kaido: Strong Haki with weaker devil fruit usage. Big Mom: StrongDevil fruit usage with weaker Haki usage. Blackbeard: Nearly all Devil fruit focused with a bit of Haki.

Kaido has strong Haki but his Devilfruit is clearly what actually carries him. He hypes up Haki a lot but ultimately he and Luffy are as strong as they are. Because of their Devilfruits.

I'd say Kaido is balanced. He's incredibly good with his DF and Haki

It's insane how the best looking parts of this episode were this, and kidd getting the beating of his life 💀💀

That animation of big mom’s face! That’s Don bluth levels of fantastic!

This episode is incredibly well animated, i haven't really watched any modern animes for now, but i really can't believe that the animation in anime can get this good I especially like this big mum scene 0:50, this is so epic

Most: "We can't possibly hurt her. She's an old lady." Kid: personally hand-delivers her to God They pulled out all the stops for this. Animation, cinematography, music, etc. Could you imagine all the work put into these two beating this Emperor, and then neither of them becoming one? That'd be crazy. They wouldn't clown our boys like that.
