I just love this channel. Been searching for some coherent and complete documentary on piracy for two years at least. Just decided to look up something related to piracy and saw that video (although I've been subscribed to your channel for long time). I got so hyped and went like how come I haven't seen that documentary before. Then looked at the publication date of 2 months ago. Thanks a lot for covering this topic! I can really vouch for the fact that that's the best documentary about piracy out there
History of anything you are amazing; thank you and your contributors for all your hard work. It is such a pleasure to enjoy your content !
So happy when I saw the length of the video, my favorite historian of all time

Great video, I quite enjoy this long-form version you’ve done. I find myself getting lost sometimes with the POV voices you do, but this had my attention all the way through

@@connycontainer9459 Yeah, that just sounds like they didn't give half a damn to tell factual history, and instead opted for a 1-2 hr easy "solution". I mean I love Gladiator, but it should never be taken seriously as factual history.
I live in la Hispaniola, it is sad and a shame that piracy is rarely mentioned. But there an event called "Desvastaciones de Osorio", or just Devastation of Osorio, where the spanish basically forced everyone to move away from north, to ruin the smuggling/trading with the buccaneers
Thank you for the content guys. For real. A lot of people love learning about history but don't have the drive to hit first hand sources like this on their own. Yall are doing a good thing and keeping it entertaining.

Man I love listening to these at work, well done on all the audio, you can imagine yourself there
I love pirate history…. But damn were they scumbags. This was a really great documentary you put together. I enjoyed all of it. I love how people can watch a whole video about how pirates were notorious for raping, pillaging, robbing, and slaving and still be like “man I wish I was a pirate”

Most pirates were poor ppl who choose to live a life of danger on the high seas, instead of living in shit like their poor peasent forefathers, they were brave ambitious men at heart and ppl respect that, they were enormous risk takers, who were ruthless in nature, predatory in mindset and ferocious in combat, basically an elite calibre of outlaw whose domain was the unforgiving sea These guys operated and lived in a level of freedom unthinkable nowadays, like Somalia on steroids

This is my problem with people who glorify vikings too. Do these people find what Russians are doing in Ukraine right now cool too? I understand that vikings had cool aesthetics but that's about it (and let's be real, even the aesthetics probably aren't nowhere near as cool as movies make them look like. Also, nobody will be playing Heilung in the background while you're commiting war crimes).
Thank you so much! You have a great voice

So glad KZread is finally recommending great history channels. Only took google spying on me throughout community college to learn my interests… One thing I really like about this video, and I don’t know if it was intentional, is that it sort of parallels the history portrayed in many of the Assassin’s Creed games.
