It took me a long while to get into DB and his recaps are way better IMO. Obviously, they wouldn't exist without original media, but he has a way of telling the complete story, while giving good reactions from characters. I rarely NEED to look at the screen, I can see most everything from just his descriptions.

I know the Anime had filler, but does the Manga (never read it) really not have any of Goku's training with Mr Popo? Not the Goku doll, the movements with the bell, none of it?

The announcer is such a chad. The guy can watch insane fighters despite being an ordinary dude. In the buu saga he dodges a kamehameha from trunks. He stays and watches to the end of every fight even if he could be blown away. We all need to be like the announcer

Fun fact: There is no mention of “friends” in that line of the original Japanese manga written by Akira Toriyama. The original line just says “ピッコロ大魔王に殺された者たち”, literally meaning “POEPLE that were killed by Demon-king Piccolo”. Although this version of translation is great and very faithful to the original material overal.
