It’s such a shame that the rest of the members didn’t keep the band going. Their instrumentals are pure gold. You rarely get to hear this side of technical djent metalcore anymore. AJ’s guitars spoke works and Skyler is so groovy.

Killer vid as always! If anyone wants a more in-depth history of Woe, Is Me/Issues, The Cozy Representative has a very well done series about them that even Josh Manuel, their drummer, has watched and confirmed pretty much every fact himself. Josh himself has also gone into a lot of detail about the history and his own perspective on what was going on with the two bands at that time as well. Idk if there's any VODs or clips available, but the full story is out there.

Issues Self-titled album was top-notch and took the storm in 2014 especially during Warped Tour 2014, I was able to even get my brother into them due to their "easy" listening due to Tyler Carter's R&B vocals. It's wild that after that album their music started to dwindle bit by bit and with the allegations that came out I'm not even surprised one bit.

  • @doomscrollingx

Issues were sooo ahead of their time, the Black Diamonds EP and self titled album defined my teen years. Musically they’re all so gifted. Tyler is such a scumbag, it broke my heart for the victims. I was also so sad for the rest of the band, they deserve so much better than that. A video on Jake McElfresh from FPS and Jack Barakat would be good I think. I love your content man 🖤

As someone who was around the circle of the band, I just wanna say I’m glad someone is making a video about this. The dude is still making music for other artists and I doubt they’re making an effort on actually growing. It’s unfortunate that a lot of people see these terrible things and can rub em off as just someone’s accusations. Too many of the same occurrences happening is not a coincidence.

Issues were my favorite heavy band at the time of Beautiful Oblivion and when Tyler was fired, it's such a shame they haven't been active with a replacement... I found it kinda amusing that these allegations came out right around the time Tyler opened an Onlyfans and claimed it's for music only, kind of a weird coincidence lol. Good luck for Skyler with Twenty One Pilots and for Josh with Bilmuri!

Amazing content my friend! I was unaware of Tyler's situation since I've only checked on Issues once in a while(their music was enjoyable to me though), it's always sad to see such a talented musician being such a horrible human. In case anyone wants a band with a vocalist that has that "Johnny Craig/Tyler" kind of vocal, I highly recommend Valiant Hearts(and Galleons, which is VH's vocalist second band), Tom Byrne is a phenomenal singer and lyricist.

Tyler Carter & Issues were my absolute favorite musicians and band when I was in high school. Tyler Carter was like my hero. I loved how he was this R&B singer in a metal band. I still think that combination is one of the coolest things ever in music. He was literally my phone screensaver for at least a year in high school. I even wanted to name one of my future children Carter. That's how much this guy and his music meant to me. Him and Jonny Craig were my favorite singers not just in the scene, but in general (birds of a feather flock together, huh? crazy how that works out.) I was absolutely gutted, shocked, and angry when the allegations came out. I didn't want to believe it and a part of me still doesn't want to. However, there's a part of me inside that believed it too. Since then, it's been EXTREMELY hard to listen to any WIM, Issues, and Tyler's solo music because of the allegations. While I still listen to Jonny era Dance Gavin Dance, Emarosa, and Slaves, I think the difference is that as a straight guy, the allegations against Tyler just hit home differently. I met him once, maybe twice and never got any weird vibes or anything, but just the thought that I could've been one of the victims, just shook me to my core. It's just a real shame all around. I still follow him on instagram, and honestly I think he like lives in Japan now. It just seems like he's always there or at least hanging out with some Japanese rockstars fairly often.

We all remember the issues era where it was clear they were gonna rule the world. They were easily going to the top. They were the band who could make metalcore (or whatever they’re classified as) mainstream! Then they dropped Michael and I think that’s the downfall from there Also I think what we forget about is most of these “abusers” are apart of a cycle. At one point they were abused too. Does this justify their actions? Of course not! But I think band members need to step in when they see a fellow member either show the signs or see something bad before it get worse. Normalize getting people help and normalize saying something asap. Not after allegations. Don’t hush it. Address it and end the cycle!!

It was dope to see another band making music in a genre that I liked from the state I lived in that wasn't Attila. Sucked to see how bad things actually were as the years pressed on. I’m so glad I found your channel! You are so funny and I’m fascinated by your content. It’s mind blowing how many artists from that time period and genre have displayed such problematic / deviant / criminal behaviour. It makes you wonder the power that popularity / fame / influence and access to young or vulnerable people has on the likelihood of displaying deviant sexual behaviour etc… like if these people would ever have offended if they weren’t famous, or if they’d have had any desire to offend. Anyhoo… I’m pretty sure they’re famous worldwide (?) but a local band here Lostprophets are probably the worst example of this with their singer. The mix of being a straight up p*do and having influence over others. It absolutely rocked Wales when the truth about Ian Watkins came out. I lived very close to where he was originally incarcerated and it always gave me the creeps walking past.

Another banger! The intro had me giggling, especially the feral unhinged voice you used lmao. And of course the Carters are up to no good. Why would I expect any different?

Funny that you mention jonny craig because I cannot express to you how much it pisses me off that both him and jonny just HAD to be shitty people while having some of the most beautiful vocals.

I never listened to Tyler Carter, but Jonny Craig's voice to me has always been a voice up there next to Jeff Buckley in greatness from his start to his last DGD album. I never liked his stuff with Slaves and just hearing all the stories of him being a horrible human makes it hard for me to listen to his current stuff.

I know this is a warped tour based series but would someone like William Control apply here? Not sure how much of warped he did solo or when he was with Aiden but Like, a lot of current emos literally don't even know about Wil's allegations, they just think it was a couple text posts when in fact, there was a whole sex cult and a tumblr detailing and showing videos of shit he did

@@Spermwhales93 I'm a brit and lived in the small band scene so I never went near warped tour from that perspective, but when New Grave (British revival of 00's emo, basically) kicked off, I met a lot of Aiden fans, and a few of my friends did shows with Wil And then, friends on facebook started talking about him, and posting shit, and like... In 2015-2016ish it was MASSIVE, but seems to have been forgotten? Like the allegations AFFECTED THE BRITISH PUNK SCENE.

@@HedeccaTamer know about the new grave thing very well, as two current members and one former member of Creeper are in my general circles. People don't realise how much the William Control stuff directly contributed to it falling over. He literally RUINED peoples' lives.

I was personally happy to hear Tyler getting fired from Issues because I thought it would open doors for them BUT Issues has been in limbo and they’ve made it clear they will not look for another singer…

Issues is one of my favorite bands and I have followed them since they debuted. I wish they would’ve continued with AJ as one of the vocalists. He’s extremely underrated for his talents. His vocals are SOOOO good. better than Michael perhaps 🤭

i have a friend who publicly dated tyler for years and the relationship started when they were underage for sure. they would publicly talk on twitter when he was underage. Michael bohn did the same thing. this was in 2014-2016

Hurt people hurt people. Tyler can never win. If it’s a long, drawn out letter to fans, people say he didn’t need to ‘word vomit’ when a simple “I’m sorry” would suffice. If he did that, he’s dismissed as being dismissive.
