It's such a great show, so many great characters to love...and sometimes dislike. And so many great storylines, relationsships, and in the same way as Young Royals it feels real and authentic, and the actors are about the same age as their characters.

I really think Wilhelm’s choice at the end was the right decision for his character. From the start of the show, even before he knew Simon, even before he was the crown prince, all he wanted was a normal life. That’s why he was at a public school in the beginning and not at the boarding school that his entire family went to. I don’t think he would have done this tho if Simon was not in the picture but not just because of the motivation to be with him but because Simon inspired him, and challenged him, and ultimately gave him the courage to choose himself over this responsibility that was thrust upon him.

the perfect ending 😭🥹. wille choosing himself and because of that he got his boyfriend. wille forgiving august was so satisfying too because it was not about august, it was not a redemption arc either. it was him wanting to let go in order to grow and heal. august got everything he always apparently wanted except for the thing he wanted most this season which was sara and that was his punishment for all the shit he did. sara putting herself first, felice having her friend (🏳️‍🌈) back. amazing ending to a heartbreaking but beautiful story

19:28 Yeah, it is a Swedish tradition that the family stands there greating you with those signs with your baby picture at your graduation, it's always a bit nervous, "hope they didn't pick an embarrassing one with me with food all over my face", and fun to look around at all your class mates as babies. And then your family hangs little symbolic gifts in a ribbon around your neck. Noticed how Wilhelm threw out the broken frog prince snowglobe, and then August got a little croquet one around his neck from the Queen.

I feel like this needs to be addressed...Felice was angry with Sara not because she was dating her ex...yes that was a part of it, but the major reason she was angry was because Sara betrayed everyone's trust by purposefully engaging in actions that cause serious harm to Simon and Wille and with none other than the person who directly caused so many problems to them...she was supposed to be friends with them. @@LM-EntertainmentAustraliabut August IS going to be looked at in the near future tho, I think they would make his life miserable if he tried to abdicate, he has no choice but to be the next in line, she is not going to be alive forever and Whillie isn’t going to be king anymore, even with the queen saying she thinks he will make a great king, I think they pretty much implied that he had given up that position when he walked out of the car running towards Simon (they are showing that he choose Simon over the crown) because if we are gonna be realistic here in the long run he would never be allowed to still be with a man when he becomes king, so it was always one of the other. Also it was also not even fully about Simon if at all, he had NEVER wanted that role, he never wanted to be crown prince and be next in line for the throne.

  • @LM-EntertainmentAustralia

@@oyinolubayo7079 i understand all that. just as wille did though.. august would still have to right to abdicate if it came to him being king in the future. i understand for the shows sake it makes it look like he has no choice.. but he would. otherwise, he could just burn the monarchy to the ground from the inside (which is why andicating exists and does happen in monarchies.) at the end of the day - juat like wille.. if the person isnt committed to the role.. theyre better off finding someone else.

August was always better at the royal role stuff, whereas Wille has always hated being centre stage, even when Erik was alive. One of the many beautiful things about this series is the amazing writing. It is so complex and layered it sometimes takes several viewings to completely appreciate what Lisa (creator and head writer) and her crew have done. Something that is often missed is that everything in this show echoes. The line that Simon says at the end of episode 5, "I can't do this anymore." is the same thing Wille said to Simon in season 1 after Erik has died. You probably won't watch the series again but, if you do, listen for the echoes.

I think that for Wilhelm the monarchy was a golden prison, August only sees gold and now he will know the prison. Also, maybe Sara's decision to break up with him was a kind of metaphor for the fact that his decisions from now on would no longer be his decisions, and he will have to endure that while Wilhelm is now free, a perfect ending.

🎉 for this reaction!!! A few things though: Madison (English speaking girl) is actually dual Swedish and American. So English is her first language and she studies in Sweden to be closer to that part of heritage, but was always nervous about speaking it. I don’t actually see August becoming Crown Prince as a punishment or prison. He’s always had the sense of honor and duty that would fit well with the role. And while he can never undo the bad things he did, he can move on and move forward and be better. And so, I think it was a great decision to have him be next in line. Last thing - while Wilhelm is giving up the crown, he’s not ex-communicated from the family. I could see him doing philanthropic work or other projects as a member of the royal family. Just without the restrictions of a prince. I think his character would go on to do beautiful things in the world.

I think Wille did it for himself because he knew that this would be his life from then on of he continued on as crown prince and king. He felt he'd lost the love of his life and it would probably just continue to happen if he didn't make the decision to live the life he wanted now. His psychologist told him last season that despite how you're born you can still choose how you want to live and I think that's one of the main messages that applies to humans in general.

I felt that the "trick" ending was more realistic and was not happy with it but I was contented. Even if Wille gives up the throne, Simon will still get all the press intrusion and social media grief. Wille will still need security staff. Everyone in the country knows who he is. Look at what happened to Prince Harry when he gave up his royal role in the UK .

I just love how August is going to realize why Wille didn't want to be king. Wilhelm never wanted that type of life, since the beginning he hates the attention it brings to you and how everything you do is controlled, however he had no problem with that because Erik is the one taking that role, he's not even crown prince. He suffered anxiety and was so frustrated with his life, thankfully his relationship with Simon helped him to get out of there before being king, it would've been worse. I also love that Simon was happy because Wille gave it up for himself and not just because he loves him. Even if things end with Simon, he will be able to be with whoever he wants and to live his truth, he will be able to give his opinion which he couldn't do by being crown prince. And August won't have that, he will be controlled in every aspect of his life, the monarchy owns him, him having an ED, anxiety and all of the things he has suffered from will drive him crazy and I think that's beautiful, he deserves it.

Exactly! And as it should be. You should not be punished for drinking underage because you might not have a choice (peer pressure or threats, for example). Don't get me wrong, I think a drinking age limit is good, but we should not punish kids for wanting to drink or trying it. We should blame the people giving them the alcohol. Obviously the teens who steal the alcohol is another story. But they should be punished for stealing, not drinking it.

You should check out the documentary they made, Young Royals Forever. It wraps this whole story up beautifully! It's only about 50 minutes and on Netflix.

Kinda makes me laugh that they literally could've just had the same ending in season 1. If Wille just said he didn't want to be King and August could have it... They didn't have to go through all that.

I was bailing my eyes out this episode!! I thought Wilmon will be endgame until ep 5 and how this episode went I was crying for them and then when he told his mom he didn’t want to be crown prince I started crying of joy I for sure thought they were not going to have the happy ending, I’m so happy they finally got their freedom to be happy together ! And I think this is the perfect punishment for August now he has no choice to be king and he will see it’s not everything he hoped for , he will have to change and be perfect he will see the truth to being king! I really wish they will do a one episode special where we see the future on how August is doing with the stress of being king, how Wilmon is doing, is Sara and Felice are doing !

Hallo from Sweden, beer can you drink with 16 but you can buy alcohol in a liquor store when you are 20.🍻🍾🍸🍹 We have a weird tradition in Sweden for graduation, you run out of you school and your family has big baby pictures of you and then they give you gifts around your neck and then you Drive with the big tractor and stand in a tractor wagon and drinking a lot of alcohol and singing and listening lode music.

You can drink when you are 18 here in Sweden, but have to be 20 to buy alcohol in a liquor store, but you can buy low alcohol beer when you are 18. The students that graduate are 18 if they have not skipped a grade and so its kind of a question of where they got the alcohol.

My Final observation! August won! The gays lost! Good moral teaching: Destroy gay love and win the crown 👑! Every gay child’s new dream. 😴 what a positive tale of homophobia rewarded, as they ride into the sunset like Thelma and Louis! Hopefully, there isn’t a cliff. Bad ending.

Interesting take, I don't think August was homophobic, he was just spiteful. Also during the end, he didn't get everything he wanted, and while he said being prince is an honor not a privilege, I'm sure he'll soon find out its not all its cracked up to be. If thats not punishment, idk what is.

@zodiackokoro4132 yeah. My understanding from it was that he sold the video to the press to get the money to pay for his tuition fees. Because the instant regret and dread on his face when he gets the call from Hovet saying his tuition is paid... wow..

Simon saying "i never gave up on us" is the biggest lie ever 😂 the first moment Wilhelm truly needed him (last episode after Will's breakdown) he was like "too hard. Bye ✌️" . I love that Wilhelm chose himself but id have preferred a happy for now without Simon. Also the fact that Sara got minimal backlash for what she did last season?!?!? And a happy ending? Also she was cruel to August at the final party (leading him on/kissing him) and that "youll get over it" 🤮 disgusting human being. Im officially a sara and simon hater.

simon was supportive and understanding of wille throughout the entire season but wille didn’t give that same energy back to simon. HE was the one pushing simon away and hurting him even if it was unintentional. if you’re unhappy and uncomfortable in a relationship, you have every right to leave. i feel bad for anyone in your future relationships
