They used to live in Donbas but it’s pretty clear they’re Russian passport holders rather than Ukrainian. They said very little about leaving when the war started, but they managed to leave when all of the Ukrainian vloggers couldn’t. Since then they’ve been travelling around countries that accept Russian passports. Anyway not to be political I’m still a fan and they still make interesting videos.

Anton, I am not American or a US supporter but after the USSR collapsed how were Kazakhstan going to afford to maintain their nuclear arsenal? And who paid to decommison and clean up abandoned Russian nuclear sites? That is why the flag is flying there. 🇰🇿🇺🇲

As I understand it, the USSR left the area after 1990 and they left a lot of nuclear waste and fissile material laying around. The USA asked the Kazakhstan government if they could assist with cleanup and disposal. The Kazakhstan government agreed. So USA, with support from Russia and Kazakhstan began cleanup and health studies on the local residents. I believe USA paid several hundred million dollars and provided most of the specialized equipment for the cleanup. That's why there is a USA flag at the memorial site. It is to commemorate the cooperative efforts of Kazakhstan and USA for nuclear waste cleanup.

That's just bullshit. Some US fanatic started a myth, and all the other fanatics are spreading it! In an earlier video in this series, the one where they first arrive at this site and where the FLAG is first shown, the plaque on the monument is also shown, with its inscription. The plaque says specifically that the entire monument is merely a memorial to the agreement between the US and Kazakhstan regarding nuclear disarmament, and they obviously felt that this is a meaningful place to put it. The flag and accompanying monument have NOTHING what so ever to do with any cleanup. If they were for that they would say so, but they don't. Anyone can go back to that video and check it. It must be in both Kazakh and English, because I understood it with ease.

Not very many, but the channel has been in managed decline for over a year now by youtube standards for channel growth.

This has probably been my favorite Kreosan video series. Always great with Anton. Real classic adventure with limited gear in a place that no one really knows about. Terrific.

Love you guys but if you want American fans you should have our flag touch the ground. And remember too you're driving a 2stroke so you can't Rev high for to long. Two-stroke are make to be rebuild after 120 racing hours. I rode two-stroke since I was 10

And you should do your research buddy. Here are some starting points: what gave USA the right to slaughter the natives and steal their lands? Why did USA drop nukes on Japanese cities? Why is USA sending weapons to Israel so they can bomb women and children in Palestine? Why has the USA been at war its entire existence? Why does it have 700+ military bases around the world? When you have answers to those, get back to us, k?

I spent 10 years in the United States Army for that flag that you disrespect. If you are not educated in world history, and about why my country's flag is there, then might i suggest you read up on what the United States did to help there. Even though I am an 'American' and despite what the rest of the world thinks of the United States as a whole, i can assure you that i have never been disrespectful to any country's flag, or their culture, either here in my country or abroad, and i have been to many foreign countries. There are many more Americans just like me, so please dont let what our elected officials do lead you to believe we are all just as screwed up as they are.

Oh this is actually a pretty good and reasonable comment. And it actually comes from someone who has worked hard on the military machinery and maybe even risked its own life and so of all people the one who would feel the most from such action of disrespect wrote a very eloquent and rational comment. Bravo sir.

Ok I found that flag part very disrespectful. You don’t understand why it was even there. It was put there because the U.S. helped Kazakhstan clean up something they had no way of cleaning by themselves. The USSR left them with a huge mess to clean up and they just wouldn’t be able to do it themselves. The U.S. spent over 100 million dollars to assist them and for that Kazakhstan put up the flag as a way of thanking the U.S. for the help. You had misunderstood the entire situation. Kazakhstan had no way of maintaining stuff like that after the collapse of the USSR.

You are completely wrong! That is a myth. In an earlier video in this series, the one where they first arrive at this site and where the FLAG is first shown, the plaque on the monument is also shown, with its inscription. The plaque says specifically that the entire monument is merely a memorial to the agreement between the US and Kazakhstan regarding nuclear disarmament, and they obviously felt that this is a meaningful place to put it. The flag and accompanying monument have NOTHING what so ever to do with any cleanup. If they were for that they would say so, but they don't. Anyone can go back to that video and check it. It must be in both Kazakh and English, because I understood it with ease.

What do you know about how the US military is trained to treat the flag. No rush, go ahead and google it. And then ask yourself if other citizens of other countries should give an F about flags and then put yourself in their position, but maybe you are just another civy riding on the coat trails of those who are willing to put themselves in harms way for your country. Cuz it sounds like that might be the case here, in more than one way.

@@cattymajiv Ha ha ha ha President Obama, President Medvedev of Russia, and President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan officially announced the formally secret program of Trilateral Threat Reduction Cooperation and recognized the subsequent work carried out at Semipalatinsk for the first time publicly. The official US estimation is that “a dozen” bombs worth of plutonium was secured at the site between 2005 and 2012, at a total cost of $150 million.

Fun Fact: In the 90's I know there was a secret mission between the former Soviets and the UN to clean up this site. It was SOOO badly contaminated it was one of the most irradiated places on earth, There was fission material scattered randomly about on the ground, Irradiated metals everywhere. At the time it was the TOP site in the world where a potential Dirty Bomb could be created incredibly easily by the fact the site was so hard to guard and the nuclear material so widely scattered. They only announced the Clean-up five years into completing the work, Which involved removing tonnes and tonnes of material, Scraping away much of the topsoil and making sure the place was regularly patrolled.

Taking down that flag was highly disrespectful, even if you had been right about you were thinking at the time. It's a monument, the country of Kazakhstan decided to put it there, and you have no right to do that. What's worse is that you were wrong. Your colleague corrected you and informed you that this is not a disarmament monument, but a cleanup one. The US helped clean up. Perhaps they did a poor job, as the background radiation is still quite high, but regardless, they helped clean up. Why did you not put the flag back up after being corrected, at least? Very poor form, I won't unsubscribe, but I hope to see you do better. You're free to speak your mind, that's fine, and even encouraged. But don't touch monuments.

Yes. Such horror to get caught! Holy Molly! But in reality those police saved them from their disintegrating bicycles. That many miles on a bumpy road will shake any bike to bits, so without the police they would have had to walk for many days, without food or water. A true horror!

I am so with you. America spent money to clean up your nuclear waste problem, that the Soviet Union caused, and you put our flag into the dirt.... I could understand like put it down a bit, to be below Kazakhstan's as a way to try and make their point, but putting it so it was dragging in the dirt.... it's like they don't understand how the world works. Which makes sense given the crazy stuff they do. Makes me think I should unsubscribe and maybe that would be better for them as well, if they didn't get the attention for doing a lot of risky stuff that will shorten their lives.

I've been just horrified, absolutely terrified of ticks all my life. I grew up in Manitoba Canada, which is plagued for part of every year, and I never got over my extreme horror of them. They are the sneakiest, most devious, and most long lasting of all the blood sucking parasites! Days after you are sure you have eliminated the microscopic bastards, you will still find them crawling on you, or embedded and swollen up to the size of a quarter on your dog, even hundreds at once! And we women have even more crevices that they can and do crawl into and embed themselves. If ever there was a reason to cry "Horror!" this is it ! ! ! Luckily I have moved to a place where many people have never even heard of a tick! You can into any feild or bush without fear year round! It's the only good thing about Alberta.

So disrespectful, not like the ussr is helping them clean up there mess.. hah.

He's giving you his honest reaction. I thought is was 100% spot-on. But if you're not from that part of the world, and you grew up thinking that America and the West are the world's good guys and saviors, then I'm sure it's difficult to understand.
