    Hey Mark. Great job with the series.Showing all aspects of the build is a great learning tool for all who watch. As a builder myself and a veteran tank mechanic, I've decided to build a track too. I take my hat off to ya mister for the help you have given. Take care.

    That's the most incredible series I ever seen of DIY vehicle! Congratulations for the results! You are a amazing engineer and mechanic! I'm from Brazil, we love mudding!!! I'd like to made an DIY UTV, I will study more to make a tracked one. Thank you for the material, that's the best I found on internet!

    This has been a very informative video series for me . I would like to say Thank-you for sharing .and would like to share this for everyone I don't know if it would have worked for this project but Thanks to you I hope to do more research and that is to use hydraulic transmissions like those on z riders it's not cheap but with what I've learned from you worth a shot.... peace

    I was thinking about doing something similar but using an old style electric wheel chair with 24v gear drive motors. Wouldn't be as cool but I've got the old electric wheel chair and all electronics for it lol

    Only thing I would do different is source some type of hydraulic drive instead of the belt and chain drive too much of a chance for slippage

    What a great project, your a great designer with a huge amount of potential ! You need to believe in yourself and make the jump to a CNC course, it's much easier than it seems and so much material to help you succeed is available at your fingertips. The cost of home CNC Mills is affordable and getting cheaper everyday, and the job opportunities are endless. Do it, you'll never forgive yourself if you don't try. I've seen guys with none of your skills and who could barely create an ashtray out of the bottom of a soup can become CNC programs and go on to making big money with their own small companies, and I know a guy that creates one off parts for Nascar Racing. Guy with your brain could do anything you want, seriously!

    this thing was badass, it saddens me that you are moving on... i may try building one of these, but i was thinking of a single differential out of a vehicle with a spool style differential where both sides are supplied power at the same time, but they can spin independently of each other, the idea in my head lacks the problematic belt drive, replacing it with a single driveshaft and a seperate braking system for the two tracks for steering, but thats just my ideas....

  • @Aceman307

    @Aceman307

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes I think thats a good idea. I think if you could find an old motorized golf cart you could use the engine and diff. I say a golf cart because it is about the same width as the one I built.

  • @1967davethewave

    A spool wouldn't allow the sides to spin independently as it locks the axles together. You would need an open style differential.

    wow, this project is so amazing, good job! I love to see projects like this finished. I have been trying to design something like this in my head for several years now, and something I absolutely can't decide on is what type of tracks. after having built and driven your vehicle, how do you think your metal plate/cable tracks compare to the more common rubber belt based tracks? is the ride overly rough from the flat plates, and have you noticed any wear in the cable from repeated bending? also, how would you compare your drive system to, say, differential, or a hydraulic drive? Anyway, thanks again for doing this amazing project, can't wait to see what you come up with next!

    There are two better ways to go than the way I did it one would be a motor for each side or a car type differential that you could use brakes to steer on each side.Probably conveyor belts would make better tracks. Thanks for watching
