@@nigeldean1813 In addition, if it wasn't that jump it could have been something worse. He could have broke his neck the next day racing around a track or trying something else. You just don't know with these dangerous (but very fun) sports (bmx, motocross, skateboarding, rally car racing - which is insane, or doing moto-cross stunts/jumps, etc). My rear skateboard trucks snagged on the coping of a 10 ft. high half pipe doing a roll in off the platform (which I had the trick wired) and flew to the bottom of the ramp landing on my right shoulder. I broke my shoulder, destroyed the cartridge, tore tendons and ligaments, bone came out of the socket, etc...) My shoulder has never been the same. I'll have to live with this shoulder pain the rest of my life. I've also had 4 ankle surgeries, and 3 back surgeries. I loved riding motocross, skateboarding, surfing, drag racings cars and motorcycles, and doing crazy stunts. My body is an orthopedic surgeon's gold mine. But that's just how I lived (but not a famous person like Travis - ground breaking motocross rider). I loved Travis' "go for it" attitude towards everything. But you're bound to get hurt living that life style. There's just no way to avoid it if you're trying to push the limits and develop new tricks. Travis is like a Cat with 9 lives if people are familiar with all his crashes (cars, motorcycles, etc) going back to a long time ago.

I was training with Ronnie Mac at the time, but wasn't there when Travis Crashed. Ronnie always said that if Travis would have just listened to him, and not backed off like he did, he would have made it. One thing that I don't think everyone knows, and this would probably include Travis, is that after Travis Crashed and was laying on the ground with a broken leg and dislocated knee, Ronnie was in the garage making out with Michelle "Mrs. Arenacross" Stephenson. So, they didn't call the Paramedics for at least an hour. It's funny now, but I think that Travis understood and never really got mad about it or anything.

@@superfly3990 he doesn't come across as a hardcore dude like the mullisha guys but he sure is, the amount of injuries he's had it shows how mentally strong he is to not get addicted to the opiate meds. Like you said even the ice baths are sore, when I was a teenager I got into a fight this dude smashed my leg with an aluminium baseball bat fractured my knee cap and tore ligaments. When I was in hospital the leg was so swollen couldn't tell where my knee cap was, they used a massive needle which went right in under the knee cap and drew out heaps of liquid before I could get x rayed. Getting my knee drained was sorer than actually getting smashed up with the bat. I've broke other bones but when I heard Travis say he got his knee drained daily it brought back memories he's a gnarly dude.

So funny when you list a couple guys and say old school guys. You know the old school guys in our age is Damon Bradshaw, Rick Johnson, Johnny O'mara, Kyle Lewis. All way before FMX days.

I also tore my acl, mcl and meniscus on 1 wreck. Dang foot came off the peg and my friends honda 700xx back tire ran up my leg and yanked me off the thing. My leg was a spaghetti noodle for a year

Only Travis would be like “yea if I could go back I would just go with it and it would’ve been the best front flip of all time” instead of “yea probably wouldn’t have done it” lol.. Travis is the gnarliest dude of all time in actions sports.

I crashed on my bike and shitwhipped my legs into the ground kneecaps first, by the time I got the the hospital I could barely walk because ofnthe fluid behind my kneecaps, they told me to just sit and wait for it to go away.... it took a month, I wish they drained my knees, even though it probably wasn't as bad as his was
