@allie_ostrander looking at the US trials and the Mu situation a trials plus committee selection makes more sense. Top 2 at trials and the 3rd slot is decided by a selection committee with the default preference being the next highest place with the standard but allows for appeals like Mu

@@allie_ostrander Allie, you are a "Fontaine' of inspiration. We watch athletics not for just a 'winners pile on' , but to observe 'human spirit' . Pre came 4th at Munich, but it didnt matter... we all saw how he turned himself inside out. And when we watch you race, we know you have left nothing in the tank. Your love of 'the craft of running' bursts out like light peeling out. Maintain the rage !

You have every reason to be proud. You trained with purpose. You didn't let yourself down, and you didn't let your fans down. You crushed the Olympic standard. That forever makes you an Olympian in our hearts, whether you go to Paris or not.

I think you could still do it it will be a challenge to do it because even if you run. A fast race time they of course want faster
LA 2028 baby! You're still so young. We are seeing athletes perform at elite Oly levels into their mid 30s... The sky is the limit!

Allie, listen to what this person's saying. You are still so young, AND people are competing older and older. Tom Brady was 45 years old when he retired, and he wasn't a pitiful hanger-oner when he retired. He took such good care of himself that he was still at the top of his game. 2028 is TOTALLY DO-ABLE Allie!

More like worlds 2025. US trials will come next year
For every athlete who "failed" at the trials, there are fifty who "failed" to get into it. Getting there is an achievement in itself. Well done Allie!
That was the fastest US Trials race of all time by a far margin and you got 7th in a big PR. While I understand that you technically “failed” to make the team, under no circumstances can that race, or this past season, be considered a failure. Anyone who thinks that (and especially anyone who takes the time to post it or comment to that effect) doesn’t know what it’s like to do hard things. Great season Allie, I still believe.

No - this series wasn't clickbait. But it was the rebirth of one of America's most amazing runners and a testament to the fact that injuries, illnesses or whatever setbacks there might be on your path, you can still be successful if you pour your heart and soul into it
Whoever left that stupid comment, is obviously not an athlete. There is always hope and there is always value in the journey.

And almost nobody can be sure they're going to qualify for a super-elite event like the Olympics! That's why the trials are exciting! (Except for unusual cases where an athlete is head and shoulders above everyone else in their field, like Simone Biles in gymnastics.) You were solidly in the running and made a great showing.
Top 30 in the world in Cross and top 20 in the world in BOTH track Steeple and the Gold Trail Series world championship final, all in the same ~9 month period. I mean, think about that for a minute. That's pretty badass, honestly. Those of us who have been here every video since the early COVID days of this channel don't feel like you failed. We're just happy to see you health, having fun, and setting PBs along the way. Keep on fighting!

allie we are all still so proud of u❤
You were bloody brilliant out there Allie. You made the final at the US trials and ran a PB. You're a bloody superstar in my eyes and I cannot wait to see what you do next 🤘❤ Love and light from the UK💫
You're legacy goes so far beyond the Olympics. Seriously. What you've achieved, what you represent, and how hard you work all speaks volumes.
I did middle school track but quit because even then I didn't have long & lean body type; since then I never followed track & field until you. What a great role model for little girls
I am hoping this is not the end of your Olympic dream. You gave it your all and showed such unbelievable commitment, grit and determination. You should be SO proud. There is so much more to come for you. Warmest congratulations and love from the UK. X

I disagree, the Olympic goal is an arbitrary one, she could qualify for diamond league or world champions or all kinds of things
you did not fail you really did awesome, PR even after having COIVD that is very impressive and a WIN! next time! there are mote olympics and championships !
You didn't "fail." You trained hard and smart. You ran a race against world class competition, and held your own even if you didn't achieve your ultimate goal. You are NOT a failure. You are amazing and an inspiration to so many. Go, Allie O, go!
When you run a PR in a final you literally did the best you have ever done when it mattered. Lots of talented people fold under pressure or over-train and run their worst times in a final. You didn't fold, quite the reverse. You just got beat by faster runners -this time. So, arch an eyebrow at the result, nod, and say to yourself, "Next time". Very proud of you, young lady.
I watch/follow Allie because I’m a 40 yo who loves to race but will always be a middle-of-the-pack guy when I race against legitimate runners. I live vicariously through all of her successes! Her story about sticking to it and following one’s passion is what makes her so relatable!
7th isn't bad at all. Impressive as hell to even make the trials. It isn't over - you always have 2028
You don't have to justify documenting your Olympic trials, this was super entertaining and a lot of fun to watch. I really enjoyed following the entire journey.
Your improved mental strength is a truly amazing achievement beyond the quality of the athletics result you got to. This will stay with you for life. And, i think that your understanding that process goals are stronger motivators is probably a key to you continued success. Thanks for sharing!
I'm so proud of you Allie! Amazing job! Also, Great job on a new PR!
I'm proud of the effort and I know how hard it must of been to make this video
I can actually say, for the first time in my life, I thought to myself "When does the steeplechase race start?" lol! Then I jumped on KZread and searched for your race start. I felt as much vested in your race as I would had you been my own kid. Keep up the great work Allie, we're all proud of you!!! Long time sub, first time commenter. PS, I can still hear Spence yelling for you in the stands 🙂
.0001% of Runners can do what you can do! It’s stellar performance! And you have it in you to get even better!
As a subscriber and avid runner, I gained a lot of respect for you. I will keep you in mind and prayers. I have a feeling you will be back!
Your work ethic, vulnerability, maturity, and genuine sharing of your experience are so admirable. 🙏🏻
#4 I love the fact that you walked away knowing that you are good enough to be at the Olympics. Considering what you have been through, 7th at the trials and meeting the standard, you are LEGIT. Looking forward to seeing what is next.
Allie, please watch the KZread interview entitled "Allie Ostrander makes steeple final, speaks out on eating disorder awareness". That girl was relaxed and confident and knew she should be proud of what was going down. No excuses or explanations need to be made. By the by in that interview you talked about wrong-headed thoughts and how they can hurt people with ED. Same is true of anxiety which I have. Next time I have a problem I'm going to listen again to that part of your interview. Very helpful.
Do you realize how mental happy you are, congrats. Stay consistent in all aspects, we are all behind you.
You have done so much and are doing so much for girls in athletics - you even made the SC an exciting event. I watched your heat and final and had to stay up all night for them and you raced so good. You did yourself proud, you did your family and coach proud. Love the thumbnail for this video too - great face. I get you - shame, but you would hate the rain and gray skies (UK Women's 3,000m steeplechase results Top 3: Elizabeth Bird 9:29.67 CR 🥇 Elise Thorner 9:33.53 🥈 Stevie Lawrence 9:45.46 PB🥉)
I could not be more proud of you. I watched both races and you truly gave it your all, so I wouldn't consider that a failure at all. Seeing how far you've come in your recovery and how empowering that process has been for you brings me to tears as a runner who is also in recovery. I can't wait to see what's next for you.
You are such a hero to many, Allie. You will never realize how much you are respected and admired for your courage and hard work.
so happy to hear you will train again and try again. sending you much support. can't wait to see what you will do in the mean time. good job allie.
Thanks for sharing your amazing journey. You are a winner in life and have a wonderful future. Keeping pushing and keep smiling.
I'm just a recreational runner, and I had the pleasure of seeing you run for the first time at the Carlsbad 5000 couple years ago. You stood out from the rest. You looked like you were having such a great time and that made me smile. But I can hardly imagine just how hard it must be mentally and physically to run distance competitively. I can only dream of having even half the running talent that you have. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us all to just enjoying running and life! Wishing you all the best and will be rooting for you in the next round of Olympic trials!
You made it to the finals. Huge win just there. Looking forward to your next chapter. Lots o people cheering for you!
Love hearing that you're looking forward to 2028 and beyond, can't wait to see the process, and see you crack that top 3 at the next trials.
I loved this video! Thank you for your insight! Hoping I can switch my mindset when it comes to racing and working through mental and physical tough situations!
You pursued your dream and tried your best. That already puts you ahead of 80% of humans whose dreams die in the planning stage and they never get around to writing that book, making that movie, participating in that race, etc etc. Your efforts, your introspection, your analysis, your honesty, and your self-awareness makes you a role model and an inspiration for the rest of us who need to find the courage and intelligently follow our dreams. Thank you!
I'm sold: Subscribed! Congrats on finding your joy again!☺You go girl!!!!!!!🥳

You should be so proud of yourself! And thank you for sharing, I think it's really important for young athletes to see how to remain strong, resilient and proud even if they don't get that goal quite this time.

This is a great ending to an awesome series. Thanks for letting us into your life and this effort. Can I steal “it’s just my consistency” for athletes I coach? That is one of the best mindsets I have ever heard.
