I wanted to share some personnal views on what's happening right now with diesel cars, fuel prices, etc and I'm curious what your take on it is. I've recently bought a 2018 plate C-HR as my introduction into hybrids and am really enjoying it, with the back seats down i can quite happily slip my bike in the back, so that's great. Totally agree that hybrids are the way to go as the infrastructure just isn't there and to be honest I can't see it coming in the next 10 years. For full electric to work across the board both batteries and chargers are going to have to improve a lot, with batteries giving more range & chargers charging quicker, I mean with my hybrid I can fill it with fuel in about 10 minutes and that will give me 500+ miles range

Fine review. I have been Hybrids since 2007 and enjoy them. If you are crazed (like me) it is a bit like playing a slot machine and looking for all sorts of ways to get a better score.

I just happened to made couple of days ago what you suggested. I bought a new C-HR Hybrid and will gave my 2012 Tiguan TDI as a trade in. I have the exact same idea, wait 4-5 years more to go full electric. The technology is not completely there yet, charging infrastructure is still in early stages, new better chemistry is coming soon to BEVs (Solid state batteries) and prices are still for early adopters.

OK my first comment was removed, but I wanted to say this model has nothing new, mine from january 2017 is the same finish level with same scrolling LED turning lights, I think you just reviewed the full option model here... Anyway it's a great car for everyday life and it's more practical and versatile than you would think on first sight, it's very nimble and easy to drive, easy to park. About diesel, I think this is just the best way to replace an old diesel, it doesn't drink that much (we are at 5.2 l average consumption on 22000 km), and the HSD system from Toyota is perfect for getting used to electric mobility, it's learn you to drive more efficiently and to loose your habits of classical, oldschool gearbox from thermic engines. Nearly no particles nor NOx emitted (this is no direct injection engine), gas is now cheaper than diesel and you don't have to worry about reload or autonomy. And it's very reliable (no turbo, no EGR, no gearbox, no particle filter ...).

Hey Eric! I don't know what happened with your first comment being removed but I'm glad you took the time to write a second one. I test drive the 2016 and 2017 C-HR and I agree with you, but I was told by the guy at Toyota who handed me the keys that thi C-HR was an "upgraded version" and not only options wise. As you might have noticed, I was struggling to find any noticeable changes anyway hahaha. As for the diesel part, I completely agree with you. Toyota's hyrbid cars are bulletproof, practicle and they give you a difference perspective on driving.

@@okayrocky2577 I really like the hybrid. It is very fuel efficient, smooth and it's super reliable. And sorry I can't help much when it comes to the american car market :(

I dont know what new technology youre refering to, it cant be that sluggish, soon to be10 year old "infotainment" touchscreen with no android auto or carplay

we re talking about toyota... this best car maker in die world. its has a very good infotainment system. with youtube and so on... why do you need android?

its just insane. in the info it says 3.4 city, 4.0 outside... but in realitiy its nearly 2 times as much... thats dumb. normal cars say 7.0 but then it IS really 7.0 and not 13l xD like with toyota. says 3.4 but reality is 6.0

Honestly, I've never come across any car whose announced fuel consumption came close to the real thing. They used to put out these numbers after doing a series of tests which rarely recreate real-life conditions. Fuel consumption also depends on the driver. Personnally I'm not the most economical driver but I was very satisfied with this car's mpg (I tend to mention this thing in the video so the viewers understand the consumption will vary from driver to driver). I don't want to talk trash on any brand because I actually like most of them so I'm going to say this in an indirect way : "Toyota/Lexus are the ones whose announced average fuel consumption matches reality the closest from what I could gather along all past tests".

@@TheEuroCarShow Et bien, je pense que c'est encore un peu tôt pour le dire. À l'heure d’aujourd’hui, il y a des choses qu'on sait et d'autres qu'on ne sait pas. Il y a ce qu'on nous dit et ce qu'on ne nous dit pas. Ce qui est sûr, c'est que la chasse aux sorcières est lancée lol. À tort ou à raison, les moyens de transport sont devenus des cibles de choix dans les enjeux écologiques auxquels on doit faire face. Est-ce que toute la solution au problème réside à elle seule dans le transport.....À chacun son avis là-dessus. En tout cas, la chose à espérer est que la transition se fera de manière réfléchie et le moins injustement possible. De mon point de vue, les revendications publiques sont claires, il faut changer nos modes de vies(déplacements) tant que possible et tout faire pour consommer moins et diminuer notre emprunte écologique. Paradoxalement, l'économie et certaines lois renvoient un message "subliminal" qui me semble tout autre. En gros, si vous avez les moyens de polluer plus qu'un autre, faites-le. Ainsi, vous dépenserez plus qu'un autre pour un véhicule, donc pour un marché, en taxe, et vous ferez tourner l'économie. Ce n'est pas tant les personnes qui mettent , 30.000,50.000 ou plus dans une voiture que les mesures actuelles et les suivantes vont embêter, mais ceux qui sont plus dans les moins de 10.000 voir 15.000 (à la grosse louche). On n'est pas vraiment tous logés à la même enseigne à ce niveau-là. De plus, pour ce qui est des nouvelles énergies, carburants, et autres moyens de faire fonctionner les véhicules de "l'avenir", on peut dire ou spéculer ce qu'on veut, mais les infrastructures sont pour ainsi dire quasiment inexistantes à ce jour. Et le développement de tout ces nouveaux réseaux ne sera(dans une économie déjà sur endettée) pas gratuit. Et je précise que certains réseaux actueles(trains,bus,etc...) ne sont pas toujours fiables ou répartis équitablement pour permettre au plus grand nombre ou aux plus réfractaires d'en bénéficier d'une manière sûre et régulière. Au final, quoi 'uil y ait après, la question est pour qui, à quel prix, et en quelle quantité. Comme je l'ai dit pour le titre, c'est un changement qui peut faire peur, mais tout va beaucoup dépendre de comment on le prépare, de comment on prépare les gens aussi... Si on fait les choses, correctement, honnêtement et dans l'ordre, je pense que ça passera mieux pour les gens et qu'ils auront moins d'inquiétudes. Inquiétude et incertitude qui ne sont jamais bonnes non plus économiquement. Moi qui aime les voitures, qui roule beaucoup (pour le travail et pour le plaisir) je suis aussi au Coeur du "problème" maintenant. Mon mode de vie fait que je préfère un moyen de déplacement personnel et toujours à disposition plutôt qu'un transport en commun, pour diverses raisons (temps, disponibilité, propreté, comportement des autres utilisateurs, flexibilité, imprévus,etc...). Qui vivra verra. :p

J-r-G Un avis réfléchi qui soulève pas mal de questions. J'aime beaucoup ta réponse car elle résume parfaitement mon avis personnel sur la question. Je voudrais commencer à traiter de tels sujets dans de futures vidéos (plus longues et plus détaillées) et je voulais un peu tester ça dans cette vidéo en allant un peu plus loin que le simple essai auto. Le monde automobile ne se limite pas aux voitures, il est extrêmement influencé par l'évolution de la technologie, la politique, l'art, l'histoire et même la mode. Du coup, j'aimerais créer quelques "vidéos débats" (en bilingue cette fois-ci hahaha) pour lancer la discussion sur ces divers sujets et utiliser la section "commentaires" comme un endroit de discussion sur le passé, le présent et l'avenir de l'automobile, notre grande passion 😁 Je te remercie d'avoir pris le temps de partager ton avis avec moi! Je trouve ça très important d'avoir vos opinions, autant sur mes vidéos que sur les sujets traités.
