While I was working in Germany, my British colleagues kept complaining the local burgers and sausages tasted weird, and I had to point out to them that it was because of the much higher meat content. They were used to what Hacker describes here; rusk and fat.

@@banananotebook3331 Several of them spent the entire summer shopping at the NAAFI for 'proper British food' as they called it. Oddly though, they were all perfectly content drinking German beer.

First off I like all sausages. I like English sausages also. The addition of dusk or bread makes them more like meatballs in consistency and taste though which is unique.

I love black pudding and pork pie but British bangers was one thing I could not learn to like; they're just nasty. And yes, it's due to the lack of meat content. Growing up in the NW of England as I did though we were spoiled; Cumberland sausage was more our thing up there, and even the most finicky Eurocrat would not only have no problem with that but tend to celebrate it -- that's more in their protected classes of good food like protected designation of origin.
2:30 'Be extremely unpopular with the voters, " how prophetic.
Bernard: "...and you swallowed it?" Had me rolling😂🤣😂
It's official - people can stomach seeing how politics really works, but not how sausage is made.

It proves the truth of the old saying that if you love sausages and respect the law, you should never watch either being made.
Yes finally! Thank you!! I've been waiting for months for you guys to start uploading clips from Yes Minister/Prime minister again. Hopefully we'll get a few more videos from these shows!!

Why is this uploaded in the wrong aspect ratio, i.e. 16:9 with black bars either side? On a real 4:3 display, like an iPad, this forces the video to have thick black bars at the top, bottom, and sides, constraining the actual content to a small window in the middle. 4:3 content should be uploaded in 4:3.
Does anyone really buy the old cheap pink olden -times sausages anymore? They still sell ‘em
*England:* "It's a sausage, innit?" *Europe:* "England sus, kick from EU."
Good golly ms molly there is a crt high pitch sound in this recording.
I've always wondered. I had sausages in Britain in the 90s, and they seemed the same as the breakfast sausage one might get in Canada or the US at the time, or even today. Tasty. If mild. Did they improve after the 80s or did I have, and occasionally still have, the thing this is talking about? I don't really want peppery or junipered or other spiced continental meats like salami at breakfast. Good way to get gas all morning.
haha, I always thought he says "high-fat awful tube".

This morning I had the first Irish sausage I was aware of - and now I know the Irish must have managed to reconcile being EU members with having flour and other stuff that doesn't belong in their sausages. I don't think they'd be allowed to sell those as sausages to other member countries, though...
British "sausage" is really awfully fatty & full of gristle - whenever I was in the UK, it was by far the worst part of the continental breakfast.

It's true: British sausages hardly contain any meat. They're still delicious.

Horsemeat is delicious and nutritious. Like so many other meats. Sausages from the postwar shortages lasted far too long in the British diet. Compared to most other sausages from around the word, they were absolutely disgusting... and one should never read the ingredients and their percentages as the PM foolishly did.
