Rebels destroyed that bank world maybe. I can't remember the name clovises world. While not bankruptcy it would lead to massive inflation for a few years and if you consider that common goods are already way to expensive due the military complex it would stole rebellions like the french revolution. Which would cost money to put down which would cause inflation etc. Its an economic snowball effect That could possibly cause a bankruptcy.

Alien rise up during the empire Lore Guy This doesn't fit to the topic and Echo fans will hate me but: I still think ECHO WILL BETRAY THE EMPIRE. I believe that the separatists found the inhibitor chip inside his brain after such a long time tinkering on Echo. Maybe they even told him to break his will and get him on their side. After being rescued, somebody had to tell him what happened with Fives, probably Rex. He wouldn't believe that fives went insane, maybe even suspecting that Fives was right about palpatine, but he isn't sure yet. The final nail in the coffin would be order 66 and the restructuring of the republic to the empire. He wouldn't accept that, seeing that the freedom he and his friends fought and died for was just a lie to control and enslave the Galaxy. Thats the moment he decides to fight the empire's injustice, but from within, infiltrating, convincing the bad batch and others to help in secret, maybe he helped starting the rebellion. Okay not really evil but still.. I can't imagine him being a loyal stormtrooper

The Empire was going broke. Many of the things you talk about were happening during A New Hope. In the deleted scene with Biggs he tells Luke that the Empire has already nationalized commerce in the central systems. He asks Luke how long until his uncle is tenant on his own farm. Working for the glory of the Empire.

Il ike this rethink like a lot! The Empire faced a financial crisis while also fighting off the Rebels Alliance at the same time?! Now, that is something awesome I would love to see for real in the series! Because it will be only a matter of time before the Empire will fall and destroy itself inside out. The rebels, they don't have to do much anymore. All they have to do are doing are launching a series of raiding expeditions and taking those loots to fund themselves. And eventually, the Empire will be completely destroyed from inside out like I said in the end. Star Wars Rethink: What if Bail Organa survived and become the Chancellor of the New Republic?

Great video. l always enjoy them.. I suppose after the Empires defeat at Endor, the imperials grip on the galaxy was severely effected. So this would have harmed their financial status. Obviuosly Warlords like Ardus Kaine, Zsinj and Delvardus etc held onto vast regions of the galaxy to maintain some kind of functioning imperial faction which could operate on a smaller scale and maintain order. However, the fractured imperial remnants ultimately struggled after Palpatine's first death to recover a united Empire which would take back power from the New Republic. Even Thrawn failed and corporations like the Kurt Drive Yards opted to work for the New Republic. So the first Galactic Empire never returned to the abundance of funds seen at their height of imperial power.

Here is an idea for a rethink The Death Star explodes over Jeda when they fire up the super laser, Galen Urso's flaw was a little bigger than he let on

What if there was a second Mandorlorian war after the Yuuzhan Vong war? Like say that during the Yuuzhan Vong war the Mandorlorian people had fully welcomed the old ways back and had become alot stronger after the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated having about the same level of influential strength as the Mandorlorians of 3976BBY did. What would happen?

i think they would win because the galaxy would be in a societal collapse somewhat cause worlds infected bye the vong would have to be reversed and the more than 300 million deaths would be devestating...and the alliance didnt really controll the galaxy for that long when the imperials left along with a few smaller system than boiling down into the second galactic civil war...and the mandalorians because of there elite warrior stance would likely be bodyguards for high ranking officials...and with the likely already mandalorian high ranking officials and there guards with them on board they could just kill the alliance officials causing a bit of a military high command collapse as mandalorian ships open fire on galactic alliance ships and mandalorians on board take over or just explode ships from the inside...and than the mandalorians will likely move on coruscant and win...and all of this is very likely surely if the mandalorians prepared for it a few years before the vong where defeated

Honestly, I think the Empire may have been on the way to bankruptcy anyways, the way they managed and spent, the losses like the Death Star, which would have shattered people that invested in them, I still believe if the Empire, or even the Republic automated more, not necessarily using droid labor or high tech machines, probably low means of automation like ramps and slides to send items to one side of a building or the other, anti-gravity mobilization, just small things like that and then using machines and droids for the heavier operations, or organized the tax laws, so say you have 300 employees, now only need ten, you and your remaining employees may keep 'X' amount of income, lets say '20%' for reinvesting in the business, the rest is direct deposited into the tax base, and to make your lives better and those out of work, taxes will be hugely decreases as either government is now getting more in tax revenue then previous, this may have been a better option and many problems diverted that plagued both governments. Those out of work, the huge increase in taxes could go to advanced education, and in the case of the Republic 'before' the Clone wars, the Judiciary forces so to improve them and rely less on the Jedi, lowering crime, while in the Empires case, of course, the military and have an increased and far better supplied one for the average personnel, however, this being the Empire, will go to the Moff's, piss off the average personnel who have the better training that would prove vital for the Rebellion, so yeah, I don't see a world where the Galactic Empire lives long.

It doesn’t matter if you can use the force or not if you can’t pay your minions they won’t work for you force chock or not.

In his seminal book, *Rise and Fall of the Great Powers*, author Paul Kennedy proved that what causes the collapse of superpowers is financial ruin. Through historical examples, Kennedy shows that the greatest empires in history wasted their treasuries on short-term military or political gains and never re-invested in their economies. In the Spanish Empire, for example, their empire spread too far for practical resupply, while the predation of pirates disrupted the flow of gold back to the capital. Military expeditions such as the two failed invasions of England cost a lot and brought no new revenues. By 1600, soldiers and even the famous conquistadores were being paid in promissory notes (Latin, juros). Using the same metrics, it's easy to see that Death Stars 1 & 2 would have cost trillions of credits, and their destruction would have placed a huge debt on the Imperial economy. Similarly, wonder weapons like the Galaxy Gun, Eclipse starships, and the Executor-class Super Star Destroyers would have wiped out the the Imperial Treasury and placed huge liens on the bank. Simultaneously, as more resources went to the military, poverty rates on Core world (including Coruscant) would skyrocket. This would cause huge civil unrest, and entire legions of Stormtroopers would have to be called in to suppress them. By the time of ROJ, I estimate that the Empire would be on the brink of collapse, if not sooner!

If the Empire went bankrupt it would simply expose the cracks in its strategy. The Empire really didn't think strategically or sustainably. If it did, it wouldn't have funneled so many resources into weapons and war. War is ultimately a resource sink: resources invested in war tend to get destroyed or damaged. A better approach would have been to invest in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. This would make the citizens far more productive and thus wealthier, allowing the Empire to reduce taxes while still keeping their budget positive, or at worst even. This would also reduce the appeal of the Rebellion; why destroy the Empire if it's not really hurting anyone?

Not to mention mass drop outs of troops after all they had so many trooos because well it was the best paying jobs out there but if there not getting anything out of it then whole army's will simply leave

I guess it all really depends on what made them go bankrupt as you said. In some cases, their Minister of Propaganda could put enough of a twist on things to keep the people at bay. Then there is the idea of simply commissioning clones to fill in that new labor gap. Sure, you'll most likely go further into debt but you can program those clones to accept working for little to no pay.

Clones are expensive however. Cloners don't make clones for free. And if clones are taking everyone's jobs, you're adding more fuel to the fire.

Star Wars Rethink: If the Jedi Order was already destroyed before the Clone Wars. How would the Clone Wars and Palpatine's plans go differently with the Jedi out of the picture during his rise to power? On that note, what would Palpatine do for his future apprentice, and what would he do without being able to use the Jedi as a scapegoat/early boogeyman in the early years of the Empire?

In other words, if the Empire went bankrupt... the Rebels would be overflowing with new recruits. The Empire would probably be defeated a few years sooner and one of the Imperials biggest trump cards (their wealth) would be null and void. Bounty hunters, assassins and mercenaries alike would probably avoid the Empire like the plague and their status quo would probably crumble.

Also, many imperial officers from low to high command come from very wealthy families that would be greatly affected by an imperial take over of assets like this. If such a economic crisis happened, many of them would simply leave the empire. This would include mass resignations, desertions, and defections.

Couldn't the empire just, pull a starfleet federation and go about abolitioning credits moving towards fundless state. Maybe try and go for utopia where everything is made for the Greater Good of the empire and people just take what they need with, I don't maybe ration type system. Governments don't go bankrupt. Authoritarian Governments are even less susceptible to economic pressures than freer governments aren't. The empire can literally just make more credits and enforce the value of those credits through military force. The empire would just nationalize key industries and the opinions of the companies literally don't matter.

The real title is "What If the Empire became the USSR?", and the answer is on the history books. Command Economies DO NOT WORK, is that simple.
