I'm 62 years old, and I was born with strabismus. Recently I've been diagnosed with cataracts, so of course I have been thinking a lot about not be able to see...period. I've been in therapy for a number of years to work on anxiety, depression etc... I was talking with my psychologist about how much I must have missed as a kids simply because I don't peripheral vision on my right side. She informs me that her work on brain plasticity could help, and further that vision therapy is working with adults... first for me. So I am getting cataract surgery , continuing the psychologist therapy process in brain plasticity and hopefully (I have a gofundme) vision therapy. I hope to have stereo vision at sometime in my life. Emotional experience... everything...watching from the sidelines... you don't know how many times a friend has said something like, "wow she really liked you..." and I'm like, "Who". Didn't even see her...right side. Last picked for baseball teams...can't hit a ball to save my life. All my friends know to not toss me stuff. Slow to learn, teased , humiliation...you name it. Sense of humor kept me alive, self depreciation for the win. Well, I am going to fix it. Thanks for your support through this channel.

You are right! It definitely isn't simple and definitely can't be squeezed into a 10 minute video. But if something I say can help someone move in a more positive direction, I'm here for it!

This is such an EYE OPENING video, one of my daughters has this and she just had her 3rd surgery, and she is on her 3rd day of recovery. I will share this with her, I know she will relate to all of this and it will help her understand her feelings are so similar to alot of the topics you mentioned. Thank you for sharing, it also helped me to understand how strabismis can affect a person in so many ways. WOW!

True, I experienced it as in when I tried so hard to make my both eyes to work together because of double vision, I felt so tired and mad too. Lol 😂 But I also notice if I am sick, sad, angry, worry not because of strabismus that impact my mood but work/family issues, it will affect my strabismus like even worst but if I laugh and feel happy, I feel my vision is good and able to control well, no double vision too. I told myself to be happy most of the time, but my vision therapist told me I can’t be avoiding myself from being sad, angry, or worry and I still have to learn to control my vision no matter what. Somehow is true😅 So now I’m learning to control my vision even when I am not in a good mood. I am not sure if you or anyone reading this comment experienced the same thing as I am? Hope to know 🥹🥺

YES! I relate to this so much! My big trigger for poor vision is stress and lack of sleep. Life coaching changed my life because I learned how to allow all the good and bad and not let it take over my life! Are you a part of our community yet? It's not too painful, especially when compared to other types of surgery like a knee or shoulder surgery. It's more difficult emotionally than physically, in my opinion.
