The Elegant Holkham Hall Built For The Earl Of Leicester | Real Royalty

@@donsarde Some have *work a ways* a new avenue to have people 'volunteer' and have lodging and food for them, but without pay *If that can be arranged by owners without it causing much confusion. So they work to live and eat there and sometimes it could turn into a paid position. Not so many know about it. But have seen it done on other vlogs. Not sure what the people do for any extra needs, but things can be worked out so it seems. . Some people you need to pay, of course, and be in moe supervised positions. The owners often need to jump n and help some too and take on jobs. Still, many others are getting Patrons and that brings in much money for some. They seem to do very well with it. Others do not. You must somehow have interesting vlogs and it is time-consuming they say. The editing etc. It is not easy at all, so it sounds.

Just superb and really fabulous that Holkham Hall has survived the centuries intact. Well done to the family. It's sounds like there were no reprobates in the form of heavy drinkers or gamblers in their family. I loved the fact that the focus was on good farming practices and property maintenance. This programme was a real visual and intellectual feast. Thank you from Australia.

Oh yes and English upper class means most likely bi as well. Good for me! A self thinker who rejected the worthless advice from so called experts who never achieved anything of substance. This family is to be admired as the mavericks they are. I should go hunting there just to rub elbows with such great thinkers, actors and men who have a vision of their own and stick to it.

It was too big, and had one button so she used a few large safety pins, one filched off a diaper with a duck head on it. I started, seeing it and she said What ? The pins. Who cares, nobody notices that kind of thing anyway....it's cold !!

It always amazes me that gems of English country houses are still so numerous today, many hundreds of years have passed since they were built, no doubt many are gone, but those that remain are as they were when first built, some, like Holkam, have been restored so sensitively that anyone from the period they were built wouldn’t even realise they were now in the 21st century. British architecture is so marvellous and finished to the highest standards that even modern techniques and technology can’t match, the craftsmanship is undoubtedly some of the finest in the world, and arguably the finest in the world, the best of British. British builders of the period, and still today, might not “throw” up buildings as quickly as other countries, but the end results speak for themselves, and even when British builders are the butt of the joke when it comes to the slowness of our construction industry they could honestly argue that structures like Holkam have been around for centuries and will be still around for centuries more given the tender loving care they deserve and demand from their custodians, people don’t really own these places, they are on loan from our history and custodians will come and go, but they will survive. Thanks so very much for sharing this incredibly interesting and informative documentary, massive thumbs up 👍😀🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 P.S Subscribed.

If we think a little further about it these great houses of course they were built with the funds of wealthy men and also by men with amazing skills. And the men with amazing skills were not wealthy and would never dream of being entertained within the skillfully built walls. Always we hear about the wealth but not so much about the craftmens that actually brought them to life. It was telling that there was a beer party to begin the build and a couple of shillings and more beer at the end of the party. I think the builders of today are faring much better!

The Whole house is an AMAZING piece of art. I just beg His Lordship to PLEASE refrain from adding pieces of art to the collection. Any 3rd grader would paint on a HIGHER level than the artist who did that sloopy work. Looks like it came out out of a class that was teaching arts and crafts .

So why do famous people have to pay millions in court but yet houses and building that's 100s and 100s of years old isn't worth millions and billions because it only cost 1000s to build but yet its cost millions and billions to hear the truth in court the court of law

Now u listen to me how much is theses houses to buy if they was to be sold u have to started with how much it cost to build them all them year's ago and I take it into consideration to how much it cost to build brand new one of them to day and the truth is there is manchins being built all over this world thats worth more than most of thses House so its not real richest after all with this houses everyone whats big house but not everyone knows why they what big house to what it is to what it but it still doesn't give the answer to why u really want or need big house so for there every one whats big house but not everyone knows why they what it they say that this house would be worth millions today to sell them but it cost 1000s to build itself 100s100s of years ago and in to days money its worth millions and if people million house for 1 million dollars it would be worth what 100years from now but I thought u lose money when you sell the house because the falu of the house drops but now uses are saying something different Which one is it the price goes up or it drops and it can only be one of them so if put 1000 euro in the bank and never put another cent in the bank for 100 years and when back 1000 years old would that 1000 turn into million because thats what uses are saying if This houses cost 1000s to build then how would it be worth millions 100years later when u take it into consideration its be lived in million times over by millions of people so it's not new any more its car its worth money when you first buy it new it drops in price over the years so why is house any different

The “sumptuousness of the 18th century” came from the stolen resources found in those colonies of empire. I suppose the working and poor classes of Britain recognized this long ago, and of course many of them left the island for those colonies. Wonder if Thomas Cooke knew that. Probably yes, with family crest of an ostrich, from Africa. And the 7th earl sadly recognizes the beauty and value.
