Thank you for covering the game! Always nice to hear honest, but kind, words. I know the early prototype demands a bit too much from the player's imagination, and most gamers have trouble seeing through early alpha jank, understandably so. And yeah, most of it was put together in a week, after I noticed the campaign wasn't going to work without something playable. The Kickstarter is unlikely to succeed, at this point. But it was definitely not a waste of time. A lot of people got to know the project, provided great criticism, shared it with others. The biggest lesson I learned from this is that crowdfunding isn't ideal for... funding. I know, it's not intuitive to me either. If the game were 90% done it would probably succeed, but I wouldn't need funding then. And I noticed many successful projects use crowdfunding as a marketing device and pre-sales platform. Which is perfectly fine, of course. But I was hoping it could fund the development of the game. If anyone out there wants to help, let me know of publishers that could be interested in the project.

Why would anyone be interested in a 16-bit game that looks like an 8-bit game? The Sega 16-bit console can show sixty-four colours on screen at the same time and it doesn't matter if it's just shades of grey, show me those sixty-four colours on screen at the same time. The hardware is thirty-six years old so you should be able to figure it out.

The Prince of Persia/Flashback style is not my preferred type of 2D adventure/platformer, but even so I can appreciate and get into any such game with the right atmosphere, ideas, and visual/audio attributes. That being said this one has quite a few wrinkles to iron out and clearly has a ways to go before being in a state to properly evaluate it.

On the Kickstarter he says he's aiming for a full release in 2 years, so this is definitely an early prototype. Lots of time to fix problems, but it's unfortunate that we can't see something a bit more polished for a kickstarter demo.

I backed the kickstarter. Really loving the style of this game. Not only is it reminiscent of those classic games like Flashback/Another World, but the dark tone of the narrative and visuals really grips me. Regarding the jumping issues at 15:09, I think there was just a low ceiling in that area that wasn't visible. Or it could've been a bug. It clearly needs a lot of polish, but the developer is aiming for the full release 2 years from now, so there's plenty of time to fix up those sorts of problems.

Yeah... Pretty sad, maybe they should first create a solid public demo, so people could taste it first and then decide it needs support or not, for now everything here is seems work in progress, even combat sounds not exist in game UPD, there is Demo, maybe im blind, or kickstarter page is not really user friendly, the link to game is on "Updates" page, it took me a while to notice it... Anyway, maybe its not bad that its not fully founded, they will open several compaigns and completed project partially

As someone who's worked with indie devs before, here's my advice to them: just because you can show something, doesn't mean you should. However far along in development this game is, the devs saw fit to make this public, and I think that's been a catastrophic decision. Even if this game still has plenty of development time left, a public-facing demo such as this should endear the public to the project, and on the basis of this, it's too early to do that. That creates a negative first impression. The other possibility is that a game is plenty far into production, which is even more worrying because if this game was due for release soon, it would likely come out to a dreadful reception. From the Kickstarter, it seems the game has 2 years to go. That's plenty of time - but I fear the dev may have shot themselves in the foot by reaching for Kickstarter funding so soon. Sometimes, a game should be kept a little more under wraps, because first impressions count - and when a game is in this wonky a state, it can sadly create a pretty bad one. Nonetheless, I know how touch indie development can be, and I hope the dev can find a second wind and try again when the game is ready for prime time.

From what I understand this wasn't supposed to be public originally. The kickstarter launched without the playable prototype, and it seems like they faced a lot of pushback for not having something playable. Back in the earlier days of KS, a game like this could've easily funded without a demo. These days though enough people have been burned by games that never came out or failed to deliver, so most people will only back a project with a demo. So it seems like the developer maybe polished up their prototype gameplay a bit and packaged it as a demo in a hurry. I totally agree it's a bit too rough for a good first impression, especially for people who don't understand the game development process and where it is in production. Even with that understanding, there's no telling if a rough prototype will turn into a great game. Maybe they launched their KS too soon, but I think the game has a lot of potential so I backed it. Hopefully they meet their funding goal, or come back to KS once the game is further along with a more polished demo.

@BrazenScull I agree with this comment 100%. The demo actually looks really appealing. And I agree with the video poster that a really dope ambient soundtrack would go a long way with a game like this. But it does seem super duper early to be going to the well for Kickstarter funding. I've seen too many games in this early of a state, promise a lot and fall short or never see the light of day. Despite this demo showing a really great amount of promise for what could be. And I don't think I've ever seen a kickstarter that actually meets its timeline goals. Everything gets delayed; shit happens, and I never really resent developers for taking the extra time they need to put out something they're proud of. So if the developer here is saying this is two years out... I mean, we could be looking at three or four years here. Last time I saw a game collect funding that early... let's just say it was developed by a con-artist named Fonzie and the less we say about that game's controversy-laden development the better. On the fence about this one, even though I really want to support it.

Having played Another World and Flashback not too long ago, I'm quite fond of these type of games now and this looks rather promising so far. My biggest gripe is definitely the writing, which seems to try way too hard to be funny and "quirky", when it absolutely doesn't need to be in a game with an atmosphere like this. Battles and whatnot definitely need work too but it's an early prototype so that is to be expected. Hope they'll rewrite some of the dialogue again too, hah.

I think the graphics are good, the outdoor surfaces look realistic but with a painted style, it has scrolling backgrounds, and the footage at the end shows off the lighting effect which lights up background/floor surface in the dark is very atmospheric which suggests this probably will be implemented in the building in the demo later, the caves were nice and would be better with sound and a bit more shading or texture to indicate hard ceilings or walls. For me BlackThorne on the SNES is the best in this class of game for the 16bit era, honestly think this style of game is yet to be perfected on the MegaDrive.

I'd guess the slide is actually just part of the movement mechanics, it just lacks the appropriate effects like a sound and dust being kicked up to make it clear.
