Motivation is doing something when you feel like it. Self-discipline means doing something even when you don't feel like it. Discipline is the foundation for achieving the life you want, but it doesn't have to be heavy or serious. That's why I made this video. How can you become more disciplined without sucking the fun out of your life? Here are my five tips that work.

Hi Clark -- random message here, but we used to go the the same college. People used to always confuse me with you while I was there...I guess we looked vaguely alike. I randomly stumbled across your videos recently, and I had to comment! Glad you're doing well. Cheers from 6th Hill.

The problem for me is finding the other work I would love to do... After COVID-19, everything changed and now it feels hard, I really don't want to work or even get up from bed, but I know that I need to do it because my family counts on me and I'm not young anymore, I just feel lost and most of the time I'm just mad or jealous of how happy other people are. I really like your video took me a lot to finish watching because I was distracting myself so much but I think I did my first step toward discipline. Thanks!

Please get help. There might be situations where you just need more discipline but what you are describing are signs of depression and No amount of self- discipline or reframing the issue will help you Here. If you don't adress this, these symptoms will only get worse. There might also be some hidden root causes or untreated trauma in your case. I might also be wrong but your Message Rings my mental health Alarm bell.

I changed post covid too my friend.. I feel the same as you do. And the frustrating thing is, seeing everyone else just getting on with it, saying how its already 4 years ago.. I guess not everyone went through the same journey in 2020.

Yes and also, instead of saying "Sorry I want to eat healthy", say "Sorry I eat healthy". "I'm trying to stop smoking" becomes "I stopped smoking". By saying it as a state of yourself, you become it

Discipline is not about forcing yourself, but about self-love and commitment. Break down big goals, earn rewards, and understand the root of resistance to build lasting discipline. Key moments: 00:00 Self-discipline is the key to achieving goals consistently. It's the ability to push through even when motivation is lacking, leading to more significant results and consistency. -Breaking down big goals into smaller ones reduces the need for excessive discipline. Chunking goals helps in achieving them with less effort and more consistency. -Reframing discipline as showing up for oneself changes the negative connotation. It's about building trust with oneself by honoring commitments and showing consistency. 03:50 Discipline can be viewed as a choice rather than a force, aligning with self-love. Dopamine regulation is affected by rewards without effort, impacting motivation and performance. -Changing the perspective on discipline to a choice linked to self-care and self-prioritization. -The impact of dopamine regulation on motivation and the importance of effort in achieving rewards. -The effectiveness of setting implementation intentions in increasing exercise consistency and motivation. 07:48 Having a specific date and time for tasks can boost self-discipline. It's important to question resistance and align actions with passion to avoid forcing oneself into tasks. -Importance of setting specific dates and times for tasks to enhance self-discipline and commitment. -Questioning resistance and aligning actions with passion to avoid forcing oneself into tasks that lack personal alignment.

Easy to say and do when you're Superman , Clark, Kent. 💪 To be totally fair, this may be one of the most impactful videos I've watched in 2024. It's exactly what I needed. I have ADHD so it's difficult for me to actually sit down and read atomic habits. So the way you just distilled this information is a game changer. Thank you 🙏

As a bipolar with more tendency to hypomanic or manic side, there are many days that I lose my self discipline, and quit philosophy books, note taking, and drawing, and just listen to extreme and/or dark music and just beating up my journal hard. Other days in thencontrary, my hypomania or mania makes me sickening obssessive with these endevours and getting in a trance-like, exstatic, focused state and getting things done. Can't control it. Many people don't have a choise, we are in the mercy of our muse.

Absolutely, self-discipline is the cornerstone of success-it's about making the choice to prioritize your long-term goals over short-term comforts. Breaking down big goals into smaller, actionable steps not only makes them more manageable but also requires less discipline to tackle each day. 🚀💪

So, discipline is opposite to metaphysical concept of "inspired action" -- first shifting your energy & then taking action when feeling better. Law of Attraction & other metaphysical concepts involve motivation -- inner/ "energy" (meditation) work first & then doing things in a joyful state.
