    Make sure they are supervised. I know too many accounts of kids not knowing basic precautions and killing people with their toy bows by accident.

    This reminds me of how Kyudo bows are made, though very different! (The use of many bamboo pieces is what reminded me.) Cool!

    I am actually very impressed with the "tiller" of the bow, really cool to see it achieve a bend that even only by staggering the bamboo.

    It’s also surprisingly easy to fix the tiller with this design. If you get a hinge you can always just patch it with 1 more stick

    👍 Reminds me of my earliest attempts just a few years ago, the triple shafted arrows look like they would be good for fishing. Currently chopping and rasping 3 hazel bows, it was 4 two days ago, I'll be happy if 1 survives for shooting.

    I have a soft spot for hazel bows! Definitely one of my more sentimental bow woods. I could work all hazel staves and not complain!

    First time seeing bundle arrows. Cool. I made several bundle bows dried from field gathered bamboo. Only 5-10% of wild gathered bamboo sticks are bow grade material.

    I love how you just jumped into it with some River cane and duct tape and came out with an amazing bundle bow! I wish there was just a little bit more when they came to measurements but you know what compared to all the other videos that I've seen on KZread on bundle bows this is gold bro solid gold!

    I recommend wrapping the tail that will wrap around the loop one extra time around the string, I think it’s called a japanese bow string knot or something similar. That extra wrap really helps avoid the knot slipping

    I’ve never had one slip with 2 loops and I tie these several times a day. Have heard the same from other bowyers too. Smaller pin nocks won’t fit well with a 3rd loop since that limits the minimum size the loop can cinch down to. Doesn’t hurt if the nock style allows it but the third loop is hardly necessary

    hello there! ive been watching your videos for a long time.. thought i should try crafting a pvc bow XD... ive ordered a heat gun which heats up to 700C. wanted to know if it is good enough? also it was hard to find the right type of pvc for the bow where i live.. but i found that cpvc have similar properties.. so can i use cpvc instead of pvc?

    The chlorine gases released when you heat the cpvc or pvc are going to make you sick.

    How long are the pieces before you start bundling them? At my hardware store theyre 6ft long. Do i just cut them in half and try to stagger them to get a 6 foot bow?

  • @DanSantanaBows

    @DanSantanaBows

    Ай бұрын

    About 30 to 36” as a guess. The 6ft bamboo poles at most stores are too thick for this design. but if they’re thin and very flexible you can keep a couple that length, and then add in shorter and shorter lengths in a staggered arrangement

    @@DanSantanaBows thank you for the response! And I like your design on this video rather than having any that are the full length of the bow. I've tried a design that works like that several times and some part of it always snaps. I suspect that it's because too much of each individual stick is bending from the middle. I'm about halfway through this design and I already feel better about each pole doing less work and working off each other to survive better.

    Is there a good way to stop the paracord from cutting through the duct tape at the limb tips? Or do you just have to repair it regularly?

  • @DanSantanaBows

    @DanSantanaBows

    11 ай бұрын

    If you can get the string up against the solid flat end of one of the pieces of bamboo that should hold it steady. If it’s duct tape that’s holding the string that will always rip eventually
