    Flounder cooks great. Fry it up a bit, scrape some of the meat to the side, then you can pull the entire skeleton out in one go- all of the bones come right out of it super easily.

Gigging was tons of fun. I know the name of the bait says another species... but .... "The Redfish Magic" spinner bait with a white soft plastic is my most productive flounder pounder.... Less snags on the bottom or weeds... You can work it slower.... It's not like..... What you're doing don't work. But.... I like that spinner bait action and flash. It's also great to flip back into FLOODED GRASS on full moon high tides for reds. Nice clip. Thanks

    Thanks. You don't think a gulp curly tail grub would add flavor and help to catch more? Do you hop and twitch the spinner rig on bottom and how long do you wait to set the hook on flounder, please.

  • @francus7227

    @francus7227

    Жыл бұрын

    @@joshgordon2484 I don't like gulp. I'm not saying it doesn't work. I'm saying, if it works, it doesn't work well enough. I don't like to get my fingers sticky. I catch TOOO MANY fish without scent or scented bait for me to get my fingers stinky using them. I like a 5:1 ratio. Sit for one second and reel/pull for five seconds. I pull/reel just fast enough to get the blade spinning and keep it off the bottom.. With flounder and a live mullet or other live fish, you have to wait to set the hook. They "mouth it" and move it around before they actuallytake it in.... It's probably the most difficult hook set in all of fishing. With artificial? I set immediately. They're not playing with an artificial grub like they do a live fish... Good luck. I'm giving you 2nd hand information I've gotten from friends that DO flounder fish. I'm a trout guy... Neither are terribly difficult. Both take years of experience to get GREAT at doing. Most people never catch an 8 pound trout or flounder their whole lives. Many have caught an 8 pound red on their first cast.... Reds and small trout are tourist fish. Big trout and flounder are TROPHY fish that you hunt for... If I'm hunting flounder it's with a white grub Redfish Magic unless it's DEEP vertical jigging, then I'd use just a jig and grub without the blade. Hope that helps.

    I’ve always had trouble with targeting flounder. Do you let the jig/lure fall the way down to the floor then start your retrieve or you kind of guess more or less when the lure is close to the floor and then start your retrieve? For me It’s difficult to catch flounder in Texas due to how much grass there is at the bottom and gets my lure all full of grass or gets snagged.

  • @francus7227

    @francus7227

    Жыл бұрын

    Look on line.... Fine the "Redfish Magic". Its a spinner bait. It will come right through the grass 95%. One time in 20??? it will get hung up. It says Redfish Magic but it SLAYS the flounder too. But yes, you will have to slow it down to catch flatties. Steady retrieve retrieve for reds and trout. Good luck....
