    Hi Johnny, I like to tie those rubber squid rigs. Not only are they good fluke rigs but they are deadly on sea bass and weakfish. I use octopus circle hooks when I target sea bass and weaks and I atttach a thin squid strip to the hook instead of a gulp bait. Works great! Thanks for the tips! Very helpful vid!

    Hey JPN! Thanks so much for watching and nice comment! Makes my day! Yeah those tactics work great for seabass and weakfish! So happy to hear your having great success with it. The same rig also works wonders at 900ft for Tile fish! Such a great versatile rig... squid is a good choice in bait! ;) thanks again for watching! Have a great weekend!

    Congratulations on your newborn. I like to watch your videos I learn a lot from you. So my question is is the Cape May reef a good spot to go flounder fishing And are they biting.

  • @Johnnyfishalot

    @Johnnyfishalot

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Robert!! Thanks so much for the kind words! And thanks so much for watching!! To answer your questions yes cape may reef is a good spot, but heavily pressured so I would have a plan B and C just in case fishing is tough... secondly it's tough to say if fish are biting in the future tense because the conditions and fish are always changing... fluke fishing has been really good last two weeks, so lately fishing has been good... just remember the lessons in the video, sometimes you need to wait for water movement for fish to become active and it's super important to find the structure and fish... rock piles, boulders, artificial reefs are all great spots for fluke... I hope this helps, please let me know if you have additional questions! Thanks!!

    I just got the qauntim reel how tight do you keep your drag?

  • @Johnnyfishalot

    @Johnnyfishalot

    Күн бұрын

    Hey @jason9592 NICCEEEE Hope you enjoy the reel... I actually just caught a bunch of big drum fish with that accurist and it did great on 50 and 60lb fish in heavy current... I always recommend setting your drag at 30% of the breaking strength of your line... so if you are fishing with 10lb test line, set your drag for 3lbs (at least to start) The accurist has a crazy capacity for drag, but no reason to have that drag locked out... Does that help?? LEt me know if you have any further questions. Thanks so much for tuning in and for the comment... REally appreciate it.

    How many inches is the dropper loop on the squid rig ? You need to get that loop over the hook .

  • @Johnnyfishalot

    @Johnnyfishalot

    8 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the comment @gerardamitranno8837 Honestly, make the dropper look not just big enough to fit the hook and tubing through... the longer you make the loop the more increased chances you have with tangles... You see those videos on longggg t-knot rigs all the time, but those are tangle central. Hope this helps...

    What would you use for a live lining spot or other bait fish thanks

  • @Johnnyfishalot

    @Johnnyfishalot

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Timothy, thanks so much for watching and your question... if you are fishing in any decent current I'd go with the long leader rig I show at the end of the video, if fishing shallow water you can def use a jig head with live bait hooked through the nose, if your not in much current and fishing shallow I'd recommend just a slip float or Cajun thunder bobber with the hook set underneath to your desired depth... I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions... thanks again, have a great weekend.

    Hey Harvey... Thanks so much for watching and the comment... here's some of the tubes I use, I just order them off of amazon... You can buy any brand you like, but for offshore Fluke Fishing I'd just recommend getting 4-5 inche tubes and mixing in some white and chartruse glow. I also use a trokar hook (super sharp) in either a 5/0 or 6/0 hook. I left the names of some of the things I use and the links below if you are interested. I hope this helps!! Have you ever tried rattles on your fluke rigs??

  • @Johnnyfishalot

    @Johnnyfishalot

    11 ай бұрын

    Hey PopPop Joe! Thanks so much for watching and the comment... Yes, I have used and do use rattles for fluke... I usually accomplish this with a few beeds or a rattle. However, I tend to focus more type of lure/rig depending on conditions to get the lures/baits in the strike zone, then on profile of the baits/lures (size and motion), then probably scent / colors... How about you? do you rely heavily on beeds/rattles? Or do you also focus on different aspects of your lures/baits? Thanks so much again for the comment!! And for tuning in!!
