Yea it feels great to be back in there working on it hopefully we can keep at it over next few months
I just installed one of these. I decided to go above the trim and built a platform. Use goggles! I got a sliver of metal in my eyeball even with sunglasses.

That’s awesome yea it’s kind of an awkward spot you either have to cut down or build up, I ended up with a bit of a platform on mine too.
Well done guys 👏🏼 look forward to seeing the finished product!

Thank you, yea it’s been a while but hopefully we can keep things rolling now 🙏
From Canada: it's not the first time I see Aussies van builders cutting such gigantic hole in the side of their project just to heat water: there are so many other water heating systems not requiring such kind of cutting work.

Yea fair enough. I think our Aus regulations are a bit different and we can only use certain types of heating systems and our gas has to be located on the outside of the vans. It’s interesting to see what the differences are from country to country 🙏
Awesome work! The amount of rain we've been getting is dreadful yesterday afternoon was chaos! I hope you guys are all good and have power!

@@BradandJaz that's good to hear, yeah we're okay but most suburbs don't have power around me including the one I'm in. A big tree branch snapped off at my aunties house and hit the gutter on their shed. Luckily it isn't too bad.

@@BradandJaz that's global warming at work. The planet is taking heat from Australia and delivering it to the Northern hemisphere lol
SIKAFLEX...... man, that stuff is painful to work with. Had to use it at a previous job, the shit gets super messy. And If it gets on your clothes, good luck getting it off! Turned out a treat, well done guys, good work!

I am researching what heater to install in my Mercedes Sprinter Conversion. I had selected the IMASS instantaneous Water heater to be installed exactly the same location as yours. Which I believe is the same as yours. I requested what else I required from the supplier for the install I had chosen too powerful a pump. Then they started suggesting other water heaters which partly use heat from the diesel hot air blower plus 12 volts to heat the water. i have solar panels on the roof. But consider heating water from the 12 volt system too big a drain. I did not like anything interfering with the 12 volt supply as it is vital for starting the van. Under my van I have a LPG tank and a water tank where the spare wheel was. My spare wheel is on the back door. If anything happens to the LPG supply it is not a big deal I can go without LPG at a push. I carry spare Diesel. I will stick to my original idea and follow you. But I will take off the plastic panels/trim from the van side before cutting the hole and raise the IMASS instantaneous water heater up 4 inches from the floor. Thank you for sharing your experience. Sikaflex is very messy stuff to work with.

Yea so many different ways of doing it all, sounds like you’ve done some awesome research… haha sikaflex is the devil
What kind of sealant did you use on the water heater? Just regular anti-sag lap sealant?

Haha nah not at all mate just had a very busy few months and had to make sure the new business was alls et up before spending time on the van it to mention the crazy amount of rain we have been getting has made working on the van difficult. But hopefully we get on a bit of a roll now 🙏 thanks for sticking around
