Alaskan Leader Cod
- All Alaskan seafood is wild and sustainable, and it is managed for protection against overfishing, habitat damage, and pollution
- Hook n Line Caught: It’s a non-destructive way of catching fish - the fish are caught one at a time, avoiding bycatch
- Flash Frozen Immediately: Preserves all the nutrients
- MSC Certified Sustainable (Marine Stewardship Council)
Blue fish label is only applied to wild fish or seafood from fisheries that have been certified to the MSC Fisheries Standard, a science-based set of requirements for sustainable fishing

Cod Benefits
Choline
Choline is a precursor to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine - prompts synaptogenesis
Molybdenum
The molybdenum cofactor activates four essential enzymes
- Sulfite oxidase
- Aldehyde oxidase
Xanthine oxidase -
Mitochondrial amidoxime reducing component (mARC)
Selenium & Phosphorus
+ an array of B Vitamins
Ghee
ghee is a better version of butter with a richer taste, higher smoke point, deeper color, and more nutrients - contains almost no lactose
Ghee also contains butyric acid
bHB is a ketone body, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and butyrate is a short chain fatty acid (SCFA)
One paper all the way back from 1962 that showed how the (rat) liver can turn butyrate into beta-hydroxybutyrate (from here on, BHB), published in the Biochemical Journal. However, for the most part, and for practical purposes, it’s best to think of butyrate and BHB as separate.
www.ncbi.nlm.n...
Butyrate is also a signaling molecule:
Induces the secretion of glucagon-like peptide 1, improving insulin sensitivity.
Increases BDNF levels, promoting neuronal growth and health in the brain.
Inhibits histone deacetylases (HDACs) to change gene expression.
Inhibits NFkB and activates regulator T-cells to decrease inflammation.
Induces fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) to increase beta-oxidation and, thereby, increase fat burning and the production of ketones.
Garlic
12-week study (Advances in Therapy) found that a daily garlic supplement reduced the number of colds by 63% compared to a placebo
The average length of cold symptoms was also reduced by 70%, from 5 days in the placebo group to just 1.5 days in the garlic group
www.ncbi.nlm.n...
Lemon
Lemon helps in the detoxification process by stimulating bile to remove toxins - contains a soluble fiber known as pectin

If you want to make cod parmigiana, you can add 3 Tbsp avocado mayo to 4 Tbsp melted ghee and 2 Tbsp lemon juice, then mix in half cup grated parmesan cheese and 1/4 tsp basil flakes. Then follow Thomas's recipe and spread the parmigiana sauce on the cod instead of the straight melted ghee right after he flips the fish and before covering the pan (helps to use the cover for the pan to turn the parmigiana golden brown).

I make cod with very similar ingredients however I bake in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes, remove, add lemon juice, 1/4 c. white wine and top with ground pork rinds. Bake an additional 10 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and WaLa! Perfect cod.

Tom, after being plateaued for 6.5 weeks, I watched your video. I upped my calories for a week & stopped having coffee w/ coconut creamer & Monk Fruit in morning (which was actually during fasting of 16/8) I had of course gained 3 lbs while upping the calories but when I got rid of morning coffee as well, I lost 5 lbs for a net loss of 2, finally breaking a barrier. Thanks so much for that video. I was almost at my wits end but am totally back on track. I will be interested in seeing next Wednesday's weigh in! I am now down 39.5 officially, just shy of one third I have to lose. In my 70s and feeling great for the first time in many years!

Allicin is destroyed by heat so you don't need to wait 10 mins after you chop the garlic if you're going to cook with it. The sulfur components of garlic, however, are not destroyed by cooking. If you want allicin, chop garlic, wait 10 mins, then eat it raw.
