The Early Struggles of Takanashi Kiara

Ойындар

A video which talks about Takanashi Kiara. I wanted to cover 3 things: first the kind of content she makes, her struggles and then finish off with a bit of analysis. Doing analyses are fun, although I probably missed a factor or two.
I chose to make a video on Kiara because she was requested.
I grade this one a B.
It seems my computer isn't strong enough to run Davinci Resolve. It started lagging heavily after a while, and now I can't make a single edit without waiting 20-30 seconds for it to go through. And that's one of many reasons I'm a bit dissatisfied with this one. But then, I'm not satisfied with any of my videos.

For me it seems like Kiara not has the largest fan base but a very loyal one. I respect her for playing the games that she enjoys even though it costs her many viewers. It´s far better than only playing the game that is the most hyped game in Hololive rn just to maintain a steady viewer count.

As KFP employee for almost 2 years now, I can agree that the fanbase is one of the most united and due to how Kiara treats her fanbase as her restaurant employees, it feels like we all have a place and part of her story. She is goes out of her way to interact with fans and tries to keep a folder of photo with all those she met at meet and greet and want to remember those that has supported her over the years. I have yet to see a streamer go such lengths to interact with her fanbase like Tenchou did with KFP. Viva La Kiara, Viva la KFP!

As someone who's been a HoloMyth fan and primarily a KFP employee for more than a year now, I have to agree that Kiara probably has one of the most loyal and supportive fanbase in all of Hololive. I tend to lurk in HoloEn communities and the amount of love and support Kiara gets from KFP is something else. It's also because of how much she gives back to her fans as well. She's the one who interacts and responds the most to her fans especially on twitter which is why I think a lot of us feel closer to her and feel like she really values all of her fans

Quite a few people mocked Council for having such a rough/slow start, but honestly, how do you follow what came before!? Myth was such a ridiculously strong powerhouse, they helped to propel HoloLive/Cover to new heights. That said, everything has been coming together and all are fun. But Kiara has been something special despite having a rough go of it herself.

Tbh Kiara is one of my fav holo just because how honest she is, ofc i like the tangents histories and her reactions but honesty is the main factor, when she doesn't like something she said it, also probably many empathize with her insecurities and this is the point were many probably don't like her but in the position she is her insecurities are legit , its not the same entering a company to work with people in higher status than entering as a trainee, nobody expected myth massive success so ofc all the girls will try to fullfil the new demand and that is scary af and Kiara was the one to express that fear the most probably because of her previous failures, in her streams she spoke a lot of that, anyway every person is different and of a lot of people will find some gold in other trash and vice versa so if you like her great if you don't its also great

From what I've seen, the problem with honesty is that people like it when they agree with what you're saying, but hate it when they don't. Kiara is willing to speak her mind even at times when she knows that most people won't agree or will even hold it against her. Even if it's painful for her she will tell the truth. It's what makes her brand of honesty so remarkable. There's real courage there, like when she told Coco on Holotalk to not worry about management and express herself.

Something that Kiara said recently on stream really stood out to me as a perfect example of who she is and why her fanbase loves her so much. A few days before one of her streams, a KFP member on Twitter expressed some truly dark thoughts about himself and even doubts that he could go on living. He didn't tag Kiara or anything like that, but she just so happened to see it and quickly reached out to encourage them. She told them they were loved and appreciated and recommended them to seek professional mental help. Thankfully, this person pulled through their crisis. Not long after that, someone superchatted her to express thanks for her handling of the situation on the depressed fan's behalf. Kiara's response impressed me. To paraphrase, she said: "Of course I would help them. My fans are always supporting me, so I'm just giving that support back." I'm sure there are some legitimate criticisms that can be made about her (or any streamer really) but as a fan, it really bothers me when people call her self-centered or ungrateful like in that 1 million celebration clip. She's a deeply caring person who always tries to make those around her happy. She might not be that's something nobody can take away from her. On a lighter note, I personally like Kiara for her sense of humor. Occasionally racy, sometimes irreverent, she doesn't take things too seriously and often looks for the lighter side of things. If you want to give her a try, I'd recommend her first GTA5 or Sims 4 streams.

Dude studying Latin is fairly common and most schools offer it (especially church owned ones). As it was the lingua franca of medieval Christianity and then was picked up to be used in scientific and medical terminology, it is seen as a good foundational language for anyone going into a scientific or historical field. My clumsy female childhood friend went to a Catholic school and they even had compulsory Latin study for 2 years. Just saying cuz you make it sound outlandish but far more likely that she just studied it as part of her normal education.

Kiara pulled me out of an extremely dark hole. For the first time in years, while watching her streams, I found myself smiling naturally. I never smile. If her fans have an issue, she does her best to fix it for them. She adjusts her schedule to try to meet our needs as we work. She always talks with fans on Twitter, and she's the one the pushed hard for meet-and-greets with fans before it was a common thing in Hololive. More than anything, she's thrilled to finally have fans after working so hard to be an entertainer. She's also responsible for one of the most unbelievable experiences in my life. An experience that I would guess maybe only a handful of Holofans have EVER gotten to experience. And all because she is as in love with her fans as we are with her. She has changed my life. There are two reasons why I jumped into the Vtuber rabbit hole: The Gura memes. And Kiara, when someone unfortunately said they were dying of cancer, and that it might be their last stream. Kiara was crying, saying it doesn't matter if it might be fake since it might still be real (unfortunately it was...) Kiara then tried to push through her tears and say that they'll be reborn as a phoenix. This broke me, because I generally thought at first, they're just acting as a character. This made me realize the humans behind the models, and how much heart they have.

When I first saw all of them together in their early collabs, she was really playing into the whole TakaMori thing, and it honestly put me off since that was the only personality trait I knew about her. I am glad someone else mentioned that, trying to pander to shippers is already a bad idea, but the way she did it made it feel like she was riding Moris coat-tails way too much. It would be one thing if it was mutual or genuine, but it really felt like a publicity stunt. And i have no idea who to blame: kiara or hololive because it doesnt seem like something she would do without corporate intervention. It kinda reminded me of TGWTG when they made Nostalgia Chick an overly attached girlfriend for Todd in the Shadows as a bit.... and yes they did really date later, but it was clearly a forced bit when they did it. Back to Kiara though, I will say it is nice that it resulted in lots of hot Mori and Kiara yuri. But that is the one upside.

Iluna in NijiEN has this going on with Aia & Scarle, whose superchat revenue vastly outperforms their other numbers. Interesting that you were dissatisfied with the video. I think a lot of it is right but here are some things that could be better if you decide to re-do it: 1. Saying she didn't take advantage of her skills until last year is a bit wrong, because even though she wanted to dance and sing, those are skills that can't be shown unless she puts big money on the line, which she didn't have in debut. Most talents have to pay for their songs and don't get 3D until a year after, so at most she could do a VR stream like Ame did at first bc she didn't have access to that tech, especially when she moved back to Austria. 2. I think it'd benefit you to check the interviews she did with Crunchyroll and Febri (a Japanese website) where she talks about her struggles and her viewpoint from the beginning. It can give you more perspective and reinforce some of what you said. Sorry for the rant, but it's because I think the potential and accuracy of the video could be greater than what it is at the moment.

Yeah. I'm a fan of some of the holostar en members and... yeah, their first gen comes like half-way to council's size, but man, Myth is gigantic. @@alfredong6850 My slightly spicier take is that, along with COVID, what helped Hololive grow their EN fanbase in 2020 was coming off less like an idol agency than they have before or since. Largely because Coco was there and given more free reign creatively (though we know there were still exceptions such as the planned collab with Melody) - her existence convinced a lot of newer fans that the whole idol thing was just memes. Compare that to nowadays, where Hololive has had a number of incidents that feel just like idol-industry drama and other agencies have grown significantly by promoting talent that makes Holo's look like Veggie Tales by comparison. tl;dr Hololive had enough horny broken-brained gremlins to appeal to the non-idol fans (like me) in 2020, but competitors have scooped up a lot of that audience now and the company itself has taken on a bit different identity since then.

Subscribers don't matter. Active and returning viewers and fans matter. A lovely relationship between idol and fanbase matters. Fun, trust and honesty from everyone in that community matter. Kiara and KFP have all that, so I give a, sorry for that harsh wording, shit about her subscriber count. I'm not in her streams to watch that counter rise but to enjoy my time, laugh and meet new people. Very, and I mean VERY few idols are such a safe space for me to let go all the stress from the day and relax. Love you Kiara😘🧡🧡🧡.

I think Kiara took the longest amount of time to settle herself in Holo but she stood strong, the early TakaMori dynamic got old really fast and people stopped reaching out to her, in my opinion when she killed TakaMori she started rising. Kiara is the most direct member in Holo and that's what made a lot of people not liking her as she would not filter a lot of things for better and sometimes for worse as people tend to take negative things as bad things by nature, more than once she had to call out clippers doing misleading titles out of her streams and she's not someone who would keep quiet if she doesn't feel like it and boi that isn't liked by a lot of people, I'm just happy she is doing amazing today as she's so unique and a great streamer to watch.

On one hand, Takamori was a perfect gateway ship and did a lot of work acclimatizing a new audience to the existing vtuber culture. People who would be hesitant to engage in what's essentially RPS were more comfortable with something that was clearly a character angle. There's a reason it's still popular today among holdouts. So from that point of view, Takamori worked. Unfortunately, for what it did for the fanbase, it didn't do much for the performers, and Kiara got the worst of it. People found it uncomfortable or even obnoxious and sometimes even harassed her about it as if she were *really* doggedly pursuing a coworker who kept saying no. Calli changed up her end of the angle to soften this, playing more of an awkward tsundere, and they both called the worst critics out, but it still dragged them down, poor Kiara especially. Combine that with how bad the fans got, such as a barrage of infidelity jokes when Kiara collabed with other people, and it's no wonder they called the whole angle off.

Thank you for that analysis, you did a pretty good job there. Especially the point with Kiaras talents being under-utilized due to different reasons is very important. Due to Cov*d she couldn't do 3D and since her 2nd song didn't perform that well, she was heavily questioning if she should continue making music (Heart Challenger was cute song, but a full Japanese shoujo-ish song probably isn't the most popular genre in the English audience). Her language skills are great but it is true that her target audience is English speaking, so she has to cater to them most. Also, her being the only HoloMember in EU is simultaniously a blessing and a curse. She has the EU timeslots for herself, but VTubers aren't that popular here (yet) and she can barely parttake in the other girls' collabs without completely ruining her sleep schedule. But all that aside, now she's able to go full power: She's now finally able to do 3D streams, which means she can show her dance skills. Just think of the legendary Kikkerikick and her Hinotori performance that blew everyone away. Of course I'm biased but I'd say she delivered the best performance on Holofes day two (on day one it was Moona). Also, she has now found a style in music that fits her exceptionally well. The three songs that went in the direction of K-Pop and EDM (Sparks, Do U, 4 Blood) were received very well, so I think she'll build on that. And I think an EP is in the making right now. So yeah, she had a lot of struggles in the beginning. But seeing her confidence and skills as they are now I couldn't be more proud of her.

I won't lie, I did initially start watching Kiara specifically because I saw how noticeably behind she was compared to the other myth members. I felt kinda bad for her, I could only imagine how that might feel to be the least subbed member of a group like that, and I wanted to see what she was all about. I guess you could call me a "pity sub." But I became a hardcore genuine fan of her because of it. Once I saw for myself how naturally kind, talented, and entertaining she was as a person I knew she was my oshi. So in some backward sorta way, her lack of initial popularity is ultimately what made me such a big fan.

I am an investor, and if you do equity, you know we deal with risk and failure is part of the job. It is inspiring to watch her work and grow. I agree with your points in this VDO. I had a similar conversation with the marketing person. She pointed out that the demographic of tenchou's audience is very niche. Just timezone alone, Play jrpg when Japanese are sleeping, speak English when American are sleeping. No doubt KFP are dedicated chicken. In any case, I'll take being the last to hit a milestone, as long as she's the last to quit. I never understand idol fans until I become one. Good thing tenchou isn't smart. She will never graduate. I think her audience is a bit older, very mixed, not the highest in numbers but very dedicated. That's why she's among the most superchatted talents: her fans already make money that they can spend to support her (I mean, it feels like Taichi alone throws a grant per month at her 😅) But yeah, I also often thought about her target audience, and it's not easy: The EU area isn't that open to VTubers yet and it's divided into many different cultures. Most speak English but maybe not on a conversational level. Her beeing Austrian is a big plus for me as a German, but maybe not all people from other countries like that. Well, and the issues with the potential NA and JP fans you already covered. Also, her beeing alone in EU timezones make collabs way harder. Our Phoenix really has to fight a lot.

Kiara's problem also is that Myth was an absolutely insane generation. Trying to compare and compete is doomed to fail, because you start comparing yourself to their strengths, and feel like your own talents in that field are weaknesses. What's a shame is that when Kiara just focuses on having fun in the moment, that's when her content is the very best. Hearing her say "you little shit" and such outbursts are just great, but she has unfortunately a tendency to compare herself to her genmates and let insecurity guide her to overcompensation. So, Kiara, should you for some godforsaken reason be reading this: Give up. Give up trying to change yourself into something more popular. I don't want a Kiara attempting to be like Gura or Ina, I just want Kiara. With Love, from a takodachi who always enjoys when you interact with Ina (and some of your standalone stuff too ofc, but I'm not gonna be a bullshitter who claims to be kfp, I just shop there every now and then :) ) Also, holomyth is just an insane generation. And remember, 100 ride-or-die fans are better than 10000 "yeah sure I'll sub I guess..." subscribers. You have quite a few of the first kind Kiara.

But as things are now I think we can say with confidence that Kiara found her groove. And especially with the 3D possibilities she can now show off her dancing and performing skills in which she excels in Myth. (No offense to Calli, her rapping-dance style is cool, too. But it's naturally not that kind of dancing you normally see during pop performances.) Always feel free to drop by at KFP for some fried chi-... uhh Phoenix and a good time. As someone who’s watched her since the debuts and not being a KFP at first (definitely watched Gura and Calli the most at first) she’s really improved a lot. Her insecurities and emotions got the best of her at times early on but she was and is always genuine with her feelings. That same genuineness clearly fuels her love for her fans, passion for big projects and performances, and her dedication to streaming so much. She interacts the most of all of EN with her fans on Twitter and KZread plus has things set up for vacations like prerecorded videos or shorts. With her unofficial 3D concert last year she did amazing and at the holo fes last year she genuinely had one of the best performances overall (as in singing, dancing, energy, etc.). She is such a huge inspiration for other vtubers too as I’ve seen her collab with some this year. She have had insecurity issues, especially early on. But as she got more comfortable, she upped her game, showing more of her chaotic side and adding more layers to her content. She have also developed really good banter and dynamics with the viewers. I think her comparing herself to others is 100% self doubt. Sometimes she says too much, which shifts the mood in a bad direction, but it happens less and less. In a way it's a good thing that she speaks frankly sometimes, because it makes her easier to read.

my comment is gonna be buried but i see a lot of familiar names here which is truly heart warming. kiara herself knows kfp loves her, and undeniably, even for non-kfp, many viewers can see how much she loves us too. And might I add that how Kiara's always the one vocal about her genmates? She loves them so much, and cares for even her friends' fan bases. When Ina went on break, Kiara made it known she will try her best to get updates and even asked and got the perms to show Ina's part in a sponsored game stream. and more recently, showing a video of her and Gura singing before Gura's return, which made Chumbies go wild with crumbs of Gura's voice again. Her constant lovemailing to Ame when Ame helped her with her concert and where do I even start about her bonds with Calli? These two have so much trust and appreciation for each other. She's vocal about her love for her fans, and her love for her friends. It's hard not to love someone with so much love to give, even if she is still learning how to love herself. and honestly as long as she stays genuine to herself and the people around her, i'm ready to stick around for as long as i can.

Good summary of a crazy timeline that's been crazy to experience since Day 1 All Myth Debuts were amazing and it was a fun start to their streams. I was put off initially because I was trying to keep up the DD for all members and I thought "I can't be the loyal KFP employee she jokes about and her style is fun but not my preference so I will support her at a distance" Overtime I slowly appreciated her content and hard work more and more because she kept trying new things, would speak her mind, nurtured a supporting community, and dealt with a lot of shittake. I still kept the KFP loyalty thing at a distant....but then with a lucky work trip to EU 8:39 on the left you can see my Omocat Myth jacket doing penlight cheering for the first time surrounded by KFP and other awesome people I met for the first time It was an amazing memory that Kiara, fans, and staff helped create. I was blown away with KFP support and Kiara really was someone I started thinking "That is a top Fiery Idol!" When Kiara says she can't be a Beethoven, I want her to know that I hold more cherished memories of her streams and that trip. The entertainment scene in japan is so competitive and stressful, so my empathy goes out to Kiara. If you are a seiyuu and your last role you voiced is a hated or unpopular character, you wont get casted again. If your a singer and your song doesn’t blast off trucks in 2 in the morning, your studio wont let you produce another song. If your an actor and your show gets 1% of a viewer drop, you’ll be forgotten. If your a mangaka and your publisher sees that the readers aren’t voting for you, your manga is axed. If you can’t break top 500, your trash. If you cant break top 50, you arent good enough. Top ten, you get a warning to pick up the slack or your axed. Top 5, you arent good enough. If there is a dirty scratch on your name, someone referred to you in a dirty tone, magazines have you in the side margin or you make headlines for all the wrong reasons, your career can vanish. Kiara had worked hard to achieve her dream, and failed to grasp it. She now works as a talent, in an industry that is a carbon copy of the Idol industry, which is notorious for being the one most toxic, competitive, harsh industries known to man. The expansion to English speaking viewers was a risky move, and having lacking numbers in a risky venture from a harsh industry is scary. I hope for her to be ok. I hope for her to achieve her dream. I hope for her the best

I got into Kiara just a few days before her channel got deleted because of Takamori clips and I am proud to be a fellow KFP

I initially started watching a lot of the more popular HoloEN girls like Gura, Kronii and Ame. I actually did not want to watch Kiara at first cus I thought I wouldn't like her, but then I started watching the EN minecraft streams. She was the first in the playlist and I was hooked. Her personality was incredible and the care she gives her fans is really endearing. I join memberships of the other hologirls on and off but Kiara is the one that has stayed constant for me. She makes you want to root for her because of how hard she works for us. A true idol.

I am subscribed to all the en girls cause each one has something I like. For Kiara it is the unfiltered, easy social interaction with people which is why I can see her and Cali getting along so easily. The other is I enjoy the songs she has sang combined with that unique voice of hers. Her clabs are fun to watch as she brings the energy.

I always felt like Kiara was trying to be something she expected herself to be. It was her first Mario Kart stream. That showed who she was when she was just herself. I loved her since debut, that moment just made me happy for her.

I came here expecting the end to be a huge comeback. With Holotori, and Being Kobo's mom, her ability to establish strong and popular connections is why I thought she may have surpassed at least Ina. In the early days I never even thought about Kiara but now a days I consider her the technically best Myth member, even if she isn't my personal favorite. Maybe it still comes down to individual content, even though she is an S++ collaber.

I think she was the last one to find her true voice. That's why most people didn't give much chance at start. Now she's at her best while everybody kinda burned out

That point about RPG streams containing spoilers hits home for me. She always seems to be playing games that I'm interested in, but haven't played yet; so i really want to watch them but can't until i get around to playing the game myself. I was lucky when she started playing Yakuza 0 right after I finished it.

I may not like her content, but I highly respect her character. She always has a big heart on her sleeve, and is very honest and open about her opinions. May not agree with some points, but I admire the honesty of them.

For some time, Kiara was legit my favourite vtuber of all time. She had perfect design, was a huge Tales fan (though this is due to playing them a la Persona fan or incomplete runs), was humble and struggle a lot with her own self-esteem. I dare to say she's one of the few vtubers that resonated with me.

Kiwawa! I've been a loyal KFP employee since Hinotori dropped. I like her sincerity very much, she's open with some things but knows when to draw the line with KFP or other viewers' behavior. Also she likes to talk and I like to listen so it's a good dynamic.

Thx for the video, I think Kiara takes her slow growth too harshly. It's upsetting to her, when you compare yourself to your friends, it's hard, but I saddens me because she has a really strong fanbase that loves her still. She should still be happy and grateful to her existing fans

Well she does actually really love her fans and she says it almost every stream lol. She keeps her fans always informed on what’s up with her schedules and such plus interacts with them the most on places like twitter. So yeah she’s definitely grateful there’s even a clip or maybe a vod of hers where she reads a letter she wrote to her fan base on her anniversary day

This is my take on this which the video didnt address. Kiara wears her emotion on her sleeves and her tangents talk about her problems alot. This might put off audience that just want to be entertain and escape real world problems. I remember a couple of times when she was preparing to move back to Austria and was really stressed out, that she broke down on stream. It can be a really tough watch. I have no doubt that her fans connect with her more because of it and therefore might be more loyal. But for the general audience this might not be great for viewing. Overall i dont think theres anything wrong with Kiara. She just cater to a different sort of audience.

Another big part that makes streaming jrpgs or any rpg give lower viewer count is that people who jump into the stream late, be it an hour or a few days, will miss parts. Thus won't know what is going on. This causes less investment and harms live viewership making people more likely to just watch the vods to catch up or stop watching. Which in turn hurts superchat volume as well.
