In the 4th and 5th centuries AD, the Huns, believed to have originated from the Xiongnu on the Mongolian steppe, migrated westward under the leadership of figures like Balamber. They defeated the Alans and Turkic tribes, and their conflicts with the Eastern Goths led to Gothic asylum in the Roman Empire. Uldin assumed leadership around 398, engaging in conflicts such as defeating Gainas in 400. Huns played a role in Western conflicts, aiding Romans against Gothic invasions. Uldin's later actions involved capturing fortresses but facing defeat and defections. Post-Uldin, Donatus and Ruga took leadership, with Ruga announcing campaigns in 434. Ruga's successors, Attila and Bleda, continued the Hunnic legacy, marking a significant period in Hunnic history with their reign.
