The Dungeon of Castillo San Cristobal - Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

In this series of videos, I go outside of Florida on a different kind of journey as my wife and her sister fulfill the wishes of their mother who had passed away, by bringing her body back home to beautiful Puerto Rico to her final resting place. It had been a very long time since either of the girls had been back to where they came from, so while we were there we retraced their footsteps as kids, visiting places they had been to with their mom, from El Morro in Old San Juan to the rain forest in El Yunque. While there, I filmed what I could of my own experiences, since it was the first time I had ever been to Puerto Rico, and it won't be the last.

A dungeon is a neat place to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay there.lol From all the writing on the wall, looks like several spent some time there in the past. Tons of history in those old forts for sure! I am really enjoying this series of videos! Thanks for sharing!

It was definitely a spooky place to be standing in, even with lights on, I can only imagine what it was for people who would be thrown in there when it was completely dark. Thanks for watching my videos as always, you're the best!

You really don’t want to stay there. It’s hot and stuffy in there.

Lots of history in Old San Juan, there are even supposed to be catacombs beneath one of the old churches, really hoping to check that out next time. Thanks for watching, always appreciated!

Life in Puerto Rico during the Spanish colonial period was short and could easily end violently... No wonder that 400 years of Spanish domination are nearly forgotten for most Puertorricans.

Life was never short or ended violently except for our enemies back then, the English, French and Dutch who for centuries attacked us and tried to conquer us but never could because the Puerto Ricans who were Spanish citizens always defended our island. And even in the U.S . invasion for months we were fighting and defending the island as we did for centuries but Spain was already in decline and orders came from Madrid to cease the fight, if not the United States had never conquered the island. Spain is our mother land and we will never forget it, it is our blood and our history and we are proud of our Hispanic heritage. That is why after 124 years since the military invasion and illegal occupation of the United States we still speak Spanish. That is why even today except the citizenship imposed by Congress we have nothing in common with the Americans, our language is different, our customs, traditions, music, food etc. We will never forget where we came from.

Help me, please, if you can! In 1993 a friend and I walked through every foot of tunnel we were allowed to under old fort /castillo s cris. At some point I came up on a door that was heavily bolted shut. On it was a sign saying (something to the extent of) " Beyond this door begins bermuda triangle. People have stepped into the tunnels behind this door and never been seen again." I had a photo of that door and sign and lost it long long ago. My memory my be beginning to play small tricks on me. Help me! Have you seen this door?

I didn't happen to see that door myself when I was there, but I wonder if it leads to the Devil's Sentry Box. If I get a chance to go back as soon as I'd like I'll try to find it and take a picture :)
