    I'm glad that the last rule isn't really enforced. The last game that I went to was a Nats vs Mets game, and there was a line of kids sitting in left field waiting for Lindor to sign their ball/glove/hat before the game. It was a really nice thing to see. It's always great to see players being nice to each other because of all the clips of them yelling at each other. If you think people being nice is a bad look, you should do something about the umpires, because their ejections for no reason are a bad look

These are things that humanize these athletes

    If you want to know more about Eddie Gaedel, give me a shout. He was my Grandpa's brother. He dropped the last E from his name because he didn't like people saying it wrong. I'm one of a few Gaedeles out there. A few years ago St. Louis brought me and some family members out to Busch Stadium and honored Eddie's legacy (small as it is, pun intended) by bringing us out on the field and giving away Eddie bobbleheads.

    Not sure you are entirely correct about 'the only ambidextrous pitcher in MLB history'. Ever heard of Greg A Harris? He was actually quite the ambidextrous pitcher, but for most of his career his team wouldnt allow him to pitch lefty. September 28, 1995, while with the Montreal Expos. In the ninth inning, Harris retired Reggie Sanders pitching right-handed, then switched to his left hand for the next two hitters, Hal Morris and Ed Taubensee, who both batted lefty. Harris walked Morris but got Taubensee to ground out. He then went back to his right hand to retire Bret Boone to end the inning. Harris's glove, which was custom built with an extra thumb so that it could be worn on either hand, is now on display at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I remember doing a paper in college on the various ways players have bent the rules across baseball’s history, so it’s great to see you cover the other end by noting how silly those rules can be sometimes. Just as one small note, while this video was a fun change of pace, I do hope you still keep using the intro format (and music) that you’ve used before, since that always set the mood in an awesome way. Even better if you can bring back the beat drop you used to do at the end of the intros, that was always a highlight for me! 😊

    It was no surprise they went without winning for decades, you should have seen their Spring Training facilities. I was an AT in the Florida State league in the late '80's. I have been in camping ground toilets in the middle of the effing swamp that were nicer. Very small, all concrete hovels. No AC, (Florida summer = 98⁰ & 99% humidity), water on the floors from leaking showers & doors that didn't shut completely, let alone any security. Players didn't bother to shower. You'd be drenched before you got dressed. Half a$$ ice machine, no real training room. It was disgusting. I don't know when they finally bulldozed it all, but I bet it coincided w/ them finally winning!

    13:05 is actually the first time this happened in baseball history on a pitched ball. Due to their being no official rule on using detached equipment on a pitched ball, umpiring crew chief Harry Wendelstedt ruled that based on common sense and fair play, each runner should be awarded one base. The rule was amended to the OBR the following season. Base awards for that particular rule are: three bases on a batted ball, two bases on a thrown ball, and now, thanks to this particular instance, one base on a pitched ball

    I think the dumbest thing is no standing ovations are allowed anymore for a batter since it’s a pitch clock violation. Cody Bellinger got 2 violations for simply letting the fans cheer for him

    that fraternization rule was the worst... players are expected to show no emotions and never talk and just quietly walk off the field after the game

    This has probably been pointed out already but, isn't "clowning around" with opposing team members part of true sportsmanship? To be 100% serious about the game, yet still have a good time. As for the fans, there's not much that will make a fan's day/year/life more than having a player interact with them in some way. And a player giving a hug, a jersey, a ball/puck to a child is something that the child will remember all their life. Who wants to put an end to that?

  • @robotba89
    @robotba89Ай бұрын

    Two things can be correct. In NHL hockey, a lot of players clearly understand that they can be friends and play hard when the puck drops. There are players that are friends and have physically punched each other in the face, to defend the teammates they have a signed contract with (their teammate). A lot of humans are evolved enough to be able to function in this way. It's people who can't tell the difference that think it's genuinely possible to "ban" players from opposite teams from being friends. It's also totally correct for that last guy to be enforcing the rule as much as he can, because we also like to gamble on sports. As long as he is doing his job, and people know when "friendly" players cross the line, we can leave things the way they are. I like the way it is in hockey, at least. Players often talk at center ice during the warmup. Sometimes it's angry, and sometimes it friendly. Playoffs, when it matters most, it's usually more angry, because players know when it is, and isn't appropriate to be friendly.

    I'm really surprised that nobody got those newer AR air glasses to use in the dugout. Not a single person would ever know that their watching youtube or scrolling the internet or even playing video games. They look just like regular sun glasses to other people who look at you, but what you're really looking at is a 4K, 300 inch IMAX screen!! They're insane!! They're pretty much like those VR headsets, but instead of having a big heavy bulky box hanging on your face, these are literally just sun glasses. And yes!! You can even still see everything going on around you!! I was blown away when I heard about them!! And They're cheap!! They're only like 350 dollars!! If you don't know what I'm talking about theyre called "Xreal AR Glasses." Look em up and you'll be shocked!! If I was in the MLB and never got any playing time and had to sit in the dugout, I would absolutely 10000% be wearing these glasses!!

    With that last rule mentioned, players who were traded and playing against his former team can't talk to his former teammates. Players aren't allowed to interact with the fans, either. I think that is wrong.

    I like Joe Torres rule. If I managed a team, you would not be allowed to talk to or be nice to the other team on game day. In fact, if you weren't cursing their mothers I'd wonder whose side you were on.
