I think the worry is someone will get into a fight these days and yelling at fans/causing a Malice at the Palace level fight won’t have any suspensions for getting in the audiences face. It’s most likely still there so they have something on the books to throw at someone who crosses a line.

I'm glad that the last rule isn't really enforced. The last game that I went to was a Nats vs Mets game, and there was a line of kids sitting in left field waiting for Lindor to sign their ball/glove/hat before the game. It was a really nice thing to see. It's always great to see players being nice to each other because of all the clips of them yelling at each other. If you think people being nice is a bad look, you should do something about the umpires, because their ejections for no reason are a bad look
The one thing you can’t forget about Eddie Gaedel: he was told not to swing and if he did that a sniper in the stands would shoot him. Thank you Ken Burns’ Baseball for that tidbit.

That last rule is so bogus. As a huge hockey fan, a big part of it that I love is that these big, tough strong athletes often play around and have fun with each other during down time, plus, seeing any athlete give a young fan a piece of game used memorobilia or even just a head scratch is always heartwarming. These are things that humanize these athletes
If you want to know more about Eddie Gaedel, give me a shout. He was my Grandpa's brother. He dropped the last E from his name because he didn't like people saying it wrong. I'm one of a few Gaedeles out there. A few years ago St. Louis brought me and some family members out to Busch Stadium and honored Eddie's legacy (small as it is, pun intended) by bringing us out on the field and giving away Eddie bobbleheads.

Really cool that you have ties to the early days of Major League Baseball
I swear to god the switch pitcher/switch hitter thing is a Bugs Bunny gag
Not sure you are entirely correct about 'the only ambidextrous pitcher in MLB history'. Ever heard of Greg A Harris? He was actually quite the ambidextrous pitcher, but for most of his career his team wouldnt allow him to pitch lefty. September 28, 1995, while with the Montreal Expos. In the ninth inning, Harris retired Reggie Sanders pitching right-handed, then switched to his left hand for the next two hitters, Hal Morris and Ed Taubensee, who both batted lefty. Harris walked Morris but got Taubensee to ground out. He then went back to his right hand to retire Bret Boone to end the inning. Harris's glove, which was custom built with an extra thumb so that it could be worn on either hand, is now on display at the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Tony Mullane was one of the top pitchers in baseball in the 1880s-90s and was very famous for switch-pitching.
I play warzone with a pitcher on the red Sox. Can confirm they're all about the gamer boy life haha
"In 2019, the Red Sox were TERRIBLE"... as the graphic shows a winning record that I would be ecstatic for my team to have...
The Anthony Rizzo hand sanitizer clip with Orlanda Arcia should have been used in the last clip. Or Freddie Freeman knocking the ball out of Asdrubal Cabrera's hand clip. Those are classics that we all love. Solid ass vid.
Players weren't aware of the rule that allows them to stay at the game, ( in street clothes, in the stands)after being ejected? I bought the rule book to read more about catcher indifference. But the ejected player rule has stuck in mind for decades. I had no idea there were so many interesting, unique rules. Baseball is beautiful and anybody who says it's boring knows nothing about the game.
The players were cracking those 90s
Big fan of the channel and the way you tell the hidden stories in baseball! I remember doing a paper in college on the various ways players have bent the rules across baseball’s history, so it’s great to see you cover the other end by noting how silly those rules can be sometimes. Just as one small note, while this video was a fun change of pace, I do hope you still keep using the intro format (and music) that you’ve used before, since that always set the mood in an awesome way. Even better if you can bring back the beat drop you used to do at the end of the intros, that was always a highlight for me! 😊
The tattoo rule is wild bro. They say its distracting?? Meanwhile players are wearing literal "bling" around their necks

Between things like the Chicken and Beer scandal and players' Fortnite addictions, it's weird how the Red Sox somehow keep winning championships when their clubhouse culture is so often in disarray. Imagine a timeline where that stuff didn't happen. How many more rings they'd have in the last 20 years.

It was no surprise they went without winning for decades, you should have seen their Spring Training facilities. I was an AT in the Florida State league in the late '80's. I have been in camping ground toilets in the middle of the effing swamp that were nicer. Very small, all concrete hovels. No AC, (Florida summer = 98⁰ & 99% humidity), water on the floors from leaking showers & doors that didn't shut completely, let alone any security. Players didn't bother to shower. You'd be drenched before you got dressed. Half a$$ ice machine, no real training room. It was disgusting. I don't know when they finally bulldozed it all, but I bet it coincided w/ them finally winning!
Classroom: Say the line, Baseball Doesn't Exist Baseball Doesn't Exist: "....BUEET!..."

You gotta love how the ump solved the switch-pitcher problem: by ruling in favor of the Yankee 🙄
I find that the pitcher has to decide first is dumb af. Batter should have to declare which box they stand in first since they are the one trying to score runs. Making the pitcher choose first and the batter react seems like a detriment

13:05 is actually the first time this happened in baseball history on a pitched ball. Due to their being no official rule on using detached equipment on a pitched ball, umpiring crew chief Harry Wendelstedt ruled that based on common sense and fair play, each runner should be awarded one base. The rule was amended to the OBR the following season. Base awards for that particular rule are: three bases on a batted ball, two bases on a thrown ball, and now, thanks to this particular instance, one base on a pitched ball
It’s not ridiculous that dwarfs are banned. In 1951, the St. Louis Browns sent a midget (3’ 7”) to bat as a stunt; of course he walked on 4 pitches. After that, the rule was enacted to preserve the integrity of the game.

Most frustrating rule is the detached equipment one. You know how fucking badass and cool it looks to use your glove as an extension of yourself and throw it to break up a flyby. Please make this legal and I’d actually watch baseball.

that ichro girl has an update.. her name is iris skinner and she threw the first pitch of a game last year.. also she appeared on the mariners youtube channel for an interview
I think the dumbest thing is no standing ovations are allowed anymore for a batter since it’s a pitch clock violation. Cody Bellinger got 2 violations for simply letting the fans cheer for him

that fraternization rule was the worst... players are expected to show no emotions and never talk and just quietly walk off the field after the game
This has probably been pointed out already but, isn't "clowning around" with opposing team members part of true sportsmanship? To be 100% serious about the game, yet still have a good time. As for the fans, there's not much that will make a fan's day/year/life more than having a player interact with them in some way. And a player giving a hug, a jersey, a ball/puck to a child is something that the child will remember all their life. Who wants to put an end to that?
Two things can be correct. In NHL hockey, a lot of players clearly understand that they can be friends and play hard when the puck drops. There are players that are friends and have physically punched each other in the face, to defend the teammates they have a signed contract with (their teammate). A lot of humans are evolved enough to be able to function in this way. It's people who can't tell the difference that think it's genuinely possible to "ban" players from opposite teams from being friends. It's also totally correct for that last guy to be enforcing the rule as much as he can, because we also like to gamble on sports. As long as he is doing his job, and people know when "friendly" players cross the line, we can leave things the way they are. I like the way it is in hockey, at least. Players often talk at center ice during the warmup. Sometimes it's angry, and sometimes it friendly. Playoffs, when it matters most, it's usually more angry, because players know when it is, and isn't appropriate to be friendly.

Not a single person would ever know that their watching youtube or scrolling the internet or even playing video games. They look just like regular sun glasses to other people who look at you, but what you're really looking at is a 4K, 300 inch IMAX screen!! They're insane!! They're pretty much like those VR headsets, but instead of having a big heavy bulky box hanging on your face, these are literally just sun glasses. And yes!!
