Scout pyro and spy are supposed to be flankers and surprise damage hence all the weapons that specialize in speed jump range and flank / hiding. Heavy soldier and demo are supposed to be the frontlines along with a medic mid to front line inbetween. Sniper and engy are best behind lines attacking or defending. Area denial is powerful.

Fun strat! That Demoman was the TF2 embodiment of winning the battle but losing the war.

Oh definitely. I play engineer on ctf because I’m just that guy, and I build an entire base in the vents on turbine just as a distraction to get everyone to come deal with the one random annoying engineer. Sometimes, if I’m not distracting enough, I’ll drop a tele from spawn to enemy vents, behind my nest, to force them to deal with me, or just let my team funnel straight from our spawn to theirs.

To an extent, going after an enemy that's behind your whole team isn't a bad move. especially when it's someone who can dash in and wipe your medic just like that. just don't send more then one person to deal with them.

The problem is that they can't forget you exist because, by simply existing, you are a threat. They don't know your entire purpose is to just exist somewhere. However, if they just ignore you, they become free kills. So do they go after to try and remove the potential threat or ignore it and just hope it does run up behind them and shove that force of nature right up their ass.

True, but you gotta admit, when there's more than a single player chasing a scout, sure, they are more likely to kill him, but they also are ignoring the larger threat which is the rest of his team. 2 or 3 people leaving the frontlines to chasing a scout back in their spawn means leaving their team vulnerable for a big push.

This sums it up perfectly. Thinking that people are "sTuPEeEDd111!!11" because they don't want to get spawn killed or don't want their Team-mates to be spawned killed is the real stupidity. This isn't a competitive team, there will only be 3 players communicating with microphones, there is a good chance all the players on the team don't even speak the same language. And you CANNOT rely on other players in casual. If you could you wouldn't see 3 spys/snipers in every match.

I guess the only reason people would chase down a Scout on CP maps is solely just to avoid a back capture, but in the process throw the entire game over it

To be fair, not going after a Scunt means you now have an enemy in your back lines that keeps doing chip damage to you and disrupting the flow of battle. It's a similar tactic that paratroopers are trained for, in that they cause situations where the enemy has to choose between an effective assault or a stable backline.

The moment you send two people or more to finish off a single enemy he's already benefitting his team.

I feel like this is to an extend what valve originally had in mind when designing the scout

I personally enjoy distraction medic, basically quick fix and overdose. Much less effective in terms of killing anything, much more eye catching and also pretty damm speedy. Makes up for the lack of an immediate defensive option with a potential uber pop to survive, and the passive hp regen.

I believe a very efficient class is also an engineer, where a good teleporter and a sentry can disrupt the team, if the engineer gets to slip past the frontline.

I was there during the upward match. Some guy on red was yelling, "Why did my entire team chase a bonk scout?!" in team chat

On gamemodes such as degroot keep, there is a massive advantage to having a scout who can run around and waste the time of the enemy team at their spawn while the friendly demoknights cap the two outermost points.

This fits my motto of "if they are killing me, they are not killing my teammates"

I hope to god that demoman sees this video and realizes that him chasing the scout meant falling into his plan and his taunting was just him flaunting his ignorance… Just for him to get karma-ed at the end of the match too

This is really fun with the baby face’s blaster surprisingly However it kinda forces you to trade off the second (and third if using atomizer) jump for faster speed during the bonk effects Great for long payload maps where even scout’s normal speed wont work, and you won’t lose your boost as long as you don’t do a mid aid jump

Reminds me of how I played scout when I first started playing tf2. My fav. part was jumping around snipers getting them focused on me instead of my team. Entertaining video. Thanks for making and sharing:)

that first well game just reminded me of Soundsmith's The Human Tripwire try hard enough to be noticed, annoying and distracting, and you become invisible or get kills you really shouldnt be getting. lol.

The Tactical Distraction Sticky Demo is also just as effective, if not more annoying. There's something so amusing about being a minor inconvenience behind the enemy that they dedicate most of their time to chasing one person.

I think the winger might actually be a better secondary here. The extra jump height would help with looping around and it gives you something to chip at people from further away which should help draw more attention. The bonk does definitely add to the annoyance factor though

Back in the day, around 2011-2014, I used to do something like this with soldier. I would just rocket jump into the back line, find a nice house with health and ammo, and just live there for as long as I could. If people chased me, I protected my property. If no one chased me, I made them chase me. My favourite house was dustbowl second stage's first point house. When the enemy capped first point and went to second, I would just break through, rocket jump to first point, and live there for as long as I could. I did this with pyro too, but mostly soldier. Man good times.

One time in a match on the last point of Altitude I was scout, and my brother was medic. I told him to Uber me as I ran into the entire enemy team with the frying pan, and I was able to not only distract the enemies but also kill a Heavy, Medic, and Engi. We then won a few seconds later.

Man i love doing this as dead ringer+ le'tranger or whatever spy. Its almost relaxing and you find alot of friendlies that way.

strats like this work so well against braindead sweats like that lime demo, more than anyone if you pick those people even once, theyll have it out for you the rest of the match so you can just run by and keep consistently yanking them away from helping their team. i always try to take potshots at sweats because of how easy they make the distraction strat

I like to do this but with the baby face blaster, because if you lose boost when hit, simply become invincible 4head. Imagine a max boost baby face booking it for the backline but there's nothing you can do to stop them

2:45 ... I've been playing too much TF2 the jump cut to the respawn happened and I flinched and jumped to my game controls thinking I respawned, dear god.

I tried this as demoman with the sticky jumper and stock grenade launcher an it worked surprisingly well

Funny Story: On the final point of Dustbowl (I think) I was trying to distract the enemy team by running into them, ran into a Pyro-Med combo. Fell down the bridge, climbed the stairs, and ran to the cap, “Surely they’ll notice me now right?” Nope! No one even BOTHERS to shoot me, a Pyro ran into the cap, killed him, and accidentally won the game by capping, as Scout, and I’m pretty sure there was at least one person there. That was funny and weird.

back in the long long time of early TF2 when we were sad and hatless, I once found myself in a lock. Red was holding great while we on blue couldn't push past a bottleneck on Frontier. There I had the idea for the first time. Go spy, get past the enemie spawn and take hotshots at them with the revolver. Super long distance. It took me a few tries, but then I managed to pull half the enemie team all the way back into the map. With one player missing on my team and half the players missing on theirs, the push worked and we got to the next stage of the map. good old times
