The dream DIY BIKE JUMP // Free Downloadable Plans

Спорт

You know that DIY bike jump you were asking us about? Well here it is, with free downloadable plans! This jump is easy to build, relatively cheap, fully adjustable and looks great. A huge thanks goes out to my dad, Larry (transformgripgear.com/) for being the brains behind this project.

    I’ve been lucky enough to work with Larry a few times. The man’s a genius and just all Round positive problem solver. Some person on set will say something like, “that would have been cool if we could’ve done this totally impossible thing.” Larry would over hear the comment and be all, “I could make that happen. I just need a few minutes to build a (something only Larry knows).” And he on the fly will just design and fabricate some feat of engineering out of random stuff on set. He does it so humbly everyone wonders if he has any idea how genius he is at all. Making like it’s no big deal. Meanwhile everyone on set has their jaws on the floor at the physics and engineering he drops in real time on the fly. There’s only one Larry.

    I wonder about creating a version of this with a bigger 4-5 foot jump with more adjustments along the lip... We have a 4.5' jump with an 8.5' radius. It's pretty steep and many people who come over to ride it have a hard time at first. Could be cool to adjust the slope/radius to be more mellow for others testing it out.

  • @kengregory1541
    @kengregory15414 жыл бұрын

    These are so damn cool! Your dad is brilliant. One thing I notice... the fence board at the lip is only 50% or less supported. Probly gonna split on you soooner or later. Easy enough to replace, but some more framing underneath would prevent this. (A couple chunks of fencing underneath, run perpendicular, screwed and glued would make it stout) Or extend the existing 'joists' for full support. Add construction adhesive between and it could go for years. Cheers, great work!!

    It went together easily in less than an hour. kzread.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

    IMPORTANT: the link to the plans no longer works. It says that it's been blocked because it is "potentially harmful". Super disappointing, I wanted to build these ramps but I might not be able to.
