The Doors channel is the official KZread home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

Was so far outside of pop for those times- more like a musical burlesque show, plus they had the chops to launch into a Geraldi feel, My Favorite Things jazzy improv anytime...
John Densmore kicked ass in this show as well . Pure rock n roll jazz fusion human drum machine 🎉
John Densmore is such an underrated drummer but he is absolutely great.
1969 I was sitting there admiring the White Album the Beatles at the same time my cousin plays the Door LP the talent this band shared was so moving nobody could compare with the magic unique rhyme Jim Morrison' needed the wonderful instrumentals of each member, couldn't have one player without the other all four. It was magical.

I was 16, that's right I'm 67 saw alot of great bands inSF, the Dead, Quicksilver, airplane, Zeppelin, Ten Years After, the rule, animals, it was fun back then was like going to the movies on Fridays we go to the dances that's we used to call we never danced anyway thanks for the Memories as they say God bless everyone

things were quite a bit different back then you know no long lines no big deal. Maybe 10 people in line my friend's father drove us there he had a GarageBand we liked his music because every song ended on the first album it didn't have a fade. Basically he played the whole first album which I got mono haha not even stereo you know back when they had high fidelity. There is a lot of talent in San Francisco and I remember this was the Avalon Ballroom and Chet Helms was the hippie counterpart to Bill Graham who had the Fillmore I digress but I remember him saying we got a new band from LA they're Kickin It. up down there the doors. If your within a decade or so of my age you know there was no social media and San Francisco had a big sound the Psychedelic sound and everybody wanted to come into the big bears I kind of got spoiled as a kid cuz there was so much good music so-called psychedelic in the Bay Area San Francisco a lot of British bands wanted to come here I mean I saw him when they were young you know Zeppelin The Who Jeff Beck Rod Stewart was his singer. I could ramble on cuz that's what old guys in the pandemic do I guess first time ever on a reply but anyway thank you God bless you and that they said Thanks for the Memories

This is such a hauntingly beautiful song! So grateful for all the great music that Jim, Robby, Ray and John left us. I wish I would have been old enough to see them in concert.
Part of what Robbie is playing is that classical piece of music called Asturias. Originally written for piano by Isaac Albeniz and transcribed for guitar by Andres Sergovia.

Asturias or Leyenda. Originally the piece as Robbie says was written for The waiting for the Sun album and was 7 minutes long. It contained a full flamengo improvisation but Rothchild thought it was too long. Unfortunately the master tape was lost. And as Robby says in his memoirs it was probably the best song he wrote.
Lo que toca Krieger en este tema es de otro planeta.
What a great birthday gift! Thank you! Love Robbie's magical guitar playing.
