This version is like vintage bourbon, that's fermented in an oaken barrel for 10 years (aged to perfection) .

Just one of the many things a appreciate about the Doobie Brothers is their ability to vocalize. The live harmonies are spot on key.

incredible live band from the videos I've seen. I was under 10 when they were peaking in the early 80's so I never got to see them live, so I am so glad to find stuff like this. What an experience it must have been to be there lol, I always wonder why the crowd is so subtle and still...I would have been dancing my ass off!!

The music from the Doobie Brothers comes in so many flavors but the one thing that is consistent its how well they sing together. This is live and they are so tight singing on key.

For all he went through, in tribulations of drink and the pains of what not, Mr McDonald (that's a Scotts heritage right?); brought a whole updated sound to the Doobies, as we came out of the hippy-era and entered what: The new Romantic? I can listen to Michael in the Doobies songs any time, day or night. For me, he caught the sight of that giant airship of aspirations coming down, and gave some honest expression to latch on to for those who remained alone. And still do. Thank-god I aspire as a musician, to make a tune one-day, or I'd be entirely lost in this world.

TDB's version is like sitting late night in an empty, dimly lit bar from the late 70's, sipping a hard drink that goes down smooth amidst the blue grey curls of smoke floating upwards from the lit cigarette that casts the only real illumination with each drag... Carly Simon's version moves from the dimly lit bar to the dimly lit bedroom, all full of dark colored satins and silks. Lace and lipstick. Dark and elegant furnishings, with a panoramic view of the city below, at night. A lover's plea and yet, spirited demand for devotion and loyalty....

The Doobie Brothers was a real band before Michael joined them. They had already won a Grammy or two before Mike joined the group. The fact they switch from rock/country to R&B just showed how truly versatile and talented the Doobie Brothers were as musicians.
