On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Hope you guys enjoyed the video see you in the next one.

    My friends and I flew this Ishak to 4000m, but we were 10 deep in a tight formation, the 109's kept diving on us thinking we would be easy, but we took 4 of them out with no losses (our gun convergence was at 500-600m). I-16 ftw. We were contrailing to draw the 109's in.

    Although the I-16 initially only has four 7.62mm machine guns, the machine guns it has are the Shkas, which have a very fast rate of fire (up to 3000 rpm in some cases) thanks to a revolver mechanism to load bullets into the chamber (similar to modern day revolver cannons used on modern fighter jets like the Typhoon's BK27 and the F-5's M39) so they can actually pack a punch by not having a lot of stopping power but by shear volume of fire. I think the Shkas are the best 7.62mm aircraft machine guns used during world war 2.

    As an IL2 player, I am never happy to fight an I-16. As opposing plane, I would choose either one of the better climbing 109's which should allow to always maintain a safe distance, but the tight turning of the I-16 makes eliminating it tedious as it will be hard to score anything other than high deflection (snap) shots. An other effective opponent is the Hawker Hurricane as it can match and even slightly exceed the I-16's turning rate.

    lol, that was unbelievably entertaining! I-16 was, I believe, the first Soviet monoplane and had retractable gear (maybe even the first plane to have it, dunno) and fully enclose cockpit... That was cutting edge technology at the time it was designed. Firstly fought in Spanish civil war where it dominated until Me-109s started coming. They were much faster, though I-16 was capable of outturning them...

  • @volatile100

    @volatile100

    Жыл бұрын

    The I-16 was the first Soviet low wing cantilever (just means no supports like biplanes or the P-26 Peashooter) that also had retracting gear. The first plane to have fully retractable gear (some planes could have it, but the wheels still stuck out, like the YB-9.) The first to have complete retraction would be the Grumman FF, which was also the first carrier based craft with retractable gear. Even further, the real "first" plane to have any kind of retractable gear, would be the Curtiss Model E. While having a canopy is nice and all, most pilots ended up hating it, preferring to leave it open, which had issues, or just taking it off. Later versions of the plane completely got rid of them for those reasons. The canopy had the tendency to foul from oil, had problems with suddenly closing during hard maneuvering, and in general reduced the already poor visibility. Pilots also complained about ho hard it was to actually get inside the thing. There were also problems in its combat introduction, with wings tending to rip off, and overheating everything because of the hot Spanish weather, and with the limited armament of 2 ShKAS guns. Almost all issues were fixed with more variants, but final changes made the plane somewhat worse in performance than before. It was extremely maneuverable, and vastly outperformed is initial enemies, being mostly He-51 and Ar-68 biplanes. At the time of introduction, it was the fastest and lightest fighter in existence, and it had an extremely easy flat spin recovery, to the point that all you had to do was dip the wing and throttle up. It had a ridiculous 1.5 second roll rate, and a very short ~15 second 360 turn rate. Anything else I could say you can look up online, or watch the video dedicated to it on the channel "Rex's Hangar"

Вот только если перестать с ним виражить и заняться работой - И-16 останеться только уворачиваться и считать, на каком заходе он всё же словит снаряд. Ему хватит всего одного.

    Speed of Sound vs. Speed of Now. Modern combat aircraft require computers and hydraulic systems to fly. Several have many sensors tied into the computer in order to maintain anything resembling aerodynamic stability. Break the computer or those sensors, or hydraulic lines, and it's all over. The Brewster F2A Buffalo and Grumman F4F Wildcat are in a class similar to the I-16, and all 3 together would probably compliment each other rather well.
