Let me build it up first.
This is a high maintenance arrangement. That mulch near the house is a playground for ants, mice, moles and critter scat, The edging effect looks harsh and unnatural. Plus it will age quickly and look tired. The two matching trees flanking the door is a design cliche, making the arrangement look dated. I realize this is a new install, still it looks scrawny and skimpy. The mulch is overpowering.
